Locks of Love is a great program, my mom last year when dealing with her 2nd fight with cancer and thankfully we are in her 2nd remission was able to get a wig that way and she loved it. Really made her day to look as she said "normal" but to me she was my mom and I always think she is beautiful. I have donated my hair twice....

And on to humidity...UGH..Florida humidity is HORRIBLE! In July I have to take a shower just to get from my front door to the mailbox and back its that yucky EWWW...

And lastly I have decided to not worry about huge crowds. I am going over MLK weekend but I'm staying away from MK on those days (except for my tour) and while I realize its a holiday, it's still January and its just me so I shouldn't have too many issues. I will just following my plans and enjoy the parks. ALthough I'm seriously considering breaking one of my cardinal rules and going to and evening EMH...MK is open till 2am one night and I would love to ride Haunted Mansion at Midnight...that would be the most amazing thing..that is on my list of things to do..so I think I'm going to do it LOL!! Now to figure out how to get the pic of me on the ride at midnight....hmmmmm....

Welcome Becky to the Snowbird Family! :goodvibes Thank you for joining us! Your plans look great! I am sure you will hhave a wonderful time! You had me :rotfl2: :rotfl: with the "Insurance Claims" talk! So funny :lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl: Remind me not to get hugged by Peaches, it sounds painful! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Shelly your plan sounds sort of like ours, except we are going to "find a present that we forgot to open" because we are doing the surprise on New Year's Day! It will start with a HUGE box and continue down to a teeny one with messages and gifts all the way through until the last teeny box will have just a strip of paper that says ..."because you are going to WDW in 17 days!" :cool1:

ATTENTION: ALL SNOWBIRDS - Are you in need of a good laugh today? I stumbled across this really hilarious thread over on the attractions board! OMGosh, talk about funny....here's the link...

Enjoy!

I literally almost spit my drink all over the computer when reading the one about Cinderella and TinkerBell:lmao: :rotfl:

That is great, thanks for posting the link Kim!!

Ok, here's me.:rolleyes1

Jen, I think we are on the same page with the humidity!! We get sticky just running in & out of the stores here!! YUCK!!!

Kim, that was funny---I have never seen the Tink face look like that before!!!

:rotfl2:

I remember the first time we rode it, DS9 was 6 then. His head was swaying to the music and he was humming the whole way through it. When we were just about to the end he looked at me and said - what are they saying anyway mom??? :lmao:

:lmao: my son feel asleep on the lady sitting next to him....

Yes, I totally understood that conversation. :rotfl: We have several just like it! Your ADR's look great! Great choices!! :goodvibes

As for the surprise, well this is my plan as of now - Let the kids open all of their Santa gifts. Then there will be a small box wrapped up under the tree clear in the back. We will bring it out last and say something like - well mommy and daddy could only get you guys one gift this year - hope you like it! Then inside will be layers. The first one will say something like - "you might need these" and there will be some Disney shirts. The next layer will say - "and these" and there will be Disney sunglasses. The next will say - "because WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!" and the last one will say - "IN JUST 27 DAYS!!!!!" and it will have a countdown calendar! :santa: :cool1:

Ohhhhhhh.... that sounds like so much fun..... its so hard when they are older to surprise them....

QOTD:

I don't like Dumbo...I don't understand the fascination with a ride that goes around in a circle for 90 seconds...that you waited 2 hours for. When I have kids DH will have to take them...I will go shopping instead. :)

Also not a fan of the Country Bears...we last saw them in 2001...I fell asleep.

I'm hoping codes will come out soon...we've never used them before. Hoping for free dining, ticket upgrades, and room discount. I want them all, but will settle for one.

:rotfl: I love to ride Dumbo... not sure why... must be a left over from my childhood.... Hall of Presidents puts me to sleep every time..... last time my kids moved on me and left me sitting by myself...... I hope I wasn't snoring.... little creeps....

OMG :scared1: ! We LOVE Test Track!! :car: I think it is DH's favorite thing at WDW!!

My parents are both retired GM employees.... all we have to do is show their GM card and we get back door priviledges... we get to go up to the lounge for free drinks and then get to go to the front of the line... its so cool...:cool1:

:rotfl2: Hilarious!!

:rotfl:

WOW that would be so awesome! :goodvibes :cool1:

I still enjoy Small World, it has a lot of charm!
Even after riding it nonstop since it's the only thing your 2 year old cousin will ride......
Has anyone seen the Family Guy episode where they spoof small world? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I almost died of laughter!

And speaking of humidity, add NYC to the list of places you don't want to be in August. Between the heat, humidity, all the sweaty smelly tourists, the tall buildings holding in the hot air, the subways heating the ground and spewing heat out along with all the buses and cars, it's a little less than pleasant! Ahh home sweet home!

QOTD - will NOT be going on Test Track, Space Mtn, ToT or RnRC. Hate anything that goes fast or curvy. Love BTM and Splash Mtn, though. Hate the Energy Adventure - BORING.

Also, thanks for the clarification on Garden Grille. I read through the All Ears stuff on it, and I'm happy that we can still go there for dinner!! :woohoo: I thought I had heard they were getting rid of the characters all together there, but I must have gotten it confused with LTT. :confused3

Okay, that one got a full-out belly laugh, thank you! Little creeps...:rotfl2:

It's the Garden Grill Harvest Feast with Chip and Dale. I copied it down from my calendar and I had it shortened to Harvest Feast. Sorry for the confusion.
I too hope that C and D are there. Otherwise we will be changing dining ressies!
We went to Ak in 2005 and DD then 6 got some great 1 on 1 time with C & D. (no other kids anywhere, they were all waiting to see rafaki, sp?) They were both hugging her and when she asked Chip for his autograph Dale got all sad and pouted until DD went up to him and hugged him. Then he twirled her pigtails and acted like he was SOOOO in love with her...She loved it!

Okay Snowbirds, I'm going to be checking in through out the day while I clean my house.....Right now I'm on the bathroom:scared:

Take care,
Becky

When I went on the Disney Cruise a few years ago, Chip and Dale came and played Ping Pong with my boyfriend and I. There weren't any kids out, so they just hung out with us. It was a blast!

Wishing you lots of pixie dust for find those precious chipmunks!:wizard:

I just got done with the bathrooms! I hate cleaning the bathrooms. It's just gross. Oh well, at least they are done now and super clean. That is, until the boys get home from school! :rotfl:

OMG :scared1: ! We LOVE Test Track!! :car: I think it is DH's favorite thing at WDW!!

Sorry about cleaning bathrooms! I'm espcially sorry about cleaning bathrooms for three boys!

I feel so bad saying that I don't like Test Track. It's like "Idon'tlikeTestTrask. Please don't throw rocks at me!" :cutie:

I know it is a wonderful ride and I suggested it to people when I worked there. It's just not my cup of tea.:confused3 Maybe I will have a different opinion after this trip.

They would love for you to donate!!!:cutie: How much more are you gonna cut? It's so pretty---but I could not stand blow drying that much hair! My moms hair is SUPER thick-even when it' shoulder length it takes forever. My SIL is thick and curly--almost to her waist-she was spending 1 hour every morning just blow drying:scared1: So, she cut about 5 inches and had some of it thinned out a bit--it's still a TON of hair!! I don't have the patience or time for a one hour blow dry!!

I'm not cutting enough to donate. :(

It does take FOREVER to blow dry and curl. I only blow dry it once or twice a week. I mostly scrunch it and wear it wavy. I'm not as high mantinence as I seem. I promise!:cutie:

Now on vacation...because it will be my 2nd Honeymoon...I'll be getting all dolled up for G.

Mine is very thick too! I go through phases with mine. I cut it short about 2 years ago and now I want it long again. So in another 2 years I'll cut it. I donate to Locks of Love. I actually have really pretty red hair ( I hate saying that because I think everyone else thinks I'm stuck-up when I say things like that.:snooty: ). Hmm maybe I should find a picture of myself to post....

Wow! Your hair is so beautiful! I've always wanted thick, long, auburn hair.

OMG!!! We are going to do the EMH til 2am at the MK. There are a few things I want to do at night and the HM is one of them...so if I am there at midnight I will take your picture if you want! LOL....I am hoping that by midnight many of the families with kids have headed out and the parks will be semi empty for the rest of us! I am also thinking of doing the HS EMH too! Other than that I am staying away EMH parks the rest of my stay!

Maybe all the Snowbirds who are at EMH at the MK should do the HM at midnight!!!!

I agree about NYC in the summer, and the smell is worse than low tide on a fish sandbar....eeeewwwwwww!!!!!

OMG that link is hysterical! :rotfl:

Good morning Snowbirds! I just want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes for my DD. She woke up this morning and said "Am I really 6 today?"

Too cute- "Am I really 6?" I wake like that every day only i say "Am I really 30?":rotfl2: Hope she's having a magical day!

Oooh, you should just buy it. That way you could just mark it up...and you get a discount (or is it free if you buy the book?) on their touring plan website that has even more plans! :cheer2:

I borrowed the 2008 a while back and just borrowed the 2009 to see if they had anything more up to date and as I'm reading it I'm finding more notes to take than last time. I should just buy it!

I loved reading all the surprises you guys have planned for Christmas!

I thought about making it a surprise but I know I can't contain myself! I'm having so much fun counting down and showing my son stuff about it on the computer all the time. It's so much fun being able to share my Disney obsession with him! My hubby isn't so obsessed so he's no fun and doesn't understand the magic as much. He loves it when we get there but during the planning process he thinks I'm crazy planning and obsessing when we have 3+ months to go. If he only knew the extent of it... the pile of stuff I have for Christmas and the stash I have packed for Disney already. :rotfl2: Thank goodness my Snowbird family understands me!:grouphug:

I've been kind of worried about the crowds during MLK weekend. I am visually disabled and wanted to choose a good week where I don't have to battle with the crowds so much. I can change my reservations to be the 24th-31st (it's cheaper to fly Saturday-Saturday) but then I'm worried about crowds from the super bowl.
What do you think is best?
17th-24th or 24th-31st???

Thanks for any advice!

My vote is for the 24th-31st but I'm a little biased since those are my dates too! I figure it should be less crowded than MLK- at least that's what I'm hoping. We've never been in January but the crowds (and weather) have to be better than we've gone in Oct and July.

Enjoy!

This was hilarious!!! Although Tink was a little creepy. :scared: I prefer the blurry pics of her where you can't tell what he/she is.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Hi Snowbirds. Just wanted to check in and say GO PHILLIES:cheer2: :dance3:

Shelly...have fun christmas shopping. I am usually well on my way too. So far I have bought about 3/4 of my girls presents and all of my cousins kids. I went to the disney outlet in Orlando and got some great deals. I highly recommend it. It is called The Orlando Premium Outlets...there is also a coach outlet too. I have to admit, I bought a coach bag as my disney souveneir. Gotta love outlets!! Soleil..you must check it out when you are there. It is only a 5 minute ride from DTD.

YES FELLOW SNOWBIRD! GOOOOO PHIGHTINS!!!!

Ah, way too excited to see "one of my kind" here!! A Phils fan and a shopper? Whew!

I'm just checking in here at work..not much to do today. I should be studying for my sports management midterms but alas, the DIS calls. I couldn't be more excited for my trip. The semester's halfway done, and the rest of my group finally booked their flights and some even got their park tickets! And while I'm excited for my big trip, I'm even more excited with the prospect of going to either Tampa Bay or Boston in about a week to see the World Series! My dad works for the Phillies, and we get to go to the away games if they make it :woohoo: ..thank gosh my trip's paid for and I got an "emergency" credit card this summer..emergency..yes..all of the concessions and clothing items/shotglasses (I have a collection) at Fenway/Trop are emergency items ;)

I guess I should get back to "work" now, I just had to check in!

Speaking of the characters and their 'friends'.....

On my first trip to Disney I met Wendy at breakfast at CRT. (I was a very naive 14 and completely serious when I asked my question.)

Me: Wendy, I LOVE your hair! How do you get it to curl like that?

Wendy: (Bends down towards me.) It's just a wig
.

Leave it to me to be concerned about the characters hair, but way to ruin the magic Wendy!!!!

I would be so sad if a Princess told DD that her pretty hair was just a wig.:guilty:

Urgh, any snowbirds out there have good source material for a paper on Ancient Greek theatre festivals??????

:surfweb: :idea: :teacher: :badpc::mad: :faint:

Sometimes I really don't like school. Stinking college education...

That's it Glo!! That is our meeting spot! I will find you outside Haunted Mansion (and I know we are the same night considering we are going at the exact same time LOL) around midnight LOL!!! We will take pictures and then we can ride it together if you would like !!!
