Jackson Hole Help

Thinking about planning a trip to Jackson Hole in early January, and I'm a bit flummoxed by the contradictory advice I've been getting from guidebooks. Have any of you spent much time in the area?

We're looking for something cozy and romantic that seems at least a little bit lodge-y, ideally with a fireplace. Our budget stretches pretty far, but not to the Four Seasons or Amangani. We're not looking for ski access, so we'd be happy to stay downtown Jackson or in Teton Village.

We stayed at Cowboy Village (which we loved!!!), but that would not be very romantic. It's pretty family centered.

While we were walking around town we poked our heads into the Wort Hotel (it's where I originally planned on staying, but we had pets with us) and it is beautiful! And right in downtown which would be very nice.

I know when I was researching Jackson I heard a lot about Flat Creek Ranch, and the Rusty Parrot too.

You might want to check VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) for condo availability.

I grew up in Cody and Familiar with Jackson. I would suggest that you look into renting a condo or seeing if any of the ranches in the park are renting cabins-that will give you atmosphere you want. Its probably not realistice to look for something in Teton Village if you are not looking to ski-its pretty much ski in ski out and will be spendy for the quality of accomodation you get just because it is right at the foot of the mountain. The Wort is beautiful as is Spring Creek Ranch-but again-spendy..
But Jackson is beautful in the winter-besure and take a sleigh tour on the Elk Refugee.

I've stayed at the Wort Hotel in Jackson. We loved it. It is a small, quaint hotel. You can walk everywhere in Jackson. However, I was there during the summer.

We took a bus over to Teton Village one afternoon. It was fun, but I liked Jackson better.
