its tough to be a bug concern??

We took DD9, DS8 & DD7 to this last year and it really scared them. Not just the stings in the back but the whole thing. It is very intense and alot of kids get very scared. My wife and kids absolutely refuse to do it again.

Be careful! My children hate it and will never do it again. We have tried it many times and someone is always screaming to get out....DS now 15 still wont go...Soooo proceed with caution.... I had to go by myself to see the whole thing.. :confused3

The only problem I have with this attraction is the stage smoke they spray at you. It closes up my lungs (most likely because of my asthma)...and they keep spraying it for at least 30 seconds. It's so hard to breathe for me, I want to just run out of the theatre. If your child has asthma, Beware.

Me and My fears I hate eleltrical type shocks or the type you get when you touch metal after walking a carpet those types of shocks and if know somthing is going to shock me I stay away like the plaugue

Once again:

YOU DO NOT GET SHOCKED.

You simply get poked in the back. What is the big deal? Just sit forward in your seat at the end.

Hi,
We took my five year old son to see It's Tough to be a Bug he loved it..My ds doesn't like to be in the dark nor does he like bugs but he loved this show..I didn't think that i felt any shock, what i did feel was something poke me like in the back but not hard..Just like someone poked you with their finger..

Took my 3 children in 2002, they were 4,8 & 10. They loved it! Maybe it has change in the last 4 years, but I don't remember this being scary at all!

Okay now i just feel dumb lol if your saying its a poke in the back type thing then im all for the fun and i will have my son watch its a bug life ahead of time but then again he likes bugs and such thank you so much for reasuring me it helps to have this site to awnser my questions so i thank all who helped me and did not think i was lame LOL i hope you all have a great vacation when you go and thanks for the info. Maybe next time i read somthing out of a guide book i should just come here before i get all unerved as you all know your stuff. And its always good to learn from you all i know its disney but from what i read alian enconter used to scare peaple silly and that was an attraction so i guess it all varies on your kids and what you consider scary, thanks again

I waited until my girls where 7 and 10 before we did this 3d. My DH and I loved it and I can honestly say the girls hated it, don't think we will ever get them in there again.

We all loved it. My four year old still talks about the 'bugs that crawl under your butt'. She was much more fearful of Honey I shrunk the audience.

I agree that it depends on what your kids are into. I personally don't mind the "stinger" at the end, but I do mind the mice at Honey I Shrunk the Audience. It truly depends on your personal taste. I do hold my breath when the stinkbug comes out. I really don't like nasty smells!

My kids went when they were 2 and 3 1/2. They really liked it, but they aren't very "nervous" children.

OF ALL TIME! Don't worry. Just a little poke, some slight bumpedy bumps under your bum, a fast whif of stinky and some acid spray (water droplets). If you don't sit in your chair exactly right, the poke won't even happen. My DS-8 felt it last year but not the year before and I didn't feel it last year and I was pi$$ed! I wanted to feel it. LOVE THE SHOW and DD and I HATE bugs but I know it's not for everyone. If you have a terrifyingly SERIOUS bug phobia, I would avoid it. Otherwise, you MUST see it at least once to form your own opinion. :thumbsup2

My niece was 3 when she first saw it and it frightened her so much that she would not put on glasses for any of the other 3-D attractions. The next time she went she was 7 and I don't think it bothered her, but it is still not one of her favorites.

My DS best friend went, and she told him to absolutely NOT go to it! She said you get spit at, stung and bugs are running around :scared: !
I explained to him what they were, but he said he wants nothing to do with it. So I figure we'll skip it this time around - we'll be busy enough anyway :goodvibes !

I dont know about anyone esle but the bug spray (fog) bothers me. I found out later that I have some sort of allergic reaction to it and it causes my lungs to shut down for a moment. Yikes! The first time we were there we sat directly in the bus spray area. I couldn't breath and began to panick. After getting home my doctor told me that I am allerigic to the fog they use and I have to be careful. He recommended sitting away from it, not going to it or holding my breath. I now hold my breath and cover my mouth with my shirt if I am near the middle or such and I am fine. I do believe there is a warning about the fog but the first time we went I never thought twice about it. Now I understand why there is a warning.

We just went last week and it is not very intense at all. My 8DD had a blast and she is very girly and gets emotional very easy and she loved it. I would agree to watch the movie first so you know the characters and it should be a very fun 3d show. :sunny:

I have taken my DS twice and he is only 2. He really liked it. I was worried but he did fine. Just prepare your son for the sights, smell and bumps under the seat. NOTHING is painful. I didn't even feel the "poke" the last time. If you are concerned that he will freak him out, hold him on your lap or have him sit near the edge of his chair. If he is not easily spooked, he should be fine. It is a great show and the main reason we go to AK. Have fun!

My kids were 6 and 4 when we went, and HATED HATED HATED It's Tough To Be A Bug. I didn't want to take them, but Grandma insisted . . . hope you had a good time with all the screaming, there, Nana. :) (Actually, from some of her descriptions, I think she may have had it confused with Honey, I Shrunk The Audience, but I don't think the kids would have liked that either :teeth: )

6yo was on my lap, crying at the top of her lungs, from the time that Hopper showed up until the end - which I guess is good, because she couldn't feel the "poke". (I didn't either, by the way.) 4yo, who is a bit braver, spent most of the time yelling that it was too loud.

Let's see, you get farted at, sprayed with insecticide, squirted with poison, surrounded by hornets in the dark -- yeah, THAT's entertainment! :3dglasses I mean, it's well done and all, but what exactly is it that people like about this show?

I didn't think I'd get them into Philharmagic after that, but they went; they didn't like that either. :teeth: Maybe they would have liked it if they hadn't seen ITTBAB first.

DS was 7 when we went the last time and he hated it. In fact, none of us particularly liked it. Mickey's Philermagic is so much better! We won't be going to Bug's Life this time.

When we went in May 2004, my girls were 12, 8 and 4 w/birthdays coming up in the next 2 weeks to 2 mths. The oldest 2 girls loved the show but the 4 yr old HATED it. I think what bothered her more than anything was being in the dark room. She sat on my lap almost the entire time and started crying so much her nose began to bleed!! Of course I didn't know this until after we left b/c I thought she just had a runny nose. She refused to go to any rides at all that were loud or dark....but get this...she LOVED Tower of Terror and rode Space Mountain BY HERSELF! Go figure! :confused3

I think you just have to do what YOU feel is right for YOU and YOUR FAMILY! Explain to them that it's all make believe and if they don't want to go, then don't go. If they do, then sit on an aisle so you can leave if necessary.
GOOD LUCK!
Karen
