Is Toy Story Mania really worth the wait?

Hey guys. I was at dhs 2 years ago on dec when TSM was new. I have always been able to ride everything I wanted but not that time. I chalked it up to it being new, but still see reports of it being 1 hour wait at least. Is it really that good? I just find it odd that it still consistantly has the longest wait time in dhs and possibly wdw. So is it really that good? Should I move heaven and earth to do it or just let it pass again? It will be me, my wife, boys 14 13 & 9, and our mothers. Thanks for the advice.

I didn't ride it when it was new either. To long of a wait for my little one. But personally I love the ride it is a total blast for me and my family. BUT the longest I wait is about 45min. My kids are also younger than yours and they don't do thrill rides of any kind. So TSM is an awesome ride to them, kwim??

I was expecting TSM to be akin to Buzz Lightyear in MK. Boy, was I wrong. We had a blast and actually squeezed in a second day to DS to ride it again. So much better than Buzz . . . the 3-D effects, the unexpected sensory effects like the blast of air or spritz of water, the fast pace. I would say it is definitely worth an hour wait, especially since the line is filled with fun things to see. We loved it!

We love it! My kids are 8 and 16 yrs old. We do it many times during our visit. The wait never seems as long as it says. We have gotten in line when it was 1 1/2 wait and never actually waited that long. Do it at least once and see what you think. You might find it worth at least the one time wait:)

Have Fun!

No -- It's not my kind of ride. I'd have no problem with skipping it / don't see what all the fuss is about. My teen likes it, though, so we usually do it at rope drop first thing so we can walk on with no wait.

I responded in a recent thread about MVMCP (and if the cost is worth it) that as a trained social worker, I have particular strengths in the skills of rationalization. In the case of MVMCP I laid out an argument that the price probablly is worth it....

In this case a 120 min wait for an 8 minute attraction (The preride queue offers little more than a few puns on scenery along the walls) is hard to rationalize on the surface. Yet, if you wanted to, you could look at it as waitng in line for 15 minutes for every minute you were on the attraction. 45 minute wait for an 8 minute ride is still hard to justify but maybe one could rationalize a little better as you could argue you are waiting in line for 6 minutes per minute riding the attraction.

As far as the attraction itself it is fun, and people of all ages can enjoy it as there is no fear factor, the replay value is high as you can get a different score/experience each time. I do miss Who wants to be a millionaire though, I feel it could have outlived it's short run for many years as who doesn't love Trivia!!

I rode it yesterday. It was fun, but now worth more than a half an hour wait in my opinion. We got there at rope drop and rode it with about a 20 minute wait. Then we got fast passes for later in the day. We didn't even end up using them though. We gave them to a very frustrated couple that didn't want to wait in line for more than an hour. I hope they had a good time with our fastpasses.:)

It's a great ride and you will all love it.

But don't wait the 90 minutes, get a Fastpass early.

YES! I don't wait for any ride on Disney property accept for TSM! it is the best I would wait 2 hours if I had too

It's good. If you go first thing in the morning and don't bother with getting fastpasses, you won't wait long. The fastpass line after the first 30-60 minutes is okay to deal with imo. Have a good time.

Definite yes!! Our family loves it and we usually ride it multiple times during our trip but take advantage of EMH, getting to the park early, those kind of things to make the wait less- but we've waited also waited up to 2hrs for it! It's also a fun competitive thing for my hubby and I to see who gets the better score. We've been with family who range in age from 2-26 and everyone has loved the ride. Have a great time!

ABSOLUTELY!! But you dont have to wait. Just be at the park for rope drop and have one person in your party head over with parl tickets and get fastpassess for all!! We have done that for our past several visits and our Fastpast is usually around 10:30 or 11:00. It is really cool and alot of fun!!

I wouldn't wait more than 45 minutes for it, and even then I would really think about it.

It's definitely worth trying though.

If you've never done it before and the standby time is, say, 60 minutes or less, then I would say yes. (If you've done it already, then you already know how long you can wait. ;)) Like Soarin', it is an attraction that generally appeals to ALL ages, plus does not have many restrictions with regard to height or health conditions. That, in a nutshell, is why those two attractions are insanely popular.

As much as I LOVE DW and most of the rides, I will not wait in a line for longer than 20 minutes. It's just too easy to use FPs and plan around the long waits!!! :)

No, not worth it. I personally like Buz more. If you want to ride it, go for rope drop and get FPs and get into line, it was 40 min at 9:15 AM. If you are lucky you can get second set of FPs but they fly very fast, were gone by 10:45 the day I was there.

total worth the wait,
last trip in may DD and I headed to DHS alone!! the rest of our GG where still in the bed, we got luck we only waited about 30 mins, the best part was I got a pic of her in front of the Candyland games and she was the only one there.
Sweet..!!! she is 21 so this was fun for us as I played candyland many time when she was little.

I've never understood the line for TSM. We rode it twice. Once at rope drop and once with Fat passes. Both times I walked away thinking "eh, it's okay I guess but I'd never wait in a line longer than 20 minutes for it."
