The previous owners of our home had interesting taste in yard decorations. They cemented an old fire hydrant into the yard? :confused3 Anyway, we finally detached it from the ground and now we don't know what to do with it. Does anyone know if an old hydrant is worth anything or what we could do with it? Thanks for your help, I knew that if anyone would know about this sort of thing it had to be my friends on the Dis. :teeth:

Hard to say. Almost everything is worth something to someone else. I would try listing it on ebay or give it away on craigslist.com Either of them would be worth a try, at least you wouldnt have to pay the dump to take it. I imagine it is heavy and would be costly to get rid of.

I second the Ebay idea.

Put some long, drawn-out story about the significance of the fire hydrant to American history or something. People pay money for that stuff.

You would be surprised what people would pay for junk. (I sell it weekly for good amounts!) It gotta be worth at least $50. Maybe post some written up ads at the grocery store, it would be a free way to get it advertised. Or donate to a goodwill and take the tax write off.
