read a few reports here about how Song overbooks some flights out of Logan, especially due to the shuffling around of flights from their numerous change of schedules...

anyway, i'm traveling Sat after Thanksgiving, and worried about if my flight is overbooked.

have there been more incidents of major overbookings lately on Song?

is there any way to find out in advance if the flight is probably overbooked?

how early should i arrive at Logan if it turns out the flight is overbooked after all, and i still want to make sure i get on that flight?

I'm flying on Song the Saturday after Thanksgiving as well. We're on the 3:10p flight out of Boston.

I'm not really worried as I have seat assignments and I check the flight almost daily and there are still a hand full of seats available.

If you are so worried, maybe you can check in online Friday night before you head out to the airport and then maybe you will feel better??

I plan on getting to the airport by 2:00p at the latest for my 3:10p flight.

Have fun!

Sat Nov. 22 BOS-MCO. Flight 2517 leaving at 11:35 AM

Previous night, seat map shows some unchosen seats.

Asked about volunteering 2 hours in advance and they said the flight was not oversold.

1-1/2 hours in advance they ask for volunteers.

35 minutes in advance they announce they didn't need volunteers.

Returning Sun. Nov. 30. Checked Song web site (@11/22) and no more tickets are being sold for that date.

Back in April or so when Song discontinued the 8 AM BOS-MCO flight, the 11:35 filled up, but a few months later seats in the seat map became unclaimed. Apparently people cancelled their reservations back then.

Some airlines telephone people at random asking if the people wouldn't mind changing their reservations. A few people unwittingly obey saving the ailrine having to pay bump compensation.

None of the Song flights from BOS-MCO on 11/29 are overbooked.

All of the Song flights from MCO-BOS on 11/30 are booked full, but not overbooked.

Just to be fair, ALL airlines overbook, it's not just Song, and there is really no way to predict whether or not they will involuntary bump people. If you have a reservation and get there on time (seat assignments are really no guarantee), you should have no trouble.

110 flights this year so far, and I have not been bumped once, nor have I ever seen an involuntary bump in all my years of flying this much.

OH!! I was hoping for a bump Saturday night. Oh well!

Where can I get inside information such as you quoted about a flight certainly being full but not overbooked?

Alex's post made me suspect he is an airline employee.

There are websites where you can view this kind of information w/o being an airline employee. Unfortunately, I lost all my favorites when I got a new computer, so I can't help you, but if you go over to FlyerTalk Miles (www.flyertalk.com) and post the question over there on the Delta board, someone will tell you.

Those websites are NOT 100% reliable. Some of the airlines give more data then others. If you can figure out how to make it work the Amex one is the best, but good luck!!!

Know an insider...I don't know of any public access that's reliable, but then again have never really searched that hard.

I always fly USAirways and probably about half of my flights to Orlando they ask for volunteers. One time they were looking for 10! I think given the opportunity, most airlines will overbook taking the chance that there will be no shows or cancellations.
