Has Disney Parks lost hope in developing great parades and shows?

I was at DIsneylabd Park two weeks ago and was lamenting the lack of shows and entertainment. The HUnchback stage near Small World has been dark forever....cannot even remember the last show that was performed there. There used to be dancing and a band at Carnation Gardens. The large building in Tomorrowland that used to house technology and innovation exhibits empty. Just doesn't feel right.
The stage that you mention by It's A Small World used to have a comedy show where they would do funny versions of Tangled and Beauty And The Beast. And the reason why that show never came back was due to low audience attendance. But that show is an example of when Disneyland was starting to go downhill in it's entertainment. But you know what show DCA never brought back to Avengers Campus again? The Hawkeye stage show and they should bring it back especially since it was a Christmas themed show and it was a hit but it was never seen again since. But I agree with you that Disneyland needs to have more shows and entertainment and a daytime parade would fit in perfectly

That's not quite correct. The Tangled and Beauty and the Beast shows are held at the Royal Theater that is in front of the castle on the West side and do still run. It's called Storytelling at the Royal Theater, and it alternates between the two.

The Fantasyland Theater near It's A Small World is a much larger theater that most recently had Mickey and the Magical Map (great show!), but that has been gone for a few years now. They have used the theater seasonally for some limited time shows that were less elaborate. There is work going on in that theater now, so there may be a new show coming.

As discussed in the DL forum, last month Disney held a casting call for a new show. Some of us thought it would be for the Holidays but obviously that’s not the case. It’s a larger show, so if they’re doing work there, that’s most likely it.

I wonder what new show is gonna go in the Fantasyland Theater? Because if the show happens to be good Disneyland will return to having good entertainment again. Because ever since the loss of Mickey And The Magical Map and the short-lived The Lion King show Fantasyland Theater needs a better show

As I mentioned before I wonder why Disney does not have any interest in character breakfast shows and if people saw character breakfast shows the kids would love it. But what could work for Walt Disney World's Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom is a Beauty And The Beast themed dinner show where people could see Belle The Beast Gaston and The Enchanted Objects perform a interactive show that would involve the guests interacting with the characters in a dancing segment. Because I find it odd that for the price people pay to eat at Be Our Guest they should have more characters and a lunch/dinner show would fit like a glove if it were to exist at Be Our Guest. But how Enchanted Tales With Belle is so popular I don't know why it bothered to exist? Because Belle doesn't give autographs or meet and greet with people and all she does with the audience members that are picked to interact was take photos and give bookmarks and they should've redesigned this show to have Belle meet and greet with everyone and give autographs rather than just take photos and give bookmarks which goes to show how downhill Disney Parks have gone in interactive shows

They don’t do them because they don’t have to
People pay the stupid prices for the horrible food at be our guest restaurant and it’s aways full so why pay CMs to do more entertainment when they don’t need to

As for autographs at bells thank goodness they don’t
They take forever, aren’t necessary
A quick photo is all you need, this lets the show be performed more often and gets guests in and out

People take too long getting autographs then you have a family with 5 kids and each kid wants an autograph and then individual photo then photo with everyone then photo with just grandma etc etc

Keep it flowing and turning over more people - WDW is too busy now to have special moments sadly those times are long gone

It’s a bluey show - yawn
Yet another lame addition instead of a proper show

Going to break this down in several parts.

  1. Regarding Be Our Guest, the entire restaurant would need to be redone to add a stage to do this performance. For example, there are 3 rooms so 2 would never see a stage in the main ballroom. And the west wing would be way too small to add a stage or have been dancing through. It already gets crowded enough with people wandering around looking at the enchanted rose. If you want a stage show for Beauty and the Beast, one can go to Hollywood Studios to see that one - I happen to love it and think it is so well done --- probably because Belle is my favorite princess.
  2. Well, there are plenty of options to get Belle's autograph. Can book a meal at Akershus in Epcot or try to see her in France. So really no need to do that at Be Our Guest or at Enchanted Tales.
  3. I happen to love Enchanted Tales with Belle and the bookmarks make perfect sense to me since she is telling a story and loves reading so she should giveaway something that would be meaningful to her character such as a bookmark. And it is not just the kids who participate in the show that can go up for pictures. Any child is always welcomed and encouraged to go up for pictures. If it was autographs and photos for all at Enchanted Tales, it would no longer be a show but a meet and greet.

Some people pay extra just to enjoy the darkness and the solitude of the West Wing. Cheerful characters prancing around would mess up that atmosphere.

The main reason I think Disneyland is gonna have a Bluey show in Fantasyland is so they can attract the toddler crowd and judging how well this Bluey show is received Disneyland might give Bluey her own meet and greet soon. I didn't even know who Bluey was until I saw her balloon in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and then I noticed how popular she was because she has her very own Pandora station too

The show is basically a meet and greet with activities from what the description of both the Disneyland and the AKL ones will be as well

they don't need to add another BATB show. There's the main one at DHS, and Enchanted Tales with Belle. And Belle doesn't sign at Enchanted Tales because it isn't a meet and greet- it's a show

What I mainly think is that Disney Parks are creating shows that aren't so expensive to create and when the finished product is complete it fails after so long. Like I cannot figure out why The Tales Of The Lion King show at Disneyland failed because they had such high hopes for it to be successful? But it was only on for short months and later failed and what I think Disneyland could've done was a show in the same style as Mickey And The Magical Map instead. I predict that this new Bluey show will not last long because I think it will draw the same audience as DCA's Disney Junior Live On Stage which is toddlers. But as I mentioned a lot in this thread Disney Parks see character meet and greets as a big moneymaker because when Disney Parks suspended character meet and greets during the pandemic it hurt Disney Parks a lot but when they brought character meet and greets back in 2023 character meet and greets have become a fine mess now and an annoying pain for families and Disney Parks think this is making them more money than developing new shows and parades? I don't think it's right in all honesty. What could work for Disney Parks to do is retire Fantasmic and develop a new nighttime show with special effects starring the Disney Princesses and they should create a fireworks show based on Disney Fairies and it would be a wonderful show if it were to exist

Going to respond in several points....
  • Tales of the Lion King - It was actually a great show. We saw it a couple times. It was no Festival of the Lion King at AK, but it was a solid show. It was also only planned to be a limited run! So, it was not a fail. It was just never meant to be around long term.
  • Bluey - This is not really a show as I understand it. It will be more of an interactive thing with meet and greets and dance parties and other activities with some things going on stage. It will be similar to the holiday activities that occur in that area. It was also be insanely popular because of all the kids (and adults) who love Bluey. Tons of kids and parents wearing Bluey stuff in the parks already.
  • Character Meet and Greets - How are meet and greets with characters a pain? There have been no changes since before the Pandemic except for the distanced ones that occurred during the pandemic. You have not been to the parks in 20 years - you don't really know how the meet and greets work. A character is scheduled to come out. They go to the location, a line forms, and then people meet the character in the order they arrived. There is no lightening lane and nothing monetized from the experience. Where are you hearing differently? Characters do sometimes (very rarely) get long lines and are limited on the greet times, so they do cut the line when they know a character will be going in soon, but everyone in line before it gets cut gets to meet the character.
  • Fantasmic/Fireworks - NO and NO! There will be petitions and a lot of screaming if Disney were to eliminate Fantasmic at Disneyland. Every show is totally packed around the Rivers of America. And dining packages sell out all the time. And no would replacing it with a princess show be as popular. Regarding the fireworks, Disney got a wonderful new show for the 70th anniversary (Wondrous Journeys) that is less than a year old. It is a very popular show.

Disney never completely 100% suspended character meets. Even when they were socially distant, they were still out meeting (and were interacting with people). And how did they become an annoying pain? They are the same now as they were back then

Not sure what to make of this thread approaching a year old where the discussion is driven by someone who hasn’t been to the parks in 30 years.

No need to "develop them" again...

They could bring back Illuminations 2000 and the Tapestry of Nations and the Main Street Electrical Parade as they were, and people would still love them!
