May 4th, 2025 - 13 Night Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise from Port Canaveral to Barcelona (Castaway Cay, Azores, Lisbon, Cádiz)

Booked the flight to Orlando on miles yesterday. Feels like the trip is becoming more of a reality now. We also have DVC for a pre-cruise stay booked already.

Hey everyone! Wanted to introduce myself and my son, Orren. We will be traveling with my parents and sister to celebrate their big 25th anniversary. This will be our second DCL cruise (our first is this upcoming November on Dream).
  1. Has anyone ever traveled on DCL with a special needs child? My son has a g tube/feeding tube and DCL has informed me that he can participate in the nursery, splash pad, etc BUT this mama's a tad nervous.
  2. Are there any other families with a kiddo around the age of 1-3 who would want to meet up periodically for a splash pad play date, etc?
We are so excited to go on this adventure with you all!

:welcome: to this thread and the DIS @Aislinn Schepers!

I am sorry that I can’t help with the perspective as we have no kids.

You might want to head to the general cruise board to start a thread asking for experiences with special needs kids. I am sure there are some people who can give you their experiences.

Hello!
We've just booked on this cruise!
We managed to get a good one way flight to MCO from the UK using our Virgin points -

Super excited, we've done a 10 night cruise before last year (Norwegian Fjords) and loved it but this will be our longest yet.

Super excited

its just me (34) and my mum (64)

Let the countdown begin.

My mum, sister, and I, are booked on this cruise for my birthday. We are planning on doing 4 days at WDW before the cruise then taking the DCL bus to Port Canaveral.

This will be our first platinum cruise and also our longest cruise so far.

Hi there! :wave2: Welcome to this tiny group! It will be our first Platinum cruise as well (at least for the husband, so besides the lanyard I will profit from his status, too).

Where are you staying at WDW? We will have 6 nights at our DVC at Wilderness Lodge and are probably going to take the DCL transfer as well.

I totally missed your post! Welcome to this group!

Using points is definitely the way to go for these one way flights. We will use American Airlines miles.

We love long cruises. Our longest was a 15-night Panama Canal cruise.

We will be staying at Boardwalk before the cruise. We have finally sorted our park tickets which is progress. My next challenge is flights, the prices each way are killing me right now! And cruise final payment day is nearly here! Still so many things to sort out lol

Yes, we are not happy with flight prices either… We are most likely flying Norse from Berlin to Miami, then drive up (or take train) to Orlando. Less than half of anything on a legacy carrier. If you can get creative with your airports, it might help… Google flights lets you search for multiple cities at as time.

I had to cancel my reservation about three weeks ago due to my budget, as I am now going solo. I will be rebooking when VGT or IGT go on sale because I will have the budget for one of them.

I did book my hotel in Barcelona on Expedia since it's fully refundable until May 15th. I'm staying at Hotel Constanza for a few days after the cruise for a decent price I think (little less than $500 for three nights with Expedia insurance).

For flights, it depends on what travel credit card I'm gonna get. I'm still trying to figure out if I could get the Capital One Venture. If I get that card, I will be going through Turkish by transferring my miles. If I can't, I will be getting the AMEX Delta Skymiles Gold Card (I'm pre-approved) and going through Delta.

Sorry that your friends dropped out!

After a morning of stress trying to book a VGT as they were selling out, I was able to do so! I am so beyond grateful to my TA, Wes, for getting me on after about 3-4 attempts. I was using multiple cards, so he had to call every time, but he got it for me.

I am booked and paid! Hopefully, I will get my stateroom number soon, but we'll see. Can't wait to see you guys there!
