Is QS dining plan worth adding?

I was just wondering if adding the QS dining plan is worth getting or should we just pay as we go. I know we would have to book a package, we would just get 1 park ticket due to we have 4 days left on a previous ticket.

We did the QSDP on our trip last year and wrote down the amounts we would have paid on each receipt and we ended up saving in the long run. :lovestrucWe liked it so much we are doing the same dining plan again and just paying OOP for the 1 ressie we have. Hope this helps.

I think that it depends on how you eat. If you eat a counter service meal when you go then it may be worth it. I some times share because I am not that hungry or sometimes my kids aren't that hungry so they get a kids meal instead. In Epcot we like to snack on different things around the world so we don't usually eat a full lunch or dinner.

It's not bad if you are going to use it but if you don't then you end up spending more.

I'm looking into it. In the past we used the basic DDP, did lots of character meals, etc. But this time my oldest will be 10 (a disney adult) and we are only going to keep a couple of our ressies, so we thought we'd do better in the long run just eating QS and paying out of pocket.

However, today I was looking at the QS plan and hadn't realized you get 2 snacks per person and everyone gets a mug. That would probably really make it work for us... for the snacks alone. We have five kids and we like to indulge them with treats in the park. Honestly, I've been doing the math and I think the price of the QSDP won't be much more than what we'd spend on a frozen lemonade, snack and one meal each day... so with two meals and two snacks and the mugs... I think we'll try it. :thumbsup2

Tried it last year and liked it. We just like to prepay for our meals. Otherwise, I would be staring at those Disney prices and trying to economize our meals rather than just enjoying the ability to eat anything on the menu. Our kids could ask for anything and I didn't have to say no. It's nice to live that way for a week!

We just had it a couple of weeks ago. We had plenty of food. We had ressies for 3 character/sit down meals, ate breakfast in our room 2 time. We were there 10 night, but only 9 nights on DDP because we ended up flying in a day early due to weather and adding one night. We actually had excess snacks at the end and brought home quite a few. It is really nice not to have to carry money around or keep charging to the card. Also, it is nice not to feel like you should pick the cheaper choices. But if you tend to not eat much then it may be too much food for you. I would do it again...I feel like we came out on the good end. I must say that after 10 days we were a bit tired of the food choices. I would recommend trying some of the other resort restaurant choices. We LOVED POR with the build your own pasta counter. Also like CSR Pepper Market, but keep in mind that you should tip at this one. Not a bad deal unless you are really into sharing meals (my DH just won't do this), or you just don't eat much.

I am assuming from your comments on the tickets that you have a 5 day stay? I think that QSDP often suits people better on shorter trips by removing the element of slavery to the ADR times ;)

For some reason QSDP seems to be a lot of food and yes, the extra snacks and mugs make all the difference. If you think you may not be able to utilise all your credits (which will decrease the value of the plan) I would suggest trying to get CS "meals" to share instead of using all your snacks during the trip. For example, use a CS meal for pastries and a beverage at Main St Bakery and share those as your snacks. Save CS desserts you don't feel like for snacks later in the day, etc. The reason for this is at the end of your trip it is easier to use up snack credits and take goodies home with you than to get rid of leftover CS credits. Just a thought.

My family would have no problem using up the credits, I have 4 teenagers who are big eaters. I was just wondering if you get your money's worth.

Our trip is from Dec. 5 to 12, we have 4 days left on our tickets from last time, so we would be using those and just getting the required 1 day base ticket due to getting the QS dining plan. We also plan to do 2 sit down meals at some point during our trip.

Thanks for the responses, I think I am leaning toward getting the QS dining plan.

If you are big eaters then absolutely I think you will get your money's worth. If you use all of the credits, and you would have eaten that much without the plan, you will have saved money in most cases. The convenience is very nice also, and I love not having to feel like I SHOULD pick the less expensive choices to save a few dollars. If you have a spouse that pinches those pennies it is nice to have everything already paid for up front so they aren't cringing whenever the wallet comes out! Give it a try!
