Is Mineral Makeup "Addicting"?

I really liked the BE in the fall and winter. Now that summer is here I find the BE doesn't hold up well on my oily skin. I think I will switch back to my old makeup until the fall.

I use other eye shadows! I did just order some well rested (which started as an eye shadow) but I plan on using in under my other shadow. I also read that it helps with dark circles (crossing my fingers).

BE makes something called Eye Revver-Upper. The RU kind of gives a little luminosity to the undereye area. I have tried Well Rested under my eyes alone, but it always enhanced my lines. Well, my co-moderator gave me a tip the other day that I used this morning. I took a little RU and added a smidgen of Well Rested and mixed them together. Then I applied that under my eye and on my lid. WOW! No lines and I look like I have had years of good sleep. Even after 7 years, I am still learning new tricks!

Mmmmm...Taylor Hicks......

Oh, sorry, that distracted me! LOL Have you tried a light layer of Mineral Veil under your foundation followed up with a final light application of MV when you are finished with all your makeup? Also, you might want to try a primer. That really helps set the makeup. Some of those include the following:

Smashbox Photo Finish
Fusion of Color - https://www.fusionofcolor.net/Catalog/home.php?cat=267
Philosophy The Present
Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-shine Mattifying Gel
L'Oreal Transformance
Sue Devitt's Microquatic - http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P102406&categoryId=3957
Dr. Denese's Pro Peptide Primer
DHC's Velvet Skin Coat

Hopefully one of these might work for you so you can wear your BE in the summer.

Thanks for the tip. I have the eye revver-upper, so I will definitely try it! I was using extra summer bisque under my eye, but it was enhancing the lines (I may have been using too much). I probably should have gotten the regular bisque because I am light/fairly light. I bought it at Sephora and the girl said they were the same thing, but the summer has SPF.

Oy! No, regular bisque and summer bisque are not the same. :) Regular bisque has pink undertones and summer bisque has yellow undertones. Any BE product that has titanium dioxide has natural SPF. The SPF amount varies with the amount of titanium dioxide. Unfortunately, the Sephora SAs are not well trained about BE, and many don't even know how to apply it properly.

Definitely try the minerals with the eye revver-upper. I was amazed at how well it went on...and stayed on!

OK - because of all I've read on the DIS about the bare minerals line - I went out an bought a starter kit yesterday. I don't usually wear makeup (with the exception of mascara and eye shadow), but as I'm getting older.... it was time to try and even out my skin tones and so on. Reading so much positive feedback about it here, I'm trying it. Today is first morning... So far, I really like it! My teen DD will try it to, and if she likes it, we'll switch out her other foundations that she uses for her stage work (musical theatre). Gotta say, it feels great on! :thumbsup2

Ok, don't make fun of me please. Just a newbie question:
Can I still use my favorite eye shadow (not BE) or is this frowned upon?
:confused3

No, go for it. I'm still using my eyeshadow b/c I need to get the basic BE technique down.

Alright, I am going to try it. This is not the last you will hear from me! I am sure I will have a million questions...

My mom just bought me the True all over face color. I'm nt really sure what it is for. It's kind of glittery. are yo usupposed to brush it over your face (if so it looks like I have glitter on it) can you use it for eye shadow? :confused3

I think BE has actually helped my acne. I had a pimple in between my eyesbrows and some how BM helped deflate it. My application time is getting quicker too. I have to sandwich the MV, but my face still looks great after being out in the Summer sun and humidity. I love the face Rever upper, its my favorite. :thumbsup2

I'm waiting for a few more products from colorfulsprinkles to arrive (after her son's wedding). I can't wait to play with those samples. Colorfulsprinkles is one of the best ebay sellers for BM. I also love her free shipping (free ship code is SHIPBE) through her online store. There's another SoCalStatGal that's pretty reasonable.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what Revver-Upper is. Is it a moisturizer? Do you use it on top of your regular eye moisturizer? Wouldn't mixing the RU and the Well Rested create a paste? Or did you mean to apply the RU first, then the Well Rested?

True can be used as a blush, as an eyeshadow, or you can lightly apply it all over your face as a brightener. You can also dip a lip balm into it and apply it to your lips. Actually, you can do this with any BE product. While they have a "blush," "eyeshadow," "glimmer" name, you can use them any way you want to.

True is a little sparkly, so you may want to use use it in the evenings or just use a little of it. There is a Soft Focus True that just came out that's less sparkly.

Revver Upper is one of those love it or hate it products, I've found. I'm in the hate it category because it makes me break out! I'm glad you are loving it, and I am sure it's helping with your acne. It has salicylic acid in it that helps speed exfoliation.

Eye Revver Upper is not a moisturizer, so I'd put it over mine. It's a lightener and brightener. It has minerals in it to help diffuse the light.

Yes, mixing too much Well Rested and the RU does make a paste! Just use a little bit of WR to add color to the RU and apply to the eyes. If it's a paste, add some more RU. You don't want to change the consistency.

If you apply WR over the RU, you may get some of the same problem of the minerals settling into the lines.

Here's how one described what Rever upper is...."bareVitamins is the first step to our Bare Escentuals routine. It helps to smooth your skin’s surface , while providing you with a clearer and healthier complexion.

The special blend of glycolic and salicylic acids and botanical extracts give your skin the equivalent of a multi-vitamin experience. It is lightweight and fragrance free. Perfect for all skin types and does not leave a oily or heavy residue.

bareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper is the perfect addition to your skin routine. You will love the way it feels and functions with your Bare Escentuals products as much as I do.
".....

I put the Rever Uper on first concentrating where my pores are. Rever uper is not a moisturizer so I put on my moisturizer on top then my BE sandwich.

Thanks for the quick reply. In what do you mix the RU and the Well-Rested? In the jar top of the well-rested? Do you apply this to the top of the eyelid also or just under the eyes?

I might be wrong, but I think she was asking me about the Eye RU and not the Bare Vitamins RU.

I'm really bad because I put a dab of the Eye RU on my finger, and then I dip it into the Well Rested. Ideally, you'd put a dab of Eye RU on something slick, like a BE lid, a small plate, etc. Then you'd sprinkle a little WR on there, and then mix them together. I put most of the mixture under my eye, but I do put a little on my eye lid. It makes a good primer that helps your eyeshadows adhere better. My favorite eye primer, though, is MAC Paint in Untitled.

Thanks :thumbsup2 I know this sounds funny but what is a lip balm that you would dip into the True to use it on your lips?

BE makes a lip balm, Buzz Latte that is awesome. You could just use any lip balm that you like. I like to take some of the glimmers and just use my finger to apply to lips then apply a clear lip gloss.
