on our first day, we're going to eat at The Mara after we check in for lunch... is the food good, or should we head to a park instead?

...personally, after the hectic frenzy of catching a flight, securing luggage, arranging travel to AKL, checking in, and getting your room, I find it better to unwind by relaxing, grabbing something to eat, and just exploring AKL. But, that's just ME - you know best how you and your family are on vacay, so ultimately, you need to do what's right for you - the Mara is a PERFECT way to start off an AKL vacay!:thumbsup2

I agree with Kim - the food at Mara is good - and it's quick if you did want to venture to a park or downtown disney after, but depending on when you get in, etc...... I must agree, arrival day is a good "explore the resort" day, relax and get settled in - too many times people don't enjoy the resort and all it has to offer - but, yes, you'll be fine with Mara for lunch!! Enjoy

Just stopping by to say hello:goodvibes So busy I haven't been here in 4 days:eek:
I miss you all:grouphug:

210 more days until AKLV:cheer2:

Hey Girl................ good to see ya, but even happier you are working!!!!! Hope things are going well for you guys! :goodvibes

This morning I called to add DELUXE dining plan to my AKL-Jambo Deluxe Studio stay... Is there no end?! :rotfl2: It's as if, if I'm not vacationplanning/ tweeking, I don't know what to do with myself.

Although, here was me booking ADR's today... :badpc:

I think for our Oct. trip we are going to do Deluxe again........... DH and I want to hit up some signature places this time.

Okay, so I got notification back that the room I would be booking is a king only, but as usual the person I am working with is not available until Monday. I am still trying to figure out where I am suppose to put the kids?? Yuck, this sucks!

I haven't read back on all the post - but, are you staying CL? I'm not sure who you are working with, but Don and Juanita at AKL IPO are fantastic - perhaps a call or email to one of them could get you the answers you are looking for. Good Luck!!! :goodvibes *** OH, and I wanted to add that your dates in Dec. are going to be VERY VERY VERY crowded!!!!!!! Kim posted some pics of when she went for Christmas - all I can say is YIKES!!!!!!!!!!! This past year we went the first week of Dec. and it was really nice, low to moderate crowds, but just be prepared for hoards of people.

That's exactly what we were thinking. We have to leave our house at 3:30 am to go to the airport, so we're going to be tired... our flight lands at 10:30, so I figure we should hopefully be at AKL by 12:30. We're definitely going to be hungry, so we thought we could just hang out at AKL after we check in and eat there and explore, nap, possibly swim since I'm anticipating how tired we will be! We have dinner reservations at Boma that night at 7. We figured if we weren't too tired, we'd go to probably MK after dinner and try to catch the parade or wishes, and then call it a night.

Yes we are staying CL, but I need a handicap accessible room, and I have two teenagers of different sexes who well, DONT SHARE A BED. Not that I would ever ask then, and there's no room for a cot. So I asked if they had bunk-bed room handicap, none exist in the hotel. I am working with Don and Ben and they are transferring information to someone higher up I guess to find out my options. I really hate this and I don't use the word hate often. Just because I am handicapped I shouldn't have to make my kids sleep in a bed together. Even at Pop we got a cot. It totally makes me wonder if when they planned the disability rooms that they forgot parents on the committee. I know it will work out, but I really hate the thought of having to pay for two rooms, just because I got sick. It's a double whammy and makes me sad.:sad2:

Sorry this is so hard for you. I had a feeling there were no HA rooms with bunk beds. At least Don & Ben are trying to work with you on it.

I'm very disappointed in the IPO (first time I've ever said that - till now I've been one of their biggest boosters). We've stayed at AKL more times than I can count, and at least 7 of those stays have been CL. So I send IPO an email with my reservation # and dates, telling them how excited we are to be coming back and telling them something about DD and how special a trip this will be for her. What do I get back? The "canned" response of all that's available -- not even a comment like "glad you're coming back". Thanks Ben. :sad2:

We had some bumps with our stay and while it may have made other's just walk away, we are jumping back in.

Even though you received the canned response, they most likely are listening. They may have a lot of ADRs today, or even a meeting of some sort. If I learned one thing this last trip, be honest. Send another email, tell them how you already sent it, but maybe it didn't come across the way you intended. Really tell them how important this stay is, that you are a repeat customer, and that your daughter's birthday is the reason for the stay. You are paying for your service, and while we all know they are not their to bow to us, common courtesy and a few extra minutes to acknowledge you costs NOTHING.

And I need to hijack for a second. Sorry if I sound so negative lately. I believe most of you know how horrible February stay was for me. My husband is working his butt off literally and really (I don't like the look on him, he has a pancake butt now:scared1:) to get me to Disney hopefully at Christmas time, but definetely at my birthday time next year. WE are not rich, and if anyone would have even told me we would be Disney-addicts a few years ago I would have laughed:lmao:. Bottom line, I become disabled, lose my income and have to save double because you can't not travel with your kids a Christmas. Okay, it's out, the tears are drying, back to positive posts, and hopefully a room for all off us at the Inn (really corny Christmas reference!:rolleyes1)

We all feel your pain, believe me. :grouphug: The most important things in life are our health and our families. Kids grow so fast, the time to make your memories is now! I think I can speak for every one of the regulars on this thread when I say we will support you in any way we can. Don't ever worry about coming here and whining or letting off steam or whatever else you need to do.

I shouldn't have whined about IPO though. Don and I have spent so much time on the phone in recent years, I started to think of him as a "friend"!! Ben's email is what made me realize they don't always take the time to read their emails! ;)

Thanks for the hugs. Usually I put up a front, but this one has me down and the hug was really appreciated.

I am suppose to receive a call this afternoon regarding my options. Wish me luck!:worship:

Well after sending a great letter on how wonderful this woman who was helping me, never called me back and sent a letter saying she would be out for a few days. Discouraging does not even begin to say how I feel. I guess Disney doesn't want my money.

I"m glad to hear they are working with you to come up with a solution - I'm certain they WILL find one!! Just hang in there. And, not to make light of the situation or how you feel - but, your trip is still a LONG way off, maybe they aren't "putting you off" or "not calling you back" right away, because they probably have A LOT of people to deal with NOW - or in the very near future. I'd like to believe they DO know what you need and will do everything they can to ensure it works for you! But, Dec. is a long way off when they may have pressing matters to get to for those traveling right now. I hope that makes sense and maybe offers you a little bit of encouraging thoughts - Good Luck and keep us posted!!! I'm sure they are just busy and NOT ignoring you or your needs!! :flower3:

What I wouldn't give to have some of these right NOW

...mebbe THESE'll lure the guys on over here:

...after all, it IS Friday! :teeth:

Hey all:goodvibes
Happy Tuesday! My day off:woohoo:

Yes, Elin, how is Bob doing? He looked great on that pic the other day on FB:goodvibes

Reading complaints about AKL CL is making me nervous and usually this stuff doesn't get to me:sad2: I should be hearing from IPO soon, I guess. 4/15 will be the 6 month mark, and I'm really not sure what I even want them to do for me..We're meeting friends there, and we have stuff planned w/them almost every day...But we're only @ CL level for the first 3 nights, so I want to take advantage of it...We're thinking Wanyama on arrival day, since we've no plans w/friends on that day..But thats only if we're both working...Otherwise it'll be $400 for us:scared1: I'm sure it's worth it, but I can't justify it.....But at the same time we want to treat ourselves, this was originally supposed to be our wedding day until we had to change plans:sad1:...Scott wants Le Cellier for lunch one day, I'll see if they can book that..If we don't do Wanyama, we'd still like to eat @ Jiko...And Sanaa is a must every trip, we'll eat there whenever, even if it's after we've changed resorts.

Oh which reminds me, Friday was my 7 month mark to call DVC to try to get the last 5 nights switched from SSR to BWV, they had all but 1 night 10/20:sad2: So we're waitlisted for it....I hope it works out, it's just so much easier to stay there during F & W....BCV was missing 2 nights, so we didn't even bother waitlisting there.

You know, I was just thinking about Elin and Bob - hope all is well with both of you. I agree, the pic you posted the other day was great!!!

Jen - IPO can book your dining reservations for you - so, you won't have to do that - I guess if you can swing wanyama, they can do that - not sure what else you need/want them to do? Enjoy it either way!!! Glad to hear all is going good with you! :hug
