I've asked on the budget boards, probably not the right place too...:lmao: but
I want to apply for a credit card to make renting the van for August easier.

We have been credit card free for over 15 years. I have no clue what is the best out there. I know I really don't want a yearly fee, unless you can tell me the perks are worth it.

So does anyone have a card (true credit card) that they would recommend?

I have the Disney Visa. I don't think that it has the best deal, but it is a way to assure that I have fun money when I go. I don't feel as guilty if I'm using my reward dollars when I want to splurge. Also, I wouldn't put anything on the card unless you have the money to pay it off in full. I can't justify paying interest on things. I have a separate checking account for vacations. I am currently tutoring to save the money for my son's graduation trip, and that goes directly into that account. And anything left over from other budgeting goes in there, too.

WOO HOO, Look at my post count:banana: Close to 5000 and it only took me just over 6 years:rotfl2:

Whoa! 5K and a fancy tag! Congrats!:cool1:

Tinker'n'Fun: If this link works, it should bring you to the page to apply for the Disney Visa (all their terms & conditions are listed). Right now they're offering a $25 Disney Gift Card after your first purchase. I've seen better than that in the past and I'm not sure $25 (plus 1% on purchases) would be enough to get me to apply for it (I already have 2 of them anyway!! :rotfl:)

If you think this credit card might be the one you want, I'd suggest calling Chase Visa's 800# and asking if they can offer you a better Disney Gift Card amount for applying! ;) (you might say friends have gotten $40 and $100 - those are definitely 2 amounts they have offered recently! :))

Just stopping in to introduce myself and say HI! We are staying at AKV-Jambo for the first time in January, and I have no clue what to do to make the time go by faster. We have loved AKL from the second we stepped foot in it two years ago for our Boma ADR, and being able to stay there has been a dream of ours.

Anyways, HI! :)

Welcome. I think it is safe to say that you came to the right place to profess your love of AKL.

Alright, I just spent the last few hours planning out our trip. Our first day is going to be spent mainly at AKL. I can't wait!! We land at 10:30 am, and should be at AKL and checked in by lunch time (I hope!) We'll have lunch at Mara... then check out the resort, swim, & nap (we have to leave at 330 am for the airport). We have ADRs that night at Boma, then if we're not too tired we'll hop on over to the MK for the electrical parade, Wishes, and a Dole Whip! 58 days to go! :)

:yay: Hope to see y'all there! :goodvibes I'll be there 9/29-10/9.

I like to get an early start on F&WF, coming in a day before the "official" start! ;)

We'll be there too- around my DD's birthday (which is Oct. 3rd) :thumbsup2

That's great! I think we all need to plan a Dis Mini-Meet or 2!! :thumbsup2

Tinker'n'Fun - we'll "toast" your 20th anniversary on 10/3! Sorry you won't be at WDW then, but at least you'll be counting down to your December trip! ;)

:goodvibes

Weeee!! I'll be in Jambo tomorrow!!!!

Any news on if the new Mugs are at the Mara yet? Xx

Awww, thanks for the kind Welcome!

I am a bit addicted to anything remotely related to AKL currently. Yesterday, at the library I found a kids book titled, "jambo means hello: Swahili alphabet book"

http://www.amazon.com/Jambo-Means-Hello-Swahili-Alphabet/dp/0140546529

I of course had to check it out, and planned on copying the pages to make a book for myself, er I mean the kids- until I just noticed that I can buy it for only $7 at Amazon.

anyways, thats my random story of the day, not even sure what I will do with the book- maybe force the kids to learn swahili so they can impress the CMs at AKL :)

...stoo-pid boss...

That's the truth. His anniversary is the following week, so hey, I say go, enjoy on your anniversary week. You can even start on the 6th. I will come home on the 5th. day after mine. Hubby told me that he will now "NEVER" get our week off. So no 25th., no 30th. I seriously told him to look for another job. I know, bad economy, no jobs, but he needs to LOOK!! I am serious. No anniversary weeks at Disney ever. Sorry but his boss is being selfish. Especially since his is the following week.

I even planned and had to cancel.... I was soo excited. That's why we went in February.

Okay, how many times have I told this story, be honest. My memory sucks!!

Sorry I have been MIA... but real life has gotten in the way. Having Bob back in Fredericksburg has been a blessing and a hindrance to my free time! I have to assume that things are on an even keel since I haven't gotten any other emails or phone calls. I know that many of you are busy planning trips and trying to make things work out best for your families... And some of you are working hard at your new jobs. I do think of you... just not a lot of time to post.

Elin - I feel the same way as you..I think I've been MIA for at least three months. Things have changed in a big way at both our jobs and life has just been toooooo crazy. I need to be better and at least check in on this thread occasionally!

Seems like a bunch of Jambo peeps will be there the first week of Oct. I was suppsoed to be at the Poly 10/1-10/8 with my BFF and her family. DH is not going on this trip. Even with my 40% off code it's still a bunch of $$$ so I'm thinking I might just stay with my points at AKV. ( I did try BLT, but they have no studios available.)

I was worried about being solo and not having fun at the Lodge, but with so many people there that week, I'm thinking it may not be a bad idea.

Anyone have any idea how much a cab is between AKL and the Poly?
