Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

well... since I said a couple times I wished him well... even complimented him, said he was knowledgable and resilient... not sure why you assume I have an issue with him

and still have not clarified... what is so obvious?
Read back. Maybe you took my post the wrong way. Maybe I could’ve used different words. Whatever.

The obvious is what happened the other day. (I thought that was obvious, ie what we were taking about.)

If we were talking in person I would say to you, what is it that you don’t like about Piers? It’s a serious question.

I realize there have been others critical of him on this thread. Personally I happen to find him entertaining and I enjoy reading his columns. (I have never watched him on TV.)

Personal accountability and acknowledgment of past, present, and future challenges seems to be lacking with both M&H. It is growing tiresome with some of these millennials in their 30s still acting and/or being referred to as kids. The fact is they are adults. They should own their decisions and actions 100%. Not the woe is me. As pp said upthread humans are flawed. So right you are.

Hypothetically speaking here, lets just say if M&H were scapegoats, which is awful in itself, as some of us personally know all too well. As "scapegoats" you walk away with the understanding that no matter what you say or do, that nothing will change the past, present, and future. The absolute last thing a scapegoat wants to do is sacrifice themselves for slaughter once more. They aren't looking for any gain except for having peace within their own lives and nothing more. The one who loses the most in the end is the scapegoat. M&H's decision to leave was respected. So much so that The RF gave them a year timeline to reconsider just in case there was a change of heart vs. just cutting them out and saying bye you're cancelled. Very gracious on The RF part and they showed warmth and understanding. Unfortunately with the public airing of M&H's grievances for entertainment value for the entire world to see doesn't make M&H scapegoats. Not one bit. The tit for tat needs to end.

As far as Piers goes, He recognized that he no longer fits into his place of employment and he resigned. Happens quite often with celebrities, journalists, and every day simple folks. He'll branch off most likely satellite and continue on.

Especially since the whole kerfuffle was apparently about whether or not the younger bridesmaids would wear tights. Almost 3 years after the wedding, who gives a flying flip what the bridesmaids wore? Tights or no tights. Big stinking deal. But sure, let's make a big stink about it with Oprah. :rotfl2:
Except a mama knows a little girl may get blisters without socks or tights. Not to mention it's a preference of the Queen. Some want to live or die on every hill.

Thank you for the clarification...
Can't say I ever thought much about Piers one way or another... not someone on my radar... I think I remember him most from the Talent shows (which I didn't really watch)

But in general... I do think people making mean comments about another people's mental health stuggles are not in good taste, i prefer giving someone the benefit of the doubt rather than be wrong about them actually struggling.

Again, just not good personal karma for me.

I was critical mainly of Andrew... i did call him a creep, so I will own up to that bad.

I hope the tit for tat ends. However, as a poster mentioned above. one of M’s friends has emails about one of the bombshell revelations. I can’t imagine that H&M were honest about the interview being the last word. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Plus I bet it’s kind of drafty in those big, old buildings.

It was draughty outside too that day - poor lady Louise (Edward and Sophie's daughter) had her dress lifted up at the back by a gust of wind as she was helping the bridesmaids!

and also little girls tend to pull their dresses up and fidget with their pretty puffy skirts lol... tights are safer than seeing some panties going down the aisle

It wasn't grandma's wedding.
But grandma is THE Queen. A very unique situation for sure! It always amazes me how some have a difficult time respecting protocol and/or their elders aka authority figures. Megs wanted all the trappings but none of the rules? And still... little girls may get blisters without socks or tights. ;)

And all the RIGHT TRAPPINGS, i. e. the tiara of Megs’ choice

Life is a give and take. Really a family feud over tights? I'm not British and I know how QEii feels about hose.
Unless you are acting like a Bridezilla. I don’t think Bridezilla behavior was a thing way back when we got married in the Stone Age.

Here's how it should have gone:

Oprah:"So the word is that you made Kate cry over a dress fitting. What is up with that??"

Meghan: "Oh gosh - this was such a silly dust up over a minor issue. It's really embarrassing that that you feel this needs to be addressed over three years later. Kate and I had different opinions on something that blown out of proportion. I'll say that I wish I had handled it differently. You know how things get - pre-wedding stress and Kate had recently given birth to my adorable nephew only a couple of weeks earlier. Everyone was a bit on edge. Whatever happened - I apologize if I hurt her feelings in any way and she did send me flowers afterwards so it's really a non issue with no relevance on anything today."

Instead we get - Oh! It was Kate that made ME cry NOT the other way around. She was the only one in the wrong and she knew it. She sent me flowers to apologize because she knew it was all her fault. I behaved perfectly and am the completely innocent party.

The pantyhose thing is a great example of why the royal family is failing to appeal to younger generations. It’s such a petty thing to have a rule about, it’s unnecessarily stuffy, and frankly out of touch with anyone under the age of... well, I don’t want to insult anyone who still wears pantyhose. Again, I’m not that young myself but the 80s were the last time I remember pantyhose being on my radar. Are they still sold in stores, even?

Exactly!
