Is BOG overrated?

SO I was thinking of booking BOG for either lunch or dinner in January. I noticed that it's not so easy getting an ADR there - the menu doesn't seem too huge or spectacular, but the ambiance def seems cool. Should I change my plans around for which parks I plan to visit based on being able to dine here or not bother?

I will be travelling with my sis and niece (17) and nephew (14). Thanks

Yes, yes...it's terribly over-rated, especially if you are going Dec. 9 to Dec. 14! :rotfl:

The food has mixed reviews, but it's a new, different place, and the decor is beautiful inside.

If one of you was a big Beauty and the Beast fan, it's a must do...you think you are in the Beast Castle.

We had lunch there last year, and will go again this year, but we go often enough that we don't mind eating early or standing in line.

LOL I tried for ADR between 1/19-25 and nothing is available at all! LOL I guess i'm not going there after all!

We were able to walk up this past March in the midst of spring break, so maybe you'll have some luck there. We really enjoyed the meal there

For lunch-I would say no. For dinner-yes. It is a neat place to eat if you don't expect to much from the food and want to see the castle.

Atmosphere is really cool, and of course, the fact that it is still "new" is what is keeping it so hard to get an ADR. I suspect it will become easier over time, and it's definitely worth it to eat there at least once. We have done dinner, but not lunch, although I consistently see people saying that lunch is better than dinner...which I suppose probably supports expectations. Nobody goes to BOG expecting an outstanding lunch, so if expectations are low, a meal that turns out good will seem even better! I think we all had very high expectations for dinner (maybe the fact that they serve beer and wine makes it seem a little fancier?!). To be fair, it was good and actually priced decently compared to alternatives. It's definitely the nicest food in the Magic Kingdom and probably the best (nice and best do not always equate). But as most folks would agree, that's a pretty low hurdle, at least if you're looking for "fine dining" in that park without having to go to a monorail resort (which we tend to do as often as not).

If you are planning to be in MK one night for dinner, it would be worth some continued effort to try to get the BOG ADR (they tend to open up as people cancel randomly, so there's a reasonable chance you could end up getting one). But if you don't get it, I would not be too concerned.

I've only been to BOG for lunch, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! You have to be prepared to wait in line for a looooooooong time, but knowing that ahead of time it's no big deal. Or, get in line at 10:30, we did that and there were about 20 people ahead of us. I loved the food, and the inside is absolutely gorgeous! IMO, it is - by far - the best QS at the MK.
I definitely think you should try it out. Others have mentioned in other threads to keep trying to get an ADR, you never know when one will open up. I wasn't fortunate in that regard, but that's okay, their dinner menu doesn't look as good as their lunch menu to me.

We have eaten both lunch and dinner at BOG and prefer lunch. If you're mainly interested in the interior design and atmosphere/ambiance I think lunch will be fine. You'll be able to walk around and see all the rooms and usually choose your own table at lunchtime. Your food will be brought to you by CMs in the carts used at dinnertime for the dessert service so you'll get to see those as well. Also, at lunch food is served on real dishes. Only the drinks will be in paper cups and you'll have to get your own silverware (not plasticware) and napkins and drinks.

The main differences between lunch and dinner are the entree offerings and a few additional appetizers (soups and desserts are identical at both meals), beer and wine is available at dinner and the photo op with the Beast is only at dinner.

The ballroom is beautifully designed, but huge so it is well suited to a counter service venue, rather than a quiet and romantic dinner.

I think it's a great place to eat for dinner and definitely the nicest in MK! I didn't understand all the negative reviews I have seen so far. I got a reservation one week out where they seemed to open up multiple reservations at the last minute so I would keep trying and it may not be until the end. We went in August and it didnt' look like a pleasant experience to wait in line in the heat for Lunch, although I heard lunch is very good. You must do it once and form your own opinions. I had a great experience there.

As for us it's like TSM, is new, everyone want to see or do and mostly it's over rated....

We had no interest in TSM, not doing the RD stampede or waiting hours to ride...same with BOG, other things to see and do that require no extra plotting or waiting... 2-3 years from now...will be soon enough..!

The food is overrated but the atmosphere isn't! Just depends on what you value...

I think it is. I don't like any of the food there, though, and while the atmosphere seems cool, I can do without. Sadly, my father seems bent on eating here...*sigh*

We really enjoyed our dinner there in April. The restaurant is beautiful. The ambience is enchanting. And the food was great! We all had steak so I can ony comment on that, but it was delicious! (As was the grey stuff) ;)

I just came back from a trip to Disney and had gotten a dinner reservation a week before our trip. My friend and I were on the dining plan, and I felt it was well worth a TS credit. Not sure if it would've been worth out of pocket. Before tip, if we paid out of pocket, it was $100 for two of us.
Now the food was delicious and the decor is fabulous. If you can somehow grab a reservation I say it's at least worth a one-time visit.
If I'm able to snag another reservation in the future, I'd definitely go back.

Have fun!

We ate dinner there in Febrary and thought it was ok. The atmosphere was great, but the food wasn't anything special. We went back last week and had dinner there again becasue I wanted my mother to experience it. We really enjoyed the food this time. I had the French onion soup and the steak and both were great. I just made reservations to eat there again next February. I would definately give it a try and see for yourself.

Just got back from our trip, we ate at Be Our Guest for lunch three times that week for quick services and it was amazing- we loved it. Yes you wait in line but we didn't wait more than 20 minutes, the process of ordering your food is what holds the line up but food came out immediately, we sat in each of the three beautiful rooms. Wasn't able to eat there for dinner but hopefully next time. :)

eh. It was the only "okay" meal I had all week. Shrimp and scallops, they weren't bad but they weren't absolutely delish like the other food I ate!

Oh no, overrated from Dec 9 to 14...oh no! I have three BOG dinner reservations that week.....my daughter is such a big fan she wants to be sure that she gets to eat in each room, lol. If you're struggling to get reservations, don't lose faith....I had just one made at our 180+10 window and then a week later she begs me to get more, of course they're all sold out....so everytime I was on the phone talking I'd be clicking and crossing my fingers.....that's how I got the other two reservations. They weren't there and then suddenly there was a time listed......and you gotta be fast too, because one time I clicked on the 6:40 time and by the time the next page loaded it was gone, I got the information page instead and no amount of clicking would get me anything then "no times available". So have faith...and hopefully you have a lot of friends to call on the phone!

3 times in a week is high praise! I hope we can get in for lunch but am wondering how the fast pass lunch reservation test will impact wait times...
