I've never rented a car before, but I think I may want to rent one on our next trip to WDW. The problem is, I don't have a credit card. Will car rental companies let you rent without a credit card? I have my check/debit card, but I've heard stories that they won't accept a check/debit card and it has to be a major credit card.

I know Alamo will with proof of a round trip ticket. Dollar will, IF you pass their credit check ( I have no time for that on my credit report) and a few others will.
You have to research each specific site for their rules.

It's possible but not easy. You'll have to call each (or check on their website) to see which will and which won't.

Like Gail said, Alamo is pretty good about it. I don't think National or Dollar are very good about it...credit checks and deposits required.

Good luck!

Hotwire allows you to specify that you'll be using a debit car and they will limit your options to the agencies that will accept that form of payment.
