HI there looking for tech help. And wondering if I need to get a new router.

It is a year and half old, Airplus Xtreme G 2.4GH Wireless broadband router.

I seem to be loosing connection to my own IP address. And connects to gmcrssys not even listed in internet to choose from. When it does it again I will post it. It goes from 54 Mbps to 2 . This happens every day when I go to turn on my computer have to repair a few times to get it to stay on.

Seems to happen after my son has used his computer. After a do repair it works.

Now my question is. Is my routering dying

Or is my son doing something that effects our IP address. I only ask that because he loves to download all these programs that speed up computer or stops you from loosing stuff in downloads if you Dc

Thanks for your help.

Bumpity bump. Now I know there are computer tech wizs out there. Anyone with any ideas hints suggestions anything a nibble???

It could also be your network card. Do you have other computers in the house that do or don't exhibit the problem?

Yes just me and my Dh but not my son. We will get network unplugged. On desk tops and then Dc from lap tops .

When my would fluxuate like that I was told to check for wires... speakers... etc something near the router that could interfer with the signal...
