I hear all of the dis'ers over on the budget board go on about the great referral program. Does anyone here know if ING direct Canada also does the same thing? I saw a listing on ebay for someone selling a $13 referral for ING Direct Canada, but nothing is listed on ING's website.

Does anyone have their savings account with them? The rates don't look to bad.

I have an ING account I really love it. I have them take out a set amount each momth automatically and I really love it! The interest rate is 2.5% which is really GOOD! and the money is not "right there" to use it you have to transfer it when you need it and it takes 1-2 days to get to you account. There is a referall program and you have check you PM for that, I can not post my code her but I would love for you to sign up, you get $13 for signing up and the person you sign up under gets it too!

I am going to send you a pm now.
:D

I love my ING Direct account.::yes:: The interest rate is much better than the rate offered by my regular bank.

Yes, ING Direct Canada has the referral program. I received an email about this a little while ago.

I also would like to find out more abut this. sonds like a good way to save for trips. Can you arrange to deposit in US funds?:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

I was also trying to find out about ING Canada's referral program and could not find anything on their website. If anyone has a link to the information on their website, I would appreciate if it could be posted. I was thinking about opening an account with them, but didn't because I wasn't sure if they had the type of program that they have in the States.

TIA.

There's a thread over on the budget board about what we can and cannot post regarding ING. Hopefully if we all follow the rules we can continue this thread without it being closed.

I too enjoy my ING account, it's my travel account and how I can save for our upcoming cruise/WDW trip. It's extremely easy to access if you wish as well. :flower:

Hi I am interested in this as well so if anyone can send me a pm to let me know about it, I would appreciate it. TIA Karen::MinnieMo

Me too, me too. I got jealous reading the budget board and then not finding anything about a referral program on the ING Canada website. Please PM me info also.

For those of you who have never banked online before, rest assured that this works quite nicely. In Toronto, there are bank machines to actually walk up to and deposit/withdraw. Here in London, though, they are no more.

Here's how it works. Your ING account is linked to your local bank on the corner, so you transfer money online back and forth. It does take a day or three ;) to actually move from one to the other, so you have to plan ahead to get your money in/out.

Within your primary account, you can have several mini accounts, so savings can be very specific. I have my "Mickey Money", my "Income Tax Savings" (we move money over each month, get the interest, and have the $$ ready to pay in April), "Music Lessons" (again, we move money over weekly, to help save for those darn things throughout the year) etc. Transfers between those accounts is immediate. You can even have a US$$ account, which, if you are near a bank machine, you can withdraw right then. ING used to use machines in Canadian Tire Stores. I loved that aspect and wish that they would return to that for the rest of Ontario that is not in TO.

Soon, when CPP and EI are paid up for this year, I will transfer the same amount from my pay, direct to my ING account. I won't feel the money gone (remember, I've been paying those things all year, so far) and the money saved will be directed to Christmas bills. THEN, when I start paying them again in January, I won't be screaming about the "drop" in pay.

When you open an ING account through a referral, you get $13 deposited into your account, as does the referring person. Referral can be done by hard copy, or online. When you sign up with ING, you will need to send a $100 cheque from your bank, and that will set up the necessary information for transfers. When we signed up, we got a phone call from a representative to complete the registration.

I have only used ING for their savings, and I can't say enough good about them. It works for our family. I am in the process of trying to convince the teens to get off the computer, and sign up for an account of their own. :) (They have an account with mine-they get the interest, and I pay the income tax.) If you have any further questions, feel free to pm or email.

Do you have to snail mail them a cheque from an existing bank account?? I was under the impression that you could do the whole thing on line. Also does that mean you can't link it to an existing savings account - that was my original plan because I have a small savings account I wanted to go through. I'm kind of nervous to link it to my larger chequing account (with minimum balances and all).

Barb, I'm not sure how you it goes with the "refer a friend" deal but you CAN enroll online (checked it out this morning). You'll find that page HERE I'm guessing that anyone who uses the "refer a friend" (and gets the $13 initial deposit) would also be able to do so online. Maybe someone above who has completed their application could let us know.

And I have 2 accounts linked with mine-one a chequing account and one a savings account. I think that you just need to send the complete banking information to them. You can call 1-800-464-3473 if you need assistance when you enroll.

Something else that I didn't make clear is that you CAN access your money immediately with the ING bankcard through ANY Interac machine, and ING does not charge to use the machine.

Hope that helps.

I've had my ING Direct account for about 2 years and I didn't know that I could create mini accounts. How do you do that?

When you are logged in as a client, click on the "Open new account" button. Fund your new account from your primary ING account. (It didn't have to be $100-any amount was okay) Voilá! Once set it up, though, I was able to transfer funds from the two outside accounts as well. :) HTH
