When I first joined the boards I had read a thread about getting information to become a Disney travel agent.....now I can't find it!

Can anyone help me with information about that or point me to the right thread link?

Anyone out there a Disney travel agent right now? Can you tell me a little bit about it?

Thanks for any help you can give!

I would love to know this also, if anyone could help us out!

You could work for a agency that does a lot of Disney vacations. There is also once you are employed at an agency a course called the College of Disney Knowledge. They send you information and then you take tests to be Disney certified.

Being a travel agent requires more than just a love of Disney. There are lots of abbreviations and information you need to learn.

I know, I realize that. I have always wanted to be a travel agent, so it's more than just a love for Disney.

I was commenting on the profession for anyone that was interested. Most agencies don't pay a lot. I have my degree in travel and tourism and decided to pursue a diff. career because of the money.

I fully agree with safety mom. I am a travel agent of 16 years. Just got my ears from the Disney college of Knowledge. When 911 hit, I watched my industry get trashed! It is now really booming, but...again it is not a good paying field for entry level. I would only recommend it if you don't need to support yourself doing it! You have to work full time, or make over $13,000 in commissions (which is on average 100-150K in actual sales)yearly to get the actual travel benefits.

I agree, I work for a wholsaler and the money is less than desireable. However it does have its benefits. I am going to Disney in May for a familiarization trip. Wooo hoo!!! We get to take some classes and do site inspections for all the hotels as well as get free entry to the parks at night.
