New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

https://disneycruiselineblog.com/20...3-assigned-to-disney-cruise-lines-new-builds/

According to the Meyer Werft Meyer Werft press document with a creation date of April 8, 2025 the hull numbers for the new ships are as follows:

Wish Class

N.N. Class

  • N.N. 2029 – s.731
  • N.N. 2030 – s.732
  • N.N. 2031 – s.733
Meyer Werft DCL OLC Ship Reference May 2025

All ship names, design plans and itineraries are still in development, with each of the ships expected to have their own unique experiences. The three vessels in Disney’s new ship class (rumored to be called the Meridian Class) will feature industry-leading technology and design to expand Disney Cruise Line’s global reach and support its environmental goals. Able to carry 3,000 Guests and measuring approximately 100,000 gross tons, they will be 20 percent larger than the Disney Magic class and smaller than the Disney Dream and Disney Wish classes, ultimately allowing Disney Cruise Line to access more ports and destinations across the globe, bringing its world-class entertainment, incredible dining, Guest service, and uniquely Disney experiences to more families in more places. The three ships are planned for delivery in 2029, 2030 and 2031.
Suggesting that the next class after Wish will actually be much smaller than even Dream/Fantasy.

Yes, the next 3 will eventually replace the Magic/Wonder
Torn about this. The Rapunzel/Tiana dining room, IMO, is the best balance of theme/entertainment while still allowing for dinner conversation and family time of all the restaurants in the fleet— we also love both of them (and the soundtracks from their respective movies)— we’ll be sad when they are gone. We also love the piano bars at the front of the ship, though the Cadillac theming never did much for me.

On the other hand, the one time we’ve sailed the Wonder our stateroom was in rough shape and I know they won’t keep Magic and Wonder around forever, so I’m glad they will be building a few smaller ships, which are definitely better for days on the private islands. Also, I will be glad to never have to do AquaDunk with my children again. 🤣

I hope we can still get the Wonder and the Magic for a few years after all the new ships debut!
Its certainly possible, especially depending on where the new ships are bound for. I know the highlighted phrase here: "[...]will feature industry-leading technology and design to expand Disney Cruise Line's global reach and support its environmental goals[...]" could mean a myriad of things, but it would be interesting if some of these new ships are NOT bound for Florida first like the Adventure. Perhaps they could be purpose built for cruises in various parts of the world and designed for those markets in mind. Replace the Magic & Wonder, then send the other two to a corner of the globe and have them stay there. Maybe they have plans like that for all four, meaning we keep the OGs. Maybe they doubt they're as marketable to fresh cruisers compared to the die hards we have here. ;)

Yeah I think everyone just assuming the magic & wonder are destined for retirement shortly after the new ships launch are making a mistake. I think they have another 15-20 years in them. Especially for a company like Disney that makes a fortune on nostalgia. Why retire them so soon?

20 years!? The Magic's lobby was flooding weeks ago. These ships have 5, 10 years max left in them.

Also, the older the ship gets, the more expensive maintenance becomes. Parts and materials that are obsolete and/or rare ect.

Yes I was on the Magic cruise when it was raining in the atrium actually! But I still think they are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Tianas doesnt have anywhere near enough music.

Family talking time is for the day. Not the night.

Oh wow, I didn't know about this! I've actually only been on the Wonder between the two oldest ships, so I gotta hurry and see the Magic soon. I think it usually does a Southern Carib. itinerary that at least would be something we haven't done

Oh, I have no "real" knowledge, just informed speculation, based on the ordering of the new ships and the typical lifetime of a modern ship! I would be surprised to see the Magic and Wonder operate alongside their similarly sized new sisters for long, if at all.

Agreed. When we sailed the Wonder in 2023, the captain mentioned wanting to come over to the Wonder (he had first captained on the Magic) before the two earliest ships reach the end of their time with Disney. He didn't have specific knowledge or dates, but he did say the older ships are not cost effective to run compared to newer models. So I would also guess maybe a 5-10 year span.

When young cruisers slide into Disney’s Oceaneer Club on the Disney Destiny, they’ll be transported to the candy-filled world of Sugar Rush from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Wreck-It Ralph.” Disney Imagineers are bringing the video game to life at the entrance of the Youth Activities area by incorporating colorful sweets into every detail, from the candy-shaped lighting fixtures to the custom carpet designed to look like the speedway from the film (with chocolate and caramel sauce outlining the racetracks!).

To tie the space together, Walt Disney Imagineering will bring in life-size statues of the film’s villain-turned-hero, Wreck-It Ralph, and his spirited sidekick, Vanellope von Schweetz. This duo perfectly embodies the dynamic duality of the ship’s heroes and villains theme, reminding us that even the so-called “villains” can be heroes in their own right.

Imagineer Meg Tracy, one of the creative minds behind the statues, is pictured reviewing the paint treatment to ensure each shade perfectly matches the animated characters from the film. With the finishing touches complete, the statues will soon be installed on Deck 2, ready to greet your little ones as they gear up for adventure!

Wondering just what differences would include. Something specific to that hull and related marine equipment? Something different about the design of the cabins? Different soft goods? New restaurant concepts?

Some of these would seem to be included in the basic design decisions while others seem to be just simple changes that would apply to any ship.
