In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Jo, you go!!! :yay:

Sorry I haven't been around much. I am reading daily but my life has been crazy crazy lately. Today I have choir practice from noon-3 and a concert from 7-10, and then tomorrow is hockey. I took yesterday "off"... which amounted to half the work as usual, a mountain of laundry, and replacing the kitchen faucet.

I have also gained a ton of weight this fall with all of the travelling and other crap, and it has to stop. Monday is recommitment day.

I may have to drop out of the OBX half due to both lack of training, and this stupid shin. I am going to try to do 1 short run and the long this week and see how it goes, and if the shin still hurts I am going to the dr and dropping out of OBX.

I want to be able to start Princess training in December and not be out injured...

Kat. I am sorry to hear you shin is still an issue. I will cross my fingers that you can still make it to your OBX half without being injured for the princess.

Ugh, Kat. Sorry to hear that you are struggling. I'm back on track with you Monday as well. I'm finally over that stupid congestion crap that was lingering for so stinkin' long.

I hope your shin pain goes away soon. You know me though - I do have to ask about shoes. Any idea how many miles you have on your current running shoes?

Jo. Wowza Jo. Look how far you've come. I'm so, so proud of you!

I wanted to thank you all so very much,
Without your help and support I would have never have come this far.
Last December I could barely run 1 mile. And in 2 weeks I will run/walk my first big race with 30,000 people.

I am still overweight and slow, but I am SO VERY GRATEFUL for you ladies and all of your support.

Disney Princess here I come !!!

And I Can't Wait!!

P/S, Today so far I don't feel so bad, my legs are tight but not to bad

nothing quite like the awkwardness of the teenage years....:rolleyes1

I have a bunch of them here tonight - now watching a movie. I get the distinct feeling that there's some unrequited love in the room....

Hello ladies. I have returned from North Carolina mostly in one piece. I definitely will catch up with all of you tomorrow. Yesterday I drank half a bottle of vodka and a small bottle of Captain Morgan, went to bed at 4:30am and got up at 7am so I'm a little tired. (Yet, thank my Irish genes, I was not hung over today.) Lots of wedding stories and things to come tomorrow!

Oh and Kat- I have fallen in love with the south. Want to take in a 28 year old?

Well, it's Monday. Re-commital day for me. I've already logged my breakfast into sparkpeople, so I'm off to a good start :goodvibes

The weather is rather icky here this morning. Warm-ish (for a late fall morning at least) but foggy and drizzly. I was hoping to be able to get a bike ride in, but the conditions just don't look good. I guess it's the gym for me instead.

I re comitted today also I have two weeks til my first
big race. so i am hoping to have no pop or junk for the next two weeks

Jo- I tend to be ok as long as I drink hard alcohol. Sorry to say I'm no beer or whine drinker. haha I can't wait for your race! I'm sure you'll rock it!

Kat- I hope your shin starts feeling better so you can do OBX but I really want you at the Princess so for completely selfish reasons I want you to be healthy to train for that! I tried grits while I was on my trip south, oh man did we all have a laugh over that.

I'm on board with the recommittal. I let myself have the weekend to enjoy because it was such a special weekend, granted I didn't eat that poorly due to the fact that things got so messed up for everyone food wise while we were away. I promise there's a story coming soon.

so. I did it. I tracked my entire day. It may not have been the prettiest of journals, but it's done. :thumbsup2

How was your day Kelly?

Kat, Lisa, Paula, EE, E, Ronda, Meg, Jo....hope everyone is doing well! :goodvibes

Hi...

I covered 600 miles of driving this weekend and haven't fully recovered yet. Was up .3 pounds at JC and feel very bloated from all of the junk I ate this weekend. I am signing on for the voyage towards recommital as well.

Sounds like everyone is doing well.

My recommitment isn't going well. I actually want to do well but work has me so stressed I'm just grabbing junk without thinking. I need to work on this.

On a happy note I was standing at the kitchen sink and I saw a pile of safety pins my mom has from all my races. She said to me she likes to keep them there in case I ever forget to grab some when I get my number for a race. Seeing them just now made me smile because my mom has become so supportive of my races and my running. She's so cute.

Ok off to run. Hope everyone is doing well.

Day 2 of recommitment is going well.

I made it to the gym at lunch, did a 5 min warm up walk, then 2 miles in 24:39, then a 5 min cool down. Best part about this is NO PAIN.

After the gym I went to Sam's and had a "feed the freezer" meat run. I love the "freeze me now" stickers (i.e., reduced for quick sale).

After work, it's Walmart and mounds of fresh veggies.

I also made my OBX room reservation and am going to do it even if I have to walk it all.

Kat, I am happy to hear that you are going to your OBX race. It starting to sound like your a little less stressed!

Me, I am doing pretty good with the eating. Well good for me anyway. No POP!! No Sweets. Other than my 100 cal pack. And I am tracking on sparkpeople!

my day has not been stellar. It has, however, all been tracked. I'm definitely over where I want to be, but I'm owning it and moving on.

Kat - so happy to hear that there was no pain when you ran today. Hopefully that will bode well for your OBX plan.

Meg - I love that your mom saves the safety pins.:goodvibes

Jo - what day is your race again? Nov 6th?

Tuesday. It's family dinner night for Paula. What did mom cook tonight? Any of dad's fabulous wine?

Kat - yeah for pain free running

Meg - food doesn't help in the long run with stress. I am right there with you though. Ugh - why can't I stop mindless eating?

Jo - you are so going to rock your race! Really.

Nancy - pork chops, spinach and potatoes. No wine for me, but too many insidious brownie bites. As I slap myself on the forehead - say it with me... Doh!

Crashing hard tonight. Two long, stressful days at work ahead. Whee...
