In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Last day of challenge.

All the best to all of you. :lovestruc Some fantastic results.

My results:

No idea scale wise but think maintained or lost very small amount. Don't think I gained though. Who knows five pounds can't be felt either way on me.

But mentally it was a great challenge. I have learned how to appreciate the now. I needed that so desperately. It was scary but in the end great.

And exercise was bang on but that's rarely an issue. Can you then imagine the size I'd be without the exercise? Holy cow. :lmao:

Ok, for the record, I have scheduled an appointment with my OB. It is in 2 weeks. Just an annual exam and whatever tests and crap they want to run.

So I call the office and say that I want to schedule an appointment with Jen, my OB/GYN. No problem. The secretary asks my name and I give it. Then the conversation goes something like this:

"Are you a new patient?"
"No, I have been with the practice for over 10 years."
"Hmmm....I can't seem to find you in the computer. Did you change your name?"
"No, but I haven't been in a while."
"Ok, let me check our inactive files then. When was the last time you were here?"
"I don't know. But it has been a few years."
"Oh, here, I think I might have found you. Is this your address?"
"Yes! That's me."
"Well, this says you haven't been here since 2003."
"That sounds about right."
"Well, we'll need your records sent from you other doctor."
"What other doctor?"
"Whatever other doctor you've been seeing in the area."
"Oh, I haven't been seeing another doctor in the area."
"Did you move away and come back?"
"Um. No. Why? I just told you my address is the same."

You see, she just could understand, couldn't GRASP that I hadn't seen ANYONE since 2003. :rotfl2:

She asked if there was any reason that she should be aware of. A long term illness, and anxiety about doctors. No, I just don't get sick. And if I'm not sick, then I don't see the need to go to the doctor. So then it goes like,

"Oh, so are you having some problems now?"
"No, I just figured it was time to come in and have everything checked."
"But you just said that you only like to go to the doctor when there is a problem."
"Can you just give me a date please?"

I couldn't tell her that my friends had shamed me into making the appointment! :rotfl2:

I forgot to say I loved this. :lmao:

Kelly!!!!

So Kelly I'm on the subway and I go OMG Kelly's post. Kelly's post!!! I forgot your post. So that's all I could think of. Boy Kelly you made my commute short. Cause I was like sh!t Kelly. sh!t Kelly sh!t Kelly like a mad woman over and over.

Kelly thank so much for your words. :lovestruc

Most people think Sh!t Kelly when they think of me :lmao:
Have a great trip

Night all. I won't be on much tomorrow. At the hospital all morning with Ri-guy (he has his ankle surgery). I'll pop in when we get home.

Hope all goes well with the ankle surgery
I forgot to say - excellent on making your appointment! The doctors surgery I go to is bang on with making you make your appointments - my Doctor specialised in Womens Health, so I get a letter two months BEFORE im due for an appointment reminding me to make one, and if you don't make one he will keep sending letters :rotfl: I love my doctor!

Challenge results this week:

Mixed week for me

Tracking - I was on fire tracking this week - I tracked EVERY DAY, even when it wasn't pretty!

Exercise - Not so good - I worked out TWICE, and went for a walk ONCE. Not great, this week is my week!

In-Laws Killed - NONE. Although it was touch and go yesterday, but I powered through it :lmao:

Good morning everyone! :goodvibes

Quickie post to thank you all for your kind words from yesterday. I am going to say the age old line and sincerely mean it, it's not you, it's me. Feeling a little lonely and lost is all. Nancy is right, this too shall pass. Thanks again everyone.

Nancy, late after a workout...here are my tips for you: (1) Wet ones (they are a life saver); (2) Dove body spray (it smells good like you just showered!); and, (3) dry shampoo. Yep, they are all in my gym bag and I use them after EVERY workout...especially when I have to pick up the kids afterward and there is no shower time!

Erika, glad to hear you made the appt. Happy thoughts today for the surgery.

LisaV, you have a supremely wonderful trip. Tell Savannah I said hi. Sometimes I miss it, like now, when the weather is so yeeech.

Multivitamins question: I forgot this one from the other day. I used to take 2 fish oil tabs, 1 niacin tab (high cholesterol recommendations) and a multivitamin. Then I discovered red yeast and bee pollen. My energy is better, my allergies are better, my skin is better and my cholesterol is better too with just a couple of pills. Everyone should check out bee pollen, it is a wonder supplement! My other piece of advice for those who DO take vitamins is that you should take them at night. Why you ask? If you drink coffee or any other caffeinated beverage in the morning, you lose most of the nutrients with the natural flush that you get from caffeine. Sad but true!

Challenge: I weighed myself again this morning and lost another .5 pounds. That still counts right??? I also got my 4 miles in from yesterday for 28.30 total miles this week.

I hope that everyone has a great day. I don't want you all to think that I want/need you to respond to ME personally every time. It just kind of felt like I was on another page all the time. I will take a breath. I will learn to let more go. I will take responsibility for what is my own. Promise. You all really are wonderful people through to your souls.

Have a great weekend everyone. I may be back on Monday, or maybe not. Mike and I may load the snowmobiles and head north for some R and R time. I promise to also get my 14 long lonely miles in this weekend!!!! :faint:

Oh and I revamped my plan for next week:
Su-14 miles
M-XT (gym and bike)
T-Easy run with 4 x10 sec hill sprints
W-8 miles
Th-Bike and gym
F-4 miles
Sa-Easy run or XT

I forgot about the vitamin question too.
Now, its really interesting to know that you should take them at night. I take Garlic Pills and occasionally multi-vitamins (im a bit laxi-daisy taking them!). I take them in a morning and wash them down with either a cup of tea or coffee :headache: No wonder they don't work :rotfl:
I never would have thought to take them at night, now I will.

Im sticking with the same for my challenge, and im going to stop being lazy and do some exercise. Once it starts to get a little warmer here (if it ever does) I will be able to go in the garden. Pulling weeds burns a lot of calories!

Its 4 weeks on Sunday till we leave for Cyprus. Im secretly hoping to be at my target weight for then, but im not going to pressure myself. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't then I can be happy that ive dropped 10lbs and bought a killer dress!
Im off today to buy the killer heels to go with it!

Good Morning Guys!

Agh, I gotta sit down and looking at my tracking crap. I don't think I posted last week. AGH! On that note, low carb just is not working anymore for me. I haven't been doing Atkins low carb, but style. I'm dying for a freaking cracker. My doc told me to cut out alot of starches and sugar for my insulin. I really don't see what harm a cracker here or popcorn there will do.

popcorn::

With that being said, I am in limbo. I know that I can't do this on a daily basis anymore. Not that I have been cheating in a bad sense, but I want some flipping crackers.

I will be back in a bit. Gotta get my daughter off to her field trip. Live from the coffee shop, lol.

Have a good day everybody!!!

(3) dry shampoo.

I like dry shampoo also. In a pinch, when you don't have time for the full on wash. I have to order mine online!

You do realize we need to see said dress. On you. And approve it.

but I want some flipping crackers.

Amen!

E - thinking of you and Riley.

Lisa - happy travels. And take your computer! You have free internet access. I want to hear about the sand and the surf and spending time with mum and da.

Morning All.

I'm a bit bleary eyed - lack of sleep, so please forgive me if I start talking nonsense! :rolleyes1

I'm heading into the home-stretch with these costumes. My goal is to be basically DONE by end of day Sunday. yeah right ;)

I need to reset some more watches...

Speaking of watches, what's the status of you HR monitor??

So--who is going? I need all of the details, and the cutie will, too. I know you are driving. Who all will be in the car? Just you and Jean and then you hook up with your folks down there?

Are you bringing a laptop? Will you be able to log in? I like live trip reports, you know! :rotfl2:

OMG. She's stalking Lyz and channeling her as well.

You know what they say, Lyz - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :lmao:

LisaV - have a SUPERB and safe trip :woohoo:

Night all. I won't be on much tomorrow. At the hospital all morning with Ri-guy (he has his ankle surgery). I'll pop in when we get home.

Good luck to him!

Wipes. Definitely. Dry shampoo. huh. Never even considered that. We have a product like that for the goats. I should look into that.

Something else I never considered. Makes perfect sense though

I'm dying for a freaking cracker.

Sorry :rotfl2: that struck me as rather amusing. But I can relate. I love me some carbs. I don't know how you low/no carb dieters manage. I'd be over the edge!

I'll post my challenge updates a bit later. Going to be hitting the TM now. I'm so tired, I feel hungover. I hope I don't fall off. :scared:

Key to happiness, right there. (jmo) Appreciate the now.

Don't kill the in-laws, I'm against that, but maybe next week you could rough em up a little. :rotfl:

I never would have thought about taking the vitamins at night, that makes perfect sense -- thanks! And congrats on the challenge...I have never been a runner and am always so impressed when I see numbers like 28 miles in a week. Have a great weekend.

My challenge results:
Exercised 5 days this week, snacked within my window 4 days.
Scale -- lost 1.8 lbs this week, for a total of 7.4 lbs for the challenge.

I am thrilled beyond belief with this result, and am feeling very pumped to start the next challenge. Feels like I'm getting within spittin' distance of goal. :woohoo: Thank you very much, everybody, for giving me interesting stuff to read about every day -- even if I don't comment on it all, I definitely read it.

Have a wonderful Friday the 13th (heh heh) and enjoy the weekend!!! :yay:

Speaking of watches, what's the status of you HR monitor??
It came while we were out of town last weekend. I didn't see it on the dining table when we got home. Later DGF sez, oh, look, your package and it was nearly bedtime! I had lost hours and hours of fiddle time!

I've been able to use it this week and it has really helped me to s-l-o-w d-o-w-n. It has the foot pod thingy for speed/distance, but I haven't tried it yet. To keep my HR in the 160s I'm running at 4.7 mph. I'm worrying less about speed. I only have to average 3.75 to stay on the WDW half course.:)

I did c25k week 5 this week. Today was day 3. The week really jumps from d1 (5 min x 3), d2 (8 min x 2). Day 3 is a 20 minute run. I made it. The last five minutes I sped up a bit. I made it. Two months ago running for 20 minutes would have been as absurd as finding a polar bear in my neighborhood. My reading said the body can make huge strides quickly. I am thrilled that mine can do it, too!

Sunday will start week 6 and it will be an outdoor run. I am looking forward to the difference.

We are nearing the end of our two week trial at the Y. I want to join, but chafe at the "initiation" fee ($150). We got an email from them yesterday that the fee is waived on St Patrick's Day - one day only. I'll be there.

The weather is supposed to warm up. I can start riding my bike to work more. With the extra daylight in the evening I may move my runs to the end of the day. Dragging to the office at 6:00 a.m. to run is not making me happy. Everything is rushed and I'm not stretching like a good girl should.

The weekend weather looks mild. Highs in the 50s. We'll do yard work. I've already plugged the hole in the fence the dachshund used to get out last Saturday. His escape sent the housesitter and us into a panic. Nothing good comes from a call at midnight! He's NEVER done that before. Sunday I found what lured him from the yard... an empty cat food can was just beyond the side of the shed. The siren call of cat food doncha know. Now that I've closed it off I will use it as the lure, too.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Ronda

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is having a great day so far. I am feeling very drained this week emotionally so I am a bit wiped out at the moment. I have some ideas as to why and for now I am choosing not to worry about it. I think it is just a funk and I will get through it in a few days. Food wise and exercise wise I am on track so that is a definite plus. I am spending some time with friends and family tomorrow at a couple of different events to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and that always perks me up so that will be good. Yes - I am actually go out to bars and everything. Now I just need to figure out what to wear since you never know who you may meet at these things...

I am thinking of you all and am loving hearing about everyone's successes with their weeks whether it is actual pounds lost, miles put in, new toys to support your fitness goals or emotional strides. Keep posting and know that I am cheering you on even if I am not posting it directly.

Erika - hope Riley's surgery goes well today. Please keep us posted.

LisaV - have a safe trip and have fun. I can relate to the not wanting to bring a computer on vacation. Remember, my family officially banned me from bringing mine to Disney.

Later,
Paula

Oh Nancy, I am so over the edge right now. It's a sad day when a freakin' cracker rules my world, lol. In everybody else's world, I would be right on track. Agh!

Kat, I so understand how frustrated you became with low carb. I've been there, but abstained from indulgence until recently. Now it is so hard to go back.

I proved my doc wrong when she informed me last July that I wouldn't be able to lose weight, so maybe I can prove her wrong again and keep the weight off, along with continuing to lose. It's not that I want to dive into a vat of brownie batter, but I want to live. I want a plan that is liveable. Make sense??

Thanks Amiee... It should be fun. I'll be fine - really.

I so agree with you about finding a solution that is livable. What is the point if you can't enjoy life right? Why should your diet be any different? Everyone needs treats from time to time. Funny how crackers can be considered treats? What is up with that?

Really - I have to get back to work now...

Makes perfect sense. Have to find some kind of reasonable balance. Hope you can prove her wrong again! That always feels great, doesn't it?

I didn't want to hit the TM this morning. Got on, planning to walk for 30 minutes. Well - I ran for 45 minutes. :woohoo: so a success to start my day.

Before I leave this comfy chair at the coffee shop, I just wanted to let all of you know how much I appreciate you being here for me (especially during the past few days). It means so much to me.

:grouphug:

Hi ho, Hi ho, it's off to work I go. :rolleyes1 Hi Ho, Hi Ho.
