I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

Did anyone else notice the interactions between Kate and her "bodyguard"? No way that's just a platonic relationship.

And I hope they don't,...
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a former-nanny "tell-all" book. Employees of celebrities almost always sign binding non-disclosure agreements as part of their employment agreements.

Hi Geoff, yes I know her show started pretty high. What I meant was the J & K show was going way downhill before the divorce, with talk of canceling it. The divorce brought it back up, and it started slipping again. Yes, she did bring it back up when she first started, but I still think that was because people were still interested in the train wreck and there was a lot of advertising. She just wasn't able to keep those ratings up. I didn't expect she would. Add to the fact you never knew it was going to be on, and then it was on late at night and people lost interest..that's why I think it was canceled. It was overdue. While the kids weren't so lucky, K was, because I think the divorce is the only reason the show was continued..that and the ratings that brought in.
I'm agreeing with you, btw LOL (that the lack of viewers declared it done..it went a lot longer I think than anyone anticipated)!

Doris, Kate's solo show debuted at 3.4 millions viewers and it's been downhill from there. Last May her show was down to pulling in well below a million viewers (only just over 600,000 pairs of eyeballs). That's an under-performing reality show for Discovery/TLC and likely ended up making it an endangered species with the execs. Kate clearly didn't want it to end, seeing as it's the financial underpinnings of her family. I think it's the viewers that declared the show "done". If the show were still pulling in a million plus viewers on a regular basis, I think it'd still be on the schedule for this Fall.

I can't believe she gave them that punishment as well! It's the Grand Caynon and they didn't get to see it? Really? I think TLC is editing it to make her look worse than it is. Granted they didn't get to go that time i'm sure they did get to see it at another stop. I'm sure Ashley would have gotten ticked off if she missed it too. If i'm wrong and they didn't actually get to see the GC then shame on her. That is terible parenting!
I wondered about that too. But as fleeting as the trip's other stops were, I'm not sure how many other overlooks at the GC they may had planned to stop at. Also, I'm not sure if that was a one time punishment or "today's" punishment (as Kate put it). Lastly, it wasn't clear when the exact offense took place... One twin got in trouble complaining about the underwear situation, but why was the other one sent off to the RV for doing?

Sorry if I misread that, but to me it sounded like you were saying that it still was a viable low-cost reality show, but the network decided that it was time for some new programing or they were running out of new material.

anyone with 8 kids has to be organized to get all done that needs be let alone support them all herself..:confused3 as sure not getting anyhelp from the Dad per any news source.:sad2: so really hate to judge her to harshly as has to be handful with all them :worship:
Part of me really wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt on this issue (Kate being upset because the help was doing "nothing" and being "disorganized"). However, when someone's a control-freak and won't delegate things to others and instead just goes around handing out, or barking, orders at the others it can be hard to get others on-board with what you're doing. That can then start a "martyr complex" in the control-freak. And after the "help" realizes after a few instances that whatever they do for you isn't going to be good enough, they tend to stop caring.

And lastly, to quote Kate "Everyone leaves...". As I like to quote "If this is your fifth marriage, perhaps it's time to stop and consider the possibility that YOU'RE the problem!"

Yep, if everyone leaves in her life then she needs to look at the common denominator and that person is Kate.

OK so I just finished watching the second part of the RV shows, here's a few thoughts:

Why did Kate on at least two different occasions call the little kids "pre-schoolers" aren't they going in to 1st grade?

What is with her and the "mastermining" concept that she thinks she exemplifies? She may be organized but she doesn't have any of the joy that she should while on vacation with her kids. Also thank God we didn't start a drinking game with her use of "mastermind", I'd be loaded.

She also has not a care in the world about the "people leaving her" when in reality she should care about the fact that those same people leave her kids. The children need some stability and some people that are constants in their lives not the revolving door at their mothers’ whim. Kate should have fought to patch things up with Ashley on the trip.

I was also mistaken about an exchange that occurred where I thought that Steve was in agreement with Kate when in fact the two of them actually had a spat and she said she is so done and this is so over! Well maybe that is why the network pulled the plug. Steve was the only one who could sort of tame the shrew and even he is done with trips and Kate drama etc.

Anyone else bothered by how the nanny, the girlfriend, producers etc. were all bad mouthing and name calling Kate...IN FRONT OF HER CHILDREN. I'm all on the Kate is a total bitc* bandwagon. She is intolerable at times. But, with that said, Kate's children should not be sitting there while ADULTS talk about their mother, calling her names and describing her terrible behavior. Sorry, that's just not acceptable to do in from of her children.

P.S. I agree with everything the nanny, girlfriend and producers said about Kate...but would never say such thing while her children (or any children) were sitting right there. That's just wrong.

No, that wasn't what I meant. It was overdue to be gone. As I've said, the ratings were down and there was talk of canceling (re-read what I originally wrote (maybe I wasn't very clear)..that some here thought the divorce drama was just for ratings), and the ratings did come up after the divorce, and when Kate restarted it. If not for all the drama, I think it would have been gone long ago, before the divorce. I do think they kept it around longer than another network would have because of the low cost of reality shows and because cable network ratings are often lower than traditional networks. I never mentioned it was time for some new programing or they were running out of new material. I just think it outlived it's entertainment, although it did make it longer than many other shows, especially the big family ones.

 I'm not expert on body language, but those two are doing the naughty, for sure.

I agree, no place to talk like that in front of the kids about their mom..although I didn't catch the producers saying bad things (I just heard them asking questions and repeating what was being said)..were they also? Kate did mention that Jamie and Ashley were being paid, and I thought last week something was said about who was doing what and she didn't feel they were doing what they were supposed to on the job. So, if they are being paid, and they knew this was the last show, maybe they just didn't care what they said. Although, wasn't there a post on Kate's twitter (I don't twit, but I do read what others report was said) that they are all friends and made up now?

I didn't think it seemed like the talking bad about Kate was in front of her children until the very big blow outs which really how could they avoid being within an ear-shot of any child in such close quarters. I also think it was one of those situations where Ashley became so frustrated and wanted to do her own "damage control" with the cameras rolling because let's face it, Kate also has a way of twisting things around to the public as well as to her children.

Kate also doesn't deserve the same kind of respect of not being spoken about when she did not extend that same courtesy to Jon, her children's father!! What comes around goes around.

Also she completely denounced her relationship with Ashley and Jaime by saying it was not the kind of "paid help" she was hoping for.

Oh yes, I thought exactly the same thing, Those poor kids. :sad2:

And who was laying on the bed in the back during that vent? More kids? I could see someone was back there but couldn't tell who it was. Maybe someone who taped it can stop it there and check it out.

I will be glad when the kids are out of the picture, and hopefully they will be able to return to "normal". Though I read Kate wants Mady to be a Disney star, so that might not be feasible. But does Mady even have Disney quality talent? Maybe Kate should enroll Mady in the Dance Moms school - could you imagine Kate and Abby Lee going at it ? Wow, now that would be drama

Those poor kids reactions when Ashley was leaving broke my heart. I'm seriously doubting they'd be that upset if their mother was leaving them.

I thought it was one of Jamie's kid (son I think). I believe she brought her son and daughter.

I also wanted to add that the river rafting guide was AWESOME- I loved how he called Kate out on her horrible behavior and didn't bow to her majesty! I will stress again that she is more concerned with organization than having fun with her own children while on vacation! She needs to shift her priorities around a little bit because some of her kids will turn on her over all of this in a few short years.

At the end she was talking about "everybody leaves" It seemed to me that she thought everyone was leaving because of the amount of kids. she has no clue. I wonder if she tells the kids its their fault :confused3. She is a lunatic.

Yes, I noticed and think it is totally wrong, too. That's their MOTHER. All kids love their moms, even those with rotten moms. You should respect that and not bash someone with their child in earshot.

But I agree with them all, too. Kate is impossible.

It's hard to feel bad for someone who spent the better part of her children's lives bashing their father in front of them. Not to mention the countless hours of footage from their show and interviews that the kids can look back on to hear all the negative things she has to say about him.
