I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

Did anyone notice in the episode when Kate is getting ready for trip she looks at camera/producer and says something like when are you going to stop filming the show and do some real work and help me? I thought at that moment this is why they're cancelling the show!!

Lets face it, she was always like this. Anyone been watching long enough to remember gumgate? When she had a total meltdown because someone, I don't even remember now who it was gave the kids gum? In a later moment when Jon forgot to use the coupon? As someone mentioned earlier the WDW ice cream moment. Its just that she has become even more of a diva and feels more entitled.

I don't care for Kate, but I have to say that being a single mom to 8 young children has got to be horribly stressful, no matter how many nannies you have. She has a big job, even if it looks like she's got a lot of help (since she micromanages everything and can't just allow anyone else to give her a break). I am glad the show is ending and her gravytrain is slowing down. Time to humble herself and get back to reality.

I don't think that Kate's shows can or should be compared to the likes of Toddlers and Tiaras, Real Housewives, Jersey Shore etc for the one simple reason that the premise of Kate and Jon being put on TV was because people wanted to see how they managed a household with 2 sets of multiples.
However, American Chopper likewise didn't start out as a show about a "split" between a father and a son their competing design shops. It was primarily about a unique business with some colorful characters. But since then the network (the same one) opted to use the conflict as a means to retain viewers after the show had started to lose its unique appeal. So far it's "worked" enough to keep the show on the air. As I noted, "Kate & Whatever" has been on a steady ratings slide and TLC clearly had the show on its endangered list. The reason for a lack of additional taping which the July RV trip (only about 2 months ago) may also reflect that they didn't want to sink more money in to the show until a firm "go/no-go" for the next season was made.

Sorry but that excuse doesn't cut it for me.

I have seven children (SAHM) and believe me Kate has more "me time" than any mother of young children I've ever known.

She definitely allows people to "give her a break". Remember all the volunteers she had to come in and do the laundry and ironing? Remember when she said she never would have a nanny - well looks like she's all too happy to have a nanny now.

She was always a shrew - she's just an "entitled" shrew now.

I for one hope that she doesn't get ANY tv offers. I'll bet she'll be dying for the "p" people to start following her again.

I cannot stand that woman. I feel sorry for those children. I foresee a lot of therapy in their futures.

I totally agree! And yes, I remember all of those episodes. The person who gave the gum was Jodi, Kate's sister-in-law. Yes, Kate blew up over a stick of gum at the woman who watched her 8 children 1 day per week for free (so Kate could have time for herself), even though she had 4 kids of her own.

The minute Kate lifted up her shirt to show her stretched out belly because she "knew the world would be curious", I knew she was out to get whatever she could financially out of the situation.

Do you have a partner or are you a single mom of seven (did you have multiple multiples?) I don't care if she's an obvious shrew, that doesn't mean she can't be stressed out by life and a houseful of kids. I am very grateful to not be in her shoes :). Her life is no bowl of cherries, whether self imposed or not.

Just saw a E! clip about the 2nd part of the RV trip. The major blow-up was triggered by.... wait... for.... it... Jamie allowed Maddy to hand Steve a piece of pizza with her bare hands. Kate pronounces it "DISGUSTING!" as she launches in to her soon-to-be-another-in-a-long-line-of-ex-friends. The Nanny then reportedly takes up for Jamie and declares that she's "sick of" Kate's "dramatics". Gee, that was really worth torching a friendship over, wasn't it?

Ditch the grapefruit smashing into the face--I'd go for the pizza in the face!!!

No not a single mom. However DH has his own business and works tons of hours. Never had a nanny or any help at all.

I had mine in steps - I had three kids in 34 months twice!

I'm not saying everything is easy but I sure wish I had people coming over to do my laundry, ironing and taking care of the kids at night so I could have had ONE sleep through the night once in awhile.

We all can get stressed out with a houseful of kids. Believe me there are worse things that can happen. When my third child was three we found out he had cancer. He survived, we survived, but you can't get much more stress than that.

Kate doesn't seem to appreciate anything that people do for her, she just always expects that they should be there to do for her.

Yes, but she makes her life much harder than it has to be. How would you explain Michelle Duggar? She has 3 times as many kids as poor Kate Gosselin, yet she manages to still be a very endearing person. And her show has been on just as long as Kate's. Without kids, Kate Gosselin would still be the same awful person, just without kids. Those kids are the only ones I feel any empathy for.

I don't care how many kids she has or who she had them with. Since when does being a single mom give you an excuse to be a raging witch with a b to everyone you interact with? Not to mention she was the exact same person before the divorce..

Becasue the Duggars kids are basically all of different ages. It's different to have kids of different ages then to have 6 of 1 age.

Also, in the Duggar household, the older kids (especially the girls) seem to do more of the housework and caring for the younger ones then michelle actually does.

You can't let two 10(?) year olds take care of six 6 year olds. But you can have like 5 teenagers take care of a lot of younger kids. It's a completely different situation. Michelle basically has an entire staff with the older kids....thats basically all that at least the girls do....watch the younger kids and do housework.

You really can't compare the two. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

My opinion about Kate is split. Yes, I think she has a temper and can be a down right b*tch. But I don't know....I still don't believe she is an entirely horrible person....

And I personally don't find Michelle to be endearing. I actually find the entire family (especially Jim Bob) to actually be kind of creapy. Like they are hiding something when the cameras aren't there...JMO.

You make a good point about the older Duggar kids helping with the little ones. But, for a long time now (since the show became big) Kate has had a staff of help with her kids as well. It's not ever just her alone with her kids, she has nannies, friends, as well as a full camera crew, producers, etc. I don't think she can boo hoo about being a "single parent". Now, maybe after all the TLC money runs dry and she can't afford all this extra help, then she may have something to cry about. I think that the Kate we have seen on camera is probably a tame version of how she is when the cameras are off. :scared1:

Kate is an angry woman, Michelle is not. I've seen quite a few instances of Kate being nasty and mean to people, especially those in her "family", but none of Michelle.

Creepy? only if you live with Wackjob Kate. I'd sleep with one eye open.

Gosselin has been like this since before a camera ever showed up. The Internets has more than one story about her - including letters she sent to the local paper and such, so this is not invented rumour - getting angry about people not giving her enough stuff, the state not paying for round-the-clock help for her once the sextuplets were a certain age, people not giving her stuff the quality she wanted. She's a horror show.

On a tv discussion board, the thread about her show had many a nasty comment about her - she ended up getting it shut down by coming in and trying to start race-based flame wars about her own children (like saying 'don't you think it's gross they put those half-asian kids on tv, blah blah white power'). Bananas.

Duggar is just as bad, imo, just in a different way - she uses her built-in slave army to raise the kids she keeps having (honestly, what DOES she do all day?) and seems either heavily medicated or deranged with the breathy baby voice and creeptastic Bambi-eye grin.

I don't think the younger Duggar children are that good of an actor. I really believe they are well adjusted and happy. They certainly seem secure and loved and I don't think as a young child you can fake that. JMHO.

They don't know anything else and they're little kids.

There's plenty out there about that creepy clan too, just btw. Try googling 'sin in the camp' and Duggar.
