I was just thinking how wonderful it is to know people really care about you. Although I've always had a wonderful, loving family, I grew up with very few really close friends. Throughout school, I mostly just had a handful of what I called "birthday party" friends- those who I invited to my parties but otherwise saw only occassionally. With a few exceptions, people I was friendly with were just aquaintences. I was never especially popular. In middle school, I was constantly made fun of... in high school, invisible.
Last night I was looking back at all the posts from when I was in surgury a few weeks ago....you know what? It's really overwhelming and humbling to have over 50 people wishing you well! I've also had that many birthday greeting here on the DIS in past years. It's just unbelievable. You all make this shy, quiet, sometimes invisible girl (ok, ok- young woman) feel like a celebrity! It makes me think of that famous line "You like me! You really like me!" hehehe
