She is! She's lead and strong and long life; raised 8 children almost alone. Grandma got around though; they have at least 3 different fathers. She's a good Catholic, loves her vodka, and tells a mean joke. I remember when she sold her beauty salon, she gave each of us 32 grandchildren $1,000! She's generous to a fault and cantankerous when disagreed with. I would love for the kids to be able to see her again too. I have been thinking about taking all 4 of the kids sooner but trying to figure out when. My aunt has had a trip planned to Italy since January for next month. When she told grandma, she said, well I can hold on longer, everyone in heaven is just going to have to wait because I'm not %^&$*& ready! [/COLOR]

So sorry to hear about your grannie Jenny, it sounds as though she's a fantastic character who's made sure she's enjoyed her life....it must be genetic

Just a personal opinion but if you realy feel you want to I think you should bundle up the kids and head down to see her if you can...and take a GOOD bottle of vodka, none of the cheap stuff mind!!!

Tonight DH and I are going to see The Police and Elvis Costello. EC is one of DH's most favorite of all time. A friend of mine had tickets but both her and her DH have to work so she gave us the tickets. They are grass seats, no, not where people smoke grass , but on the actually lawn area. No matter, it's a cheap date night. My in-laws will be watching the kidlets and we are going to go to SLC for a some dinner first. They aren't allowing coolers so it looks like we'll be chugging beer in the parking lot a la old school. I am really in the mood to lay out the blanket and partake in a little PDA!

Today we are doing yard work. I cleaned after work last night so it would be done for the weekend. Tomorrow we are making our Sunday pilgrimage to the pool.

Tonight should be great. I do adore me some Sting. The yard work got put on hold for today. DH ran calls on the helicopter all night so he wanted to come home and sleep, which he is, which is rare for him. He didn't sleep one wink last night. I have been lazy other than grocery shopping, , making lunch for the kids, and DISing. They are watching home horrible Leprachan movie. Thankfully it's been edited.

The concert sounds fabby, Elvis Costello is excellent and the Police are enjoyable but I find Sting a bit smug for my taste ...or maybe it's because he's a skinny man with very little body hair (just doesn't float my boat ) I love out door concerts if the weathers good but just don't let the PDA go to far because it's not a great end to the evening if you end up in a police cell .

On the subject of open air concerts ***Embarassing story alert....the charity I work for sends people through to 'T in the Park' (a weekend music festival near Perth...very cool) to try to sign people up as advocacy supporters but one of the girls is moving to another charity and won't be able to blag a free ticket for next year. Anyway the tickets for next year went on sale a couple of days after it finished and they sold out in 1hour ....the girls said she'd missed the boat but that some had been held back to be sold from a ticket office in town and she was planning to camp out to get tickets. This is when Kirsteen chimes in "Oh I remember when I was fifteen I camped out overnight for Simple Minds tickets"....deathly silence (you know tumble weed etc.) then they started to laugh....... I felt SO OLD .

We're going to my mums for dinner today as it was my sis in law and I's birthdays while we were away on holiday. I've just finished making the Key Lime Pie and now I'm going to have a shower and prepare myself for an afternoon of eating and drinking in my parents back garden. At my mum's house there is never a shortage of good food or wine...she's the best

The concert was really fun. I have pictures I took with DH's phone. Elvis Costello was awesome! He has such a unique voice. The police were good but Sting's voice was not up to par. He rarely did any of his Eeee oohhhhhs like he usually does and his noteworthy high notes were few and far between. I am sure that it didn't help that the crowd was a dud! Seriously people in the front row barely standing and no jumping around whatsoever. Why pay that kind of money to sit on your fanny? The grass however was happenin'! Lots of beer and lots of singing.

Before the show we went to a new restaurant in the city called Acme Burger. Basically it's a trendy hamburger joint where the cool folks can enjoy a burger and still be hip. Not too spendy and really good burgers. We had one called the "breath cleanser". It was a burger on a red onion roll with onion, pickle, tomato, some garlic spread, and provolone. It was so yummy! We also shared a classic burger and I added big chunks of smelly feet bleu cheese crumbles.

I feel badly because I am taking the kids to the pool while DH works on the yard. I offered him to join us but because he slept yesterday, after not sleeping the night before, he said he needs to work all day. It's going to be so hot too.

That burger sounds yum scrum I love red onion and smelly cheese. When we were up in Gairloch there was a fantastic Italian restaurant and they did a house special pizza which was caramalised red onion, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, prosciutto and stilton...it was to die for

Yes but my birthday was on 7thJuly while I was away so you're forgiven. We had a fantastic day at mum and dad's. My DBro and his wife and boys came as did sis in laws parents and Big D's parents . The food as always was fantastic, the wine flowed and we all sat out in the garden and had a totally chilled afternoon....perfect

I forgot your 20's were your Years of the Nutter, kinda like the Chinese New Year. I dated, didn't marry, my share of unique fellas too. One, who portrayed himself as wealthy, ended up calling me from jail one night after he got caught embezling moola from the company he worked for.

That house pizza sounds really good. I love sundried tomaters. When we had a garden I would dry maters from the garden and bottle them in garlic and oil.

The boy got rewarded last night. I think he's still recooping. I may have to reward more though. When we got home from the pool today, he had built our fire pit. We are going to make Smores here in a bit.

I think I am going to say something really inappropriate to get out of jury duty.

Jenny, I am so jealous of you right now. I wanted to see the Police a ton, but that did not happen. Glad to hear that Sting didn't bring his A-game--it makes me feel a bit better.

Also, you went to Acme? I've been wanting to go there for a long time now and still haven't made it. Glad to hear someone is doing all of those fun things for me.

Do any of you have Comcast cable? (Probably not the UK folk, I'm guessing.) In their on demand section, there is a group of short movies about Disney travel. DH and I have been watching them all night long--there was a little one about Walt's apartment at WDW--very touching.

Be honest. Tell them you are sorry for their loss...and offer to help in any way needed. Right now...everyone's going to be helping. You should wait a few weeks...and bring them over a dinner or something. Send flowers and a card in a few weeks with your number on it again offering to help in any way. In these situations, I think it's best to just be there. It's the people who avoid who I have remembered the most when I've gone through things. What I always want is to know I'm loved and thought about.
