Ideas for booking 2nd room?

So we booked a cruise onboard for Jan. 2018 and got the OBC and 10% deposit for the room. We're likely going to change the cruise to an Oct. 2018 sailing but I'm thinking of adding a 2nd connecting room. I understand that the 2nd room will not get any of the discounts. Is there a better way of booking this room? Should we book it as a different reservation and go with TA, costco and risk potentially not getting a room next to the room we transfer with the OBC?

A second room will always be a separate reservation. Each room is it's own reservation, regardless if you book them both at once, or at different times.

I'd suggest working with a TA to see if you can book a second room at the time you make the transfer and having the two rooms together.
