Help DD needs to bring in a collection of 100 objects to school. I would love to come up with, or truthfully I would love for someone to help me come up with a creative way to send in 100 somethings...........I suggested stringing 100 frusit loops on a necklace but DD said they already did something like this in school. There are no allergies in the class. Thanks!!!

How about a Lego figure made up of exactly 100 pieces.

100 different marbles.

100 pennies with different dates.

My partner's newphew in KY had to do this for his kindergarten class. He used clip art to create 100 pieces of cheese and then had a picture of a mouse eating the cheese.

May I suggest 100 grains of sand with the title, "Like sand through an hourglass, these are the days of our lives."

Everytime my children have done this, I've always made sure to send in something we either already own....or can eat!! Sometimes the teachers send the things back home and you don't want to end up with 100 of something useless to you. I think last year we sent in 100 gummie bears....with a note that said to please let each child eat 5!! I cannot be trusted around 100 gummie bears:rotfl2:

Because it's close to Valentine's Day, we used 100 red hot candies in the shape of a heart.

OP, if you are going to do something to eat, you might want to get something that is individually wrapped. Our school has put all these new restrictions on things this year because of H1N1 and even though its not in our area anymore, nothing has been lifted.

100 post cards, sent to you from disboard members. :) I could send you one from Mass.

We took a posterboard and made a 100 square grid. Then my son used 100 stickers (let him pick sticker sheets at the dollar store)...1 sticker in each square.

DD glued 100 pieces of macaroni to a poster board in the shape of the number 100.

I like the Legos.

A chain of 100 paper clips is good, too - impressive without being heavy.

Crayons, hair elastics, a book with exactly 100 pages.

Are there 100 Scrabble tiles in a box?

One year DS did small paper cups - we compared them all stacked together to all spread out, different configurations, built with them, etc.

Or you could go fancy and do something in groups, like 25 matchbox cars = 100 wheels.

I've also seen T-shirts with 100 shapes on them (stamped with fabric paint).

How old are the kids? Are they learning to count? Just curious how they could be learning from this project, seems sort of silly, unless of course, they are learning to count.

I enjoy these projects each year with my 2 little day care girls :). Each year we do something different, this year we did '100 stickers' they could pass out afterwards :goodvibes. I agree with Jess, the Dollar Store is wonderful for educational and craft items for things of this nature! :teeth:

DD glued 100 pieces of macaroni to a poster board in the shape of the number 100.

My daughter combined these two ideas. She put 100 stickers on posterboard in the shape of a 100. :)

OP, what does your dd want to do?

When my son did the stickers, he was in preschool. I know that all of my kids did the 100th day of school project in kindergarten. They 'celebrated' the 100th day for a few years but they did not do projects for it after kindergarten.

When my daughter's class did this, I sewed 100 buttons onto a shirt. They had a fashion show for their 100 days.

DD is in 1st grade. They are also bringing in 100 items. We've printed 100 small boxes on a grid. DD will put a Littlest Pet Shop Sticker in each box and cut them up.

They will be using them for 100th day math activities. They are working on math with 10s right now, so it fits.

There is also a 100 Day committee of 5th graders who are collecting 100 items from each grade (i.e., 1st graders should bring a used/new book to donate to the library, 2nd graders bring something for the food bank, etc.).

When my daughters were in kindergarten they were sent home with a contruction paper vest that they had to decorate with 100 things.

For my oldest, we went to Walmart and bought some fake flowers (all different sizes), cut off the stems and hot glued them to the vest. I remember her being so proud of her "girly" vest.

My youngest glued pennies in the shape of flowers on her vest, because "she's not a girly girl."

Some of the best ideas I've seen from my students:

100 gummy bears in the shape of a bear (So colorful!)
100 piece puzzle glued to a piece of posterboard
100 Skittles in the shape of a flower
100 Starburst in the shape of a rainbow

I'm amazed to see the ideas the kids come up with every year!
