On my way to work today an older gentleman had a medical emergency of some sort in his car. He passed out and rear ended the Van next to me and then smashed into the rear passenger side of our Camry. Thankfully the kids were not in the car.

He was not wearing his seatbelt and while airbag slowed him down some, he hit the windshield. :(:( He appeared to be breathing but was nonresponsive. We were afraid to move him because we were worried about neck injuries. The paramedics arrived and got him out and he was airlifted to the local hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

I am fine, as is the van driver. Part of me is thankful that I was there as my car stopped his car from jumping the ditch and going into oncoming traffic.

I immediately thought of FroggyinArk and their admonition that everyone should wear seatbelts. If it bears repeating, now is the time. Make sure you and your loved ones always wear your seatbelts

And everyone please pray for driver that is in the hospital. Cars can be fixed but you can't bring back loved ones that die in accidents like this.

adds my prayers anddittos w hat you said about belts again..lol.. thanks for remembering:) is glad you were unhurt and the accident wasnt any worse.

btw froggy is a jeff too:)

Oh wow. Glad you are ok and I hope that that gentleman pulls through.:(

The seatbelt reminder can't be repeated enough.:(

Glad you and the van driver are ok. Accidents are so scary. Will be keeping the older gentlemen in my thoughts.
The seatbelt mantra cannot be repeated enough. I walked away from an accident without a single bruise. It held me so tight that I didn't even get whiplash from my car being spun and slamming into a curb from the force of the impact. I will NEVER ride without a seatbelt because of that.

Glad to hear that you are okay...Like you said, it might actually be a good thing you were there...
The man will be in my prayers.

Warning to all those driving in Fl. We are now having commercials run on tv about the new no tolerance policy. The ads say click it or ticket. If you are stopped and seat belts are not fastened, you will be issued a ticket.

Good to hear you are okay, Jeff, my best and prayers for the other gentleman. And yes on those belts.

IL now has a law that states Police officers can pull you over solely because you are not buckled up, not in addition to another offense. Where I live in the NW burbs, our town is doing random stops in the next few days to check for seat belt and child safety seat compliance.

Wear those seat belts!

Prayers for the driver who was hurt.

Jeff, I am so glad that you are okay. My best wishes are with the other gentleman.

I'm glad you're OK, Jeff.

Seatbelts are so very important...saved my son and his GF from serious injury last year. Hope the man is OK...sorry you have to go through everything involved with this.

How scary Jeff. Glad you're ok and, that the girls weren't with you. That could've really scared them as well. I know how shook up Kelly was after a man hit the side of our van in the school parking lot. :(

I was NOT a seat belt wearer until IL's click it or ticket but, I wear it all the time now when driving.

I hope the man is able to recover.
