I want to get a pedicure, but...

Awwwww.thank you...I am now gonna start blushing...I better get back to the DB...where I can get beat down a bit! :p

Nah, they won't beat you down. They love you over there too! I have been on these boards a LOOOONG time as a lurker and a short while as a poster. You and AFR are my favorite posters.:D

Yeah, ITA (about Brenda)....I wanna be AFR when I grow up...:teeth:

Btw, you ain't so bad yourself!;)

Thank You! I want to be AFR when I grow up too!! I may know a bit about some things, but I just wish I was as political savvy as she is! I listen to Rush and Neal Boortz everyday but I still can't seem to phrase anything as well as she can!

I got my first pedicure last summer, oh my gosh it was heaven!!
Of course being a first timer, I was very uncomfortable about showing someone my feet. The pedicurist didn't even notice the imperfections that I see. She said my feet looked very well cared for.

For those of you relunctant to have someone touching your feet, just try it once. If you mention to the pedicurist how you feel, I'm sure they will do everything to make you feel at home.

That reminds me, I've got to get a pedicure next weekend. :D

No kidding there...I usually stand back, watch and learn....

It was uncomfortable for me the first time I got a pedicure that I did not get another one for months. But now I get uncomfortable when I don't get my pedicure every two weeks.:)

I have a question paw,

I have been getting my nails done (filled) every other week and a pedicure once a month for I'd say 10 years now. I love my tech, she and I have become great firends over the years and since it's a nail only salon I've gotten to know the other techs as well. I love it there and will never go anywhere else but they are gossipy as you can imagine. It works in my favor most of the time but you definatly don't mention anything in there you don't want half the town to know.

SO here is my delima I've just found out that I'm pregnant (7 weeks) and I'm having my anual pretrip mani and pedi next week. I've heard rumor that I have to tell her that I'm pregnant beause it effects the way that she does her job but I really don't want to if I don't have to.

I would like to get through the first trimester before half the town knows and I know no matter how much I beg to keep it hush it will get out.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO my question is ........does it really make a difference?

I'm getting the pedi no matter what if I have to tell I will.

thanks in advance!!

oh darn forgot to say what I was gonna say to the OP, sorry.........

I got my feet wet (hee hee) with a beauty college first. I figured they would be as nervous and I was and we could help each other through it, plus it's a lot cheaper and back in my college days I needed cheaper.

I would recomend upgrading to a salon after you get used to it though cuz there is something to be said for atmosphere and the BC tends to be loud and kinda steril.

I had my first pedicure last summer (I am 37) and let me tell you it was heaven!!! I was afraid because my feet are ticklish, but it was fabulous. I was home for 1 month and was able to go twice....I can't wait to move back to the US this summer because having a pedicure is tops on my list of things to do!

There isn't any reason you cannot continue to have pedicures and acrylic fills on your nails. And, no, she doesn't need to do anything differently because you are pregnant. But, depending on the ventilation in the salon, you may find the fumes (from the acrylic liquid) make you queasy. If so, take a break and get some fresh air. Pregnant or not, there isn't proper ventilation if the fumes are overpowering in a salon where acrylic nails are done.

So, you really do not have to tell her you are pregnant, but she will eventually notice, LOL! jk;)

I've always wanted one but I am waaay to ticklish to have someone touching me feet.

They don't touch them in a ticklish way. More a massaging way. I also think if tell them your very ticklish they will be more careful.

They are fantastic. I plan to treat myself to one before this July vacation!

I wish I could afford to have a pedicure twice a month. But for now, I'll settle for a few times over the summer - I absolutely LOVE them!

Also, NEVER allow anyone to use a 'cheese grater' type of metal implement to get rid of your callouses.

P&W, I had this done several years ago, and my heels are STILL not the same. They are so sensitive now when they never used to be. Yes, the skin is softer, but to what expense? Seriously, after I had that done it took me several MONTHS until I could walk right again, I had to walk on the sides of my heels. I never went back and said anything to the owner of the shop, mainly because there was such a language barrier but I regret not having done so. I really think those grater things should be outlawed!

They ARE in most states (use by nail techs, you can buy them though). Maybe all states now...I'm not sure. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I have heard the same story more than a few times. In PA and most other states, salon owners will be fined for even having them on the premises. I remember in school they pretty much summed it up as: "Credo blades (the name of the grater) are no different than scalpels, unless you are licensed to do so, you have NO business performing surgery on your clients"

I wouldn't use one on myself, let alone a client. I can't imagine the liability factor. That business owner is lucky you didn't turn their shop into "Snoopy Nails"...

I did tell her, and I still was laughing :rotfl:

I find that people who have ticklish feet need a firmer touch during the massage and a towel between my hands and their toes during clipping, filing and polishing to overcome the ticklishness. I have NEVER had a ticklish client who had a problem beyond the first 2-3 minutes of the pedicure. They usually refer me to anyone they know who has expressed a 'tickle' problem.

Wendy, dear....you're hired. Now get out here and do my feet :teeth: :rotfl:

I am getting a pedicure next week. I love them. It is so relaxing for me. :)

I guess I have the exact opposite of a "foot fetish" because I cannot stand for ANYONE (except myself) to touch my feet. I have no idea why....Maybe I need therapy, God knows it couldn't hoit....::yes::

why give a girl a pedicure if her feet are not ticklish!

Sherry I am the same way but they dont really end up tickling to much. They are great. I always get the spa pedicure so I can soak awhile and have my legs and feet massaged. Its great!
