Hey, I asked a question because I thought it was odd, because I remember watching footage of her bringing her son home (I think), and like I said, she looked radiant. I didn't accuse her of abandoning her kids. I don't follow her or Cruise's career closely (I think the one and only film of his I saw in the theater was "Rain Man" and that was because of Dustin Hoffman, whom I love. As for Nicole, I don't think I've seen any movie of hers in the theater -at least I don't remember. I've seen them both on TV), much less their personal lives. and I didn't even know the kids names.

Some have said that she didn't mention them because they are adults. Others say that it is because it could hurt them. OK. I had no idea that Tom had not allowed them to have a relationship. I didn't know, so I asked.

And when I say that most thank all their children, I meant that most say "thank you to my children" in general.

No offense meant---it could well be the comments were off base becuase you genuinely thought her son was also a young child still living at home---thus the discussion that ensued. You certainly came across as curious rather than critical, unlike other posters later on.

I wouldn't have known what kids she had of what ages had it not been covered here before I got to the thread. But, given that the son is grown and not living with her, it totally makes sense that he was not mentioned in the contrext of the speech.

I saw an interview with NY Post, gossip columnist, Liz Smith. It was a couple years after the divorce. Being a gossip columnist, she really got around and actually knew most of the celebs as that's where she got her gossip from.

She was asked about Nicole's divorce and she shook her head and said, "I don't think Nicole knows what it was all about. I doubt she will ever figure it out."

I assumed she meant about Tom being gay and that he needed a beard (and two adopted kids) to prove to the world he was straight. And that was all she was for him, the beard.

Cruise also dumped her right before they hit the magical 10 year pre nup mark, so he wouldn't have to pay out big bucks to her.

The 10 year mark is not part of their prenup, it's an actual law in California. When a couple is married for 10 years, the divorce payment automatically goes up big time. That was also why she was so blindsided. Not thinking they would ever get divorced, she didn't know about the law or the crucial deadline.

How ironic or coincidental, this Tues nite's episode of "Leah Remini:Scientology & the Aftermath," is all about Tom Cruise and celebrities joining Scientology or being recruited by other celebrities, all to further Scientology. There was a 10 minute preview of it released tonight on A&E, so I got to see that.

Well, the kind of person who would divorce someone just before the 10 year mark, likely also believes the other person is just waiting for the 10 year mark to pass so they could divorce them.

A "I'm going to do it to you, before you can do it to me" mentality.

You're thinking like a normal person and what a normal person would do.

You are missing that crucial 10 year deadline. It is about how much money Nicole would get instead if he divorced her after the 10 year mark. Say, before the 10 year mark - and he filed for divorce like about 3 months before the deadline, she only gets $5 million if they divorce, according to their prenup. (I'm just making up a number.) After the 10 year mark, by law, the rate jumps up to 30%(?) of his income, and she walks away with $25 million. Big difference!

For that $20 million he saves, and being Tom Cruise, he can marry anyone else who loves him just as much. In fact, he did. He found Katie Holmes. And she even gave him another child, [seemingly] a bio child, whether by turkey baster or fertility clinic, to add to the illusion he's straight and virile.

And according to TMZ, he did pay out much less than $20 million.

After she mentioned her two daughters, she immediately followed it up with how they've had to make sacrifices with her not being available as much due to her role, so perhaps she said that about two daughters since her other children are grown and not living with her anyway.
