to a long happy life! I went to visit my grandmother in Springfield Saturday. She is almost 96 yrs old! I was so happy to see her big smile and she was thrilled to see my kids. As we sat and visited, she laughed and talked about all the wonderful things she has experienced during her long life! She was born in 1907. Before airplanes, before cars, before all the world wars. She talked about riding in horse drawn carriages, and working hard on the farm. She told stories about the depression, their first tv set, getting indoor plumbing and electricity in their house! She had a hard, hard life, but as she remembers these things, the love she had for her family (she has outlived 3 of her children already) and her great attitude about life really shone through. I really feel that the key to her longevity has just got to be the wonderful attitude she has about everything. She fully believes that nothing is too bad, or too hard to handle, and that God will never give you more than you can bear. She has the gift to let small things slide off her shoulders, and not to bear grudges against others. Laughter, smiling, forgiveness and love must be the answers...what do you think?

Your grandmother sounds exactly like DHs 93 yr old grandmother! I think you're right, a person's attitude, and hopefully some healthy genes, can lead to having a long life. Just like your grandmother, DH's grandmother is always smiling and happy to see people :)

DH's grandmother helps deliver Meals on Wheels to people 20 years her junior. She doesn't drive anymore, but she's out there helping deliver the meals. She's very active, and her mind is sharp as a tack :)

Snow White, next time you see her give her a hug from me. I still miss my Grandmother so much. You are so lucky to still have yours. She sounds a lot like mine:)

Oh you are so lucky! I haven't had any grandparents since I was 8 years old. I woulda loved to interview them and learn about my heritage. Write those stories down while you still have her!

Thanks for sharing your Grandma with us, Snow White. She sounds truly amazing! What a life and, a Happy one at that!

Your Grandmother is a very wise woman. Sounds wonderful and wonderful advice. :D

She sounds like a delightful and wise lady....:D Cherish her always....:D

Thanks! Thankfully she wrote a story about her life, that is really something to cherish! Especially for an avid scrapbooker like me!!:D :D

I agree with you Grandmother. My dad is 85 and I hear the same things from him and it makes me realize what being happy and embracing life is all about. :D

I think that must be it! My grandmother is 91 years old and has always had a pretty good outlook on life too! She still is able to live by herself and do a lot for herself. I always say that I hope I am that good at 75 as she is at 91! Thank you so much for sharing that bit of your grandmother with us :)
