to a long happy life! I went to visit my grandmother in Springfield Saturday. She is almost 96 yrs old! I was so happy to see her big smile and she was thrilled to see my kids. As we sat and visited, she laughed and talked about all the wonderful things she has experienced during her long life! She was born in 1907. Before airplanes, before cars, before all the world wars. She talked about riding in horse drawn carriages, and working hard on the farm. She told stories about the depression, their first tv set, getting indoor plumbing and electricity in their house! She had a hard, hard life, but as she remembers these things, the love she had for her family (she has outlived 3 of her children already) and her great attitude about life really shone through. I really feel that the key to her longevity has just got to be the wonderful attitude she has about everything. She fully believes that nothing is too bad, or too hard to handle, and that God will never give you more than you can bear. She has the gift to let small things slide off her shoulders, and not to bear grudges against others. Laughter, smiling, forgiveness and love must be the answers...what do you think?
