Ok, I have only been on these boards for approx 5 weeks and I cannot believe the person that I have changed in too....

Just so you know we are staying off site (Too late to turn back now) 3/22. We got a very good deal and I am happy with it... HOWEVER, with that being said the more I learn about Disney resorts that more I have convinced myself that we are already going back in either Sept or next Feb to stay ON SITE... In addition to convincing myself that we are going back I have gone from wanting to stay in a moderate resort (Port Orleans) to staying at AKL Standard view. Now my issue is I MUST stay in sav/view concierge...

What's wrong with me?? The more I learn, the more I must have the BEST....

Now just tonight I got into a conversation with a co-worker about Disney and where to stay .I knew so much more than him that I didn't want to embarass him and put down his ideas.... Where as just a month ago I would have known less than him...

I guess this is good and bad... Good because I feel that I am getting the most for my money... Bad because I feel like know too much and therefore it making me want MORE....

I'm a Disney snob and I haven't even gone yet....

Don't feel bad. We are total Disney snobs, too. We did the Honeymoon Grand Plan at BW in 1997 and we were hooked.
Now it's just assumed that we'll be going YC Grand Plan...and not only that, we want the exact room that we're requesting. And we better get our Concierge Access Cards, or there'll be trouble.
The good thing about Disney...money talks.
We only do a real WDW vacation every other year, so I don't feel that bad about spending the $$.

Heck,,, What's the Gran plan... Oh wait DON'T TELL ME... because I'll want that too... :)

We get snobbier with every trip!! We started out staying at Port Orleans, then moved up to the Boardwalk, then on to WL concierge, and our next move is a 1 bedroom villa at the Boardwalk!! We take at least 3 trips every year, and our 4 year old DS knows his way around the parks. Disney has become our family obsession and we have turned many friends and family members on to Disney with our enthusiasm. Can't wait until our 3 month old DS catches the fever!

The Grand Plan is now called (I think) the Platinum Plan. It pretty much includes everything except alcohol and souveniers. You even get your own "itinerary planner." The planner contacts you and then schedules ALL your meals and recreation for you. It's the BEST.

hi: it's okay to be that kind of snob! if you keep it up, i'll be seeing your posts over on the dvc board as well.

You aren't a snob... you have just caught Disney Fever... watch out, it is very contagious, and there is no cure!

Hope you have a great time (we are also staying offsite at the same time you are going), and will return soon to stay onsite. Believe me, onsite is definitely the WAY TO GO!!!

Hey Love2trav,

If you really want to be a snob, take the Disney Vacation Club tour while your there. Best thing that I ever did. Can't wait till tomorrow afternoon.:smooth:

Funny you mention the DVC.. I have already looked into it and DH is totally against it... RIGHT NOW... However I bet once we get down there I will be able to convince him to tour... If we decide to buy DVC it probably wouldn't be for another year or so...because I DEFINATELY want to try AKL and WL first... Boardwalk villas look like my kinda of place.

Beware Luv2Trav!!!!

Once you stay onsite you'll never want to go back :p We've been twice in 3 years and started off at the Poly and then went to WL and as much as I LOVED WL, to me it wasn't as "deluxe" as the Poly. There I said it - i'm turning into a resort snob!!! :(

This year we're going to YC - and I too want to stay concierge but haven't quite talked myself into it. I mean it may be the last trip to WDW we take in a couple years so we should make it really count, right? right?

I'll second the thought on BEWARE!!! If you try the concierge...you'll be hooked!!!

We stayed at the Beach Club concierge and really enjoyed it. The kids liked being able to go down the hall for breakfast. I liked the special events our planner had for us.

The best one was having vip seating for a couple of the MK parades. Wow!! No waiting and trying to save a spot. No stress while keeping the parade interlopers from pushing in. This really made my day!!

Our first stay was at one of the value resorts. We are now owners at DVC with the Beach Club Villas as our home resort and can't stay in anything smaller than a 2 bedroom Villa for our family of 4. It is so nice to have the kids in their own bedroom.

Is VIP seating at the MK parades (other parades?) a perk of staying on a concierge floor?
oooh - what a treat.

what other extras, besides the food?

I wouldn't say your a snob - just a Disneyholic like the rest of us. :) Welcome to our world!!! ;)

I'm wondering about that "VIP seating" at the parades, too. I've stayed concierge twice, and I've never even heard of it.

Definitely, though, once you go concierge, it's hard to go back.

It happened to us, too. We are now Disney snobs. Well, I am. DH just goes along.

If you stay at AKL Concierge, you will be hooked to staying on-site and in concierge every time you're at WDW.

I think it's okay to be a Disney snob. We work hard during the year. Our son works hard in school. We all deserve to splurge a little when we go to WDW or Vero Beach.

Enjoy your stay in March. Are you going to visit any of the on-site resorts for dinner or something while you are there?

The silver, gold, platinum plans are nice and can be economical if you take full advantage of what they offer. You can get info on Disney's website about these.

We are just one of those families who wouldn't use the multi day tickets, all the meals, recreation, etc.-at least not on our next trip so we booked everything ourselves.

I booked a one bedroom suite at AKL for our next stay-if my DH finds out how much we are paying, you'll never hear from me again :D :D

Yeah it happens to the best of us!!! We've been members of DVC since it started. It's great to have two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a whirlpool tub!! And yes, I agree that once you stay concierge it's hard to go back. We need our concierge fix too!! I guess that makes us Disney snobs too!! Oh well, I can't think of a better group to associate with!!! LOL!!!

Have Fun!!!

Hello....Disney snob here! I agree, once you stay at concierge level there is no going back. FYI Special viewing is offered on the Plans. We have the "Silver" which includes a special viewing for parades and fireworks. you need to PS for it, which Concierge planning does for you. We are going to Illuminations viewing area, which you go to Morocco and there is a special seating area where you have an unobstructed view! We are going in May and are very happy with the GF RPC and Silver Package combo. You can go do the Disney website and check out the different offerings. With the Concierge you do not need more than the Silver package (I was told by WDW TC) as it would be a waste because of the concierge offerings.

Before going to WDW i went to Disneyland many times but would only pay up to $39 for my motel room!!!!!! In 1995 I payed $69 to stay in a small suite at a motel and I though that was allot!
In 1996 I went to WDW for the first time and planned to stay at the cheap Sun Motel. I started reading about the Disney resorts and was stunned by how exciting and wonderful the sounded but couldn't see paying that much. Even the All Stars was expensive to me but the allure pulled me strong and I caved in and payed the hurtfull amount of $129 to have a water view room at CBR. I skipped right over the All Stars because I thought (mistakenly) they were to juvenile. May of 1996 was the time that wrecked my accomodations spending habits. I went back to Disneyland and booked the Disneyland Hotel. In 1997 I stayed at the WL and the Yach Club and by 1998 I was in the Grand Floridian. BEWARE. It strikes fast and is uncontrollable...for a while. I am now comfortable staying off site at Disneyland again and halving my stayes between moderate and Deluxe resorts at WDW.
