ROFR Thread April to June 2025 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

West Coast to Hawaii is a 3 hour time difference…. but it’s MUCH worse flying to FL and having it be 3 hours the other way!
We live in the UK (Scotland) and took our little ones (both under 3) abroad from birth with up to 8 hour time differences.

The way we see it, we can be tired parents in Disney/Aulani, or we can be tired parents somewhere less fun, but either way if you take young kids on vacation, you're gonna be tired!

🚨 For the first time EVER, Disney has bought back an Aulani contract through ROFR!
At just $78 per point—well below May’s $94 avg—this unexpected move has us wondering if a shift in DVC strategy is on the horizon.

For what it’s worth this person claims to have been ROFR’d on Aulani in 2013.

It was a source of curiosity and still the stuff of legend when I joined the boards 6 years ago.
I just wanted to vent about my Aulani shopping experience. I found that buying Aulani was so frustrating. I got ROFR'ed on a 75 pt contract that was subsidized and now I feel like I overpaid on a 170 point contract that I paid $90, paid all dues and has no subsidies. It did have 135 banked points.

Anyway Aulani doesn't have many contracts for sale and most of the contracts for sale have an existing loan on it where the buyer needs the full asking price just to break somewhat even.

Thanks for reading!

But I don't really see them telling someone "oh well" and forcing them to forfeit their points.
I absolutely do. 100%.

If they allow people to bank late, even infrequently, it will become widely known thanks to the Interwebz in about six minutes, and everyone everywhere will believe they are entitled to do the same. That essentially eliminates the banking deadline.

I’ve noticed very little interest in old key west extended resales. Why is that? It’s one of my favorites I own due to the point chart.
For me it would be the maint fees, id rather buy a different resort if im going to pay higher maint fees, especially since okw is widely avail for booking

It doesn't fit the way I travel. If I lived close and had a car, OKW and SSR would make more sense. In addition to not having a car, I like quick and easy access to a restaurant and lounge/good coffee.

I have a feeling that DVD might end up being a little more flexible with banking in situations like this when there are no options.

There are times when every resort owner can have that happen.

While you have a higher chance of finding something with other choices, there are also times when nothing is available for your dates.

Now, what they could do is have a program set up that owners can pay a fee to have access to DVCs own points for that one time situation.

Sandi, are you suggesting that when we have expiring points with no availability we would pay a couple dollars per point to get access to available hotel inventory? If so, I LOVE that idea, which seems like a win win for Disney and DVC members— assuming we’re talking about like $2-3 per point and not $10-15 per point. 😛

Yes, I could see DVC doing it but not sure the price would be that cheap!! I c

The language of RIv mention that they could create some of fee based program.

I could even see them doing it for those with all resale to trade into new on a per reservation basis!!

Sounds more like pay a fee to trade those points to DVC and then get OTUP in return
See I think the system I proposed is better than that because it would help Disney put bodies in hotel rooms that are otherwise empty at the few month out mark. Whereas OTUP can be used out in the future for other purposes (including renting a room, which would compete with Disney leaving them with additional rooms to fill).
