I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Not sure an Admirals Club pass will work with JAL. We recently tried to use our JAL boarding pass to enter the Admirals club with an Admirals pass at SFO, and it didn't work. They wanted an AA specific boarding pass (which thankfully we did have, so we did get in), but they would not accept the JAL boarding pass. So your mileage on that may vary...
I'm also looking at the Citi Strata and if I'm understanding correctly, admission to the Admirals Club is just four one-time passes. I'm not sure I would count on being able to use these--I happened to be flying AA this past weekend and noticed that the AA lounges (I passed two) had signs out that they were not accepting one-time passes. Of course Thanksgiving week is an exceptionally busy time, so maybe the one-time passes are generally okay.

What cards are you considering?

I think Citi is more inquiry sensitive. But they seem to have relaxed it a bit for the Strata Elite. I was approved with 3/6 when usually the advice is 0/6 or 1/6. They don't like very recent inquiries.

The Alaska biz seems very hard to get approved for because they might count biz cards by pulling D&B.
Thanks. I am looking at the Strata. Do you think 100,000 points is a good offer?

At the risk of sounding stupid, what is FR?
I do know that The Work Number doesn't have info on all employers (I used them at work all the time).
Financial Review. People claim they are going through one FR with AMEX, getting through it, then getting another one soon after and then having all of their accounts shut down. They all claim they aren't doing MS, etc., but it's anonymous so hard to tell what's real out there.

Yes, 4 one time passes, and no priority is given to the passes. So if the club is full, tough. We had good success using ours in CLT (the AA Provisions grab and go, because the club was full), then in JFK at the AA club later that same day, then again 2 weeks later in SFO at the AA club. This was beginning of November. I felt lucky, though, that the clubs we went to were barely half full. I think some clubs are more notorious than others for basically always having the "No one time passes" sign out.
Keep in mind the 4 passes are per calendar year, also. So we got a card in October, used the 4 passes for this year already, and then we'll get 4 more deposited 1/1.

Reading through the thread, seems like the Ink train is dead for SSN/sole prop (after 12/1). Very sad.

my p2 has a pre-approved ink in the app, but sadly we are in the middle of spend right now. I hope to heck it's still there in a couple of months

Hubby was showing as pre-approved for the CIP with the elevated bonus but then got the pop up when we actually applied today. Cancelled the app but now I'm not sure what our next play is.

So, genuinely, where are folks who have almost exclusively been riding the Ink train going next? Hubby and I have been alternating UR generating cards for a couple of years now, so we're out on Inks and Sapphires. Capital One? Citi? AmEx? We don't want to get locked into a specific hotel chain or airline, so definitely looking at a card that has cash back, multiple transfer partners, or a good travel portal for redemption options. (Really just want Chase to welcome us back in a warm embrace! What's the next closest thing?)

I asked about my missing points from 10/2, they asked me for the persons name, phone number, zip code and the last4 digits of the card that was approved…
I sent that back and they responded they are forwarding it to the appropriate department and I should hear back in 5 business days…so that would be next week
Following up on my previous post about the missing 20,000 Chase UR support points ….had a SM in my Chase account this morning apologizing for the missing points and adding them to my account.

I just opened a USB Leverage card, 75K points with $7,500 spend and no fee first year. This is the 2nd time for me with this card, and works well while taking a break from other issuers.

Southwest question. If I book a flight with travel funds that expire in June, then cancel that flight, do the funds still expire in June or will it be a new expiration based on when I booked that flight? Just curious because I'm booking a flight now for March because I don't want to risk the flight being full, but I hope to have the companion pass early in January so will cancel DH flight and add companion. Just wondering what the new expiration date will be? I would book the rate that gives 12 months if I get a new exp date, but not worth it if the funds will still expire in June.

They would still expire in June

It would revert back to the June expiration.

Unless you also use a gift card amount as part of the payment. Then, the entire amount will revert to available funds without an expiration date.

Check out the SW thread pinned to the top of the Transportation section. Great info there about the new policies.

Also note that you'll need to upgrade the fare to Choice Preferred when adding the gift card payment. That's what makes it completely refundable. The gift card part of the equation makes the refund non-expiring.

I think its MS , but some people think its bots posting too in other circles.

I got back from Paris & London yesterday. Like last year, I arrived home sick ugh.

London was amazing, but the shopping crowds were intense. For the first time in London I had an attempted pick pocket. Sadly they did get around 80 GBP, but I managed to salvage the 2 my ccs in my wallet and 30 pounds. Not sure how it happened, I was at the intersection of Oxford & Bond on Sunday, crowds were insane and I heard my platinum card hit the ground. Of course I immediately grabbed the card and a lady next to me got my CSR and the cash. Luckily I had my wallet 'tied' into my bag (attached a safety pin to the lining of the bag, then attached a hair tie to the pin, then I secure the wallet to the hair tie -- were it not for my wallet being attached to my bag I most likely would've lost everything). What makes me angry with myself is that I bought a small s-clip on Amazon that I use to 'lock' my purse (zipper pull to a ring on the strap of the bag), but for some reason I didn't lock my bag. Lesson learned. I feel stupid for this happening to me because I know better, but am sharing because it's important to always be vigilant.

Anyways, as previously posted, dd and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Churchill for 5 nights. I booked the base room on points (175k total) and a generous member gifted us a GoH, which gave us an upgrade to a Regency Suite! We had breakfast every day in the restaurant, where we could graze from the buffet and order off the menu (I did both each day since I'm not a fan of buffet food). The cooked breakfasts were excellent and the smoothie they had at the buffet each day was delicious! I only made it to the lounge once at 5pm and partook in the food -- there were chicken strips (yummy!), cheeses, crackers and flat breads, lettuce & dressing, rolls and a few other items that I cannot recall. I was in the lounge before 5pm -- as soon as the staff brought out the alcohol a line appeared. I went for the food so was able to enjoy before everyone descended on the food! The food was good, not enough for dinner, but definitely nice appetizers.

Location is excellent. Five mins walk to Marble Arch tube station, 12-15 mins to Bond Street (for the Lizzie line, which goes directly to Heathrow). I went to Harrods once (had to get my annual tree ornament) and took the bus each direction -- was max 20 mins and very easy. Dd and I ended up taking a taxi to her interview because it was raining and we had a good 12 min walk from the tube station to the school (didn't want to show up soaking wet). I also took a taxi to St. Pancras station to catch the Eurostar to Paris (I didn't want to deal with the stairs again). Most places I wanted to visit were within a 20 min walk. Would def stay here again if it was available on points.

Room was super quiet, loved having a walk-in closet and the extra space to move around is always appreciated. Bed was very comfortable, pillows were perfect. No welcome amenity in room -- called down and that night a tin of shortbread was left out (brought home -- will put out for Christmas!). Almost all of the concierges were Cles d'Or and had access to reservations at every restaurant that I asked for (including 1 that I couldn't get at Mayfair Chippy). I had read on FT that the rooms are getting dated and I would somewhat agree with that, but I liked the vibe. One thing they need to change is the toilets -- ours was so low to the ground it reminded me of the kindy toilets at elementary school lol (I am tall with arthritic knees, so I very much appreciate ADA facilities lol). Very minor issue in the grand scheme of things. Amenities were Molton Brown and we had large dispensers in the room, but housekeeping left small bottles each night as well! I would stay again without hesitation. For the time we were in London a room at any other decent hotel would've run us at least $800 + taxes / night, so I was thrilled with the value. In the Regency Suite the beverages in the fridge were free (one free fill) -- included juices and soda. We only drank the water, but if someone drinks soda and juices, it's a very nice perk.

Dd felt that her interview went very well and we both really liked the Uni of London. She won't know if she gets a seat until mid-January to mid-February, but we both had very good vibes, so fingers crossed. The girls in her group of 5 for the sessions were all really nice and she exchanged socials with them. I met a few nice parents and we spent the afternoon together while the girls were rotating through the various stages in the process (it was all afternoon). I am very glad that we went to London and toured the school -- it really helped her appreciate all it has to offer. Would appreciate as many positive vibes as possible because I think it's 1 of her top choices!

large and very comfy bed

Selfridges has a collab with Disney for their Christmas displays this year, including the windows, and if anyone is in London I HIGHLY recommend stopping by to view them -- they are spectacular.
