Home again! Got in around 4pm. Left the resort at 7am. I slept a little later than I had intended.

The drive was fairly uneventful, other than a couple of minor construction slowdowns.

Gassed up twice - once for 2 gallons, once for 8 gallons on this return trip. Twice because as I approached a slowdown, there was an exit with gas for 2.39 so I pumped 2 gallons and took a backroad around the slowdown. I already knew that gas about 30 miles further was $1.84 at Shell, so I'll be da*#*#@ if I'm going to pay that much more at Exxon for my full tank. Yes, I know I'm kind of ridiculous to get all annoyed about $4, but - if I were filling my van it would have been $10-$11 difference. I almost think the people at the exit count on the slowdown to send them suckers for expensive gas.

Daughter is off this week due to spring break at the school she works at but returns on Monday - no students as she's administrative. We will see how that goes. Other daughter same deal. Younger DD can do her job remotely of allowed.

Son can work remotely also if allowed. So far he has to go in. He works at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. First time I took one of my kids there it was just called Bethesda Naval. The Comfort is being sent to New York to help in that crisis. Wonder where they'll find all those corpsmen needed to staff it?

Happy to be home but also happy to have taken my little trip. You are never guaranteed the next one. Spent lots of time with the grands and that is precious to me.

Now I'm getting emails from the plumbing company I use about not flushing ANYTHING but toilet paper including tissues.
This is actually something I knew would happen. DH has built a lot of sewer treatment plants and "flushable" wipes, papertowels, etc are terrible. With the toilet paper issue I've wondered how bad it would get for the plant operators. If too many people flush stuff that they shouldn't it will cause another whole host of issues for communities.

Unfortunately I have first hand experience with someone using flushable wipes that clogged a toilet sending toilet water into our office. Our building is very old and they snag on the pipes.

PA governor ordered all "non-life sustaining businesses" to close tonight. Not exactly sure what this means, we are supposed to have a couple of dead trees taken out tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

Well the stupid gardeners in my neighborhood seem to think that they provide some sort of essential service with their mow & blow and a bunch have been working this week even after the shelter in place thing started. They already park in the red zones, etc. because they all seem to think they are also emergency service vehicles, so I don't know why I would have thought they wouldn't come now.

Also, one home had 2 big plumber vans outside. Bad timing for a plumbing disaster. I hope it wasn't caused by the shortage in TP.

It was sunny out and I took a walk and ran into my neighbors, so we conversed with a 2 lane street in between us. #socialdistancing

And, my 2 days of points total of 60 were returned. Most are able to be banked into 2020 but some are not because they had been banked into 2019 from 2018.

I will not be asking for an exception for these former 2018 banked in points. It's almost certain I won't use them. I may try to transfer them to someone as they are good until October 1, 2020.

Yes, and they don't dissolve either. They have to be screened out.

I work at a marina and more than half of our customers are from Canada. The border was closed yesterday to non essential traffic. Hoping things get better so we can still operate this summer.

Maybe you can capture some of those Quebec'ers that were all on the road back north today. I saw more high end RV's then I've ever seen. All the nice ones and most from Quebec with 1 Tiffin from New York. It's like someone told them to head for the Border - I don't know, maybe some campgrounds in Florida closed down, because there were many more than I've seen on other trips. There were other snowbirds also, but the Quebec contingent was exceptionally large. There's a little game in my head where I read tags while driving.

Hope it gets much better quickly for you!

I double dipped in December 2018, both CSP and CSR. I downgraded my CSP to a Freedom Unlimited in December 2019. Apparently it was after a year, but I forgot to wait for the AF to post. But I upgraded that card to a CSR in November of 2019, so was less than a year from downgrade.
Okay that’s good to know thank you. We’re going back and forth about doing the MDD. Right now we’re thinking we’ll do it and use plastiq for bills. I’m thinking of applying Sunday or Monday

I saw a post on Facebook from a town in Iowa that was begging people not to flush anything but toilet paper because they were clogging up already

My award flight with United is in June and international. I'm thinking those flights might be cancelled outright rather than changed and consolidated. My conundrum is do I pay the smaller redeposit fee before April 10 or take a chance they will cancel. Then if they don't cancel, I'm stuck with $250 redeposit fee.
The alternative they are offering me is basically an award voucher. I'll have one year to use my 12.5k UA miles. (This annoys me so I'm pushing back)

Apparently the legal authority to make these issues is a bit sketchy so some companies might continue to operate and you might see your trees disappear after all.

The Canadians can return home, but maybe they are worried if that could change so they are heading back early. Also, it might have to do with their health insurance. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My mom was telling me a story about my nephew going to Tampa on college spring break (he left before everything collapsed so I can't blame him for traveling) and they rented a house. He bought tp but his buddies didn't. They ran out and couldn't replenish so they used paper towels. My mom didn't seem to get why that was a bad idea (like renting a house to eight college guys).

I say the same thing about the super Walmart now. I’m scarred and afraid to go back there!!

Success! Although there was a line to get into Aldi when they opened. (I got there 15 minutes early and there was already 10 people waiting. By the time they opened, there was 50.) However, I found that Aldi was well stocked, and put limits on most of the items which I was happy about. So I was able to get 2 packs of fresh chicken, a bag of frozen chicken, and frozen ground turkey. There were no paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins) to be had. Cashiers said they had no idea when they’d be getting more in. The cashiers looked noticeably stressed. I can’t imagine working in grocery stores right now 😭
I’m glad you were able to get some!! Bummer about the paper products. I do feel bad for anyone who is working at a grocery store during this. My SIL works for Walmart and has been doing online grocery pick up.
I saw on an Aldi-centric IG post that Aldi was temporarily raising all their temp and hourly employees wages by $2/hr. All the supermarket/drugstore workers definitely deserve a raise now. And, yes, Infollow Aldi pages on Instagram :teeth:

They closed all Florida State Park Campgrounds this week and they are all full of snowbirds at this time. We met some very nice Canadians that had just started their trip last weekend. Hope they make it back safely.

Just received a call from American Airlines informing me that British Airways has cancelled our March 29 flight from SFO to Glasgow. Best possible scenario for me. Rep confirmed AA miles would be redeposited into my account within a couple of hours and taxes and fees would be refunded to my cc in a couple of days. No attempt to charge a redeposit fee for the miles. Whole call took about 2 minutes. I also received an email today that I am receiving a full refund for the train fare I had purchased for a round trip between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The refund request had indicated a 10GBP fee might apply, but I received a full refund. Last piece is to get BA to respond to my Twitter DMs regarding their cancellation of our return flight to Glasgow on April 2. Same scenario on this one: trying to get a redeposit of Avios and taxes/fees refunded. The BA website is not equipped to do this, and when I tried to call yesterday, I got the "we are too busy so you can't even wait on hold" message. Definitely not impressed with BA customer service compared to United and AA so far, at least with the plans I've needed to cancel.
