Currently fighting with United to get a refund on an award flight in May they cancelled. I had a domestic direct flight and they cancelled it and rebooked me on a one-stop getting in an hour and a half later. I think they're going to stick to their guns as what I've seen on FT shows they are total disaster for people right now and I really don't want to call in so DOT complaint it will be if UA Twitter team doesn't waive the re-deposit fee... Stay tuned! (I threw this at them from DOT saying they cancelled my flight and I don't accept the rebooking and I want a refund.)

I need help from anyone who’s upgraded a CF to a CSR. Dh downgrades his CSR to a CF last year (around August). We might want to upgrade back to the CSR sometime soon. Does anyone know if he has to wait a year since he downgraded or can he go ahead and do that whenever?

Definitely keep me posted. I have a flight with them that I'm putting off dealing with so I appreciate the ammunition.

DH got that email yesterday also. United cancelled his non-stop redeye (booked through Chase portal w/ URs) and wants him to change in Newark. They moved the departure up an hour and the arrival home is almost 2 hours later. He clicked the box on the Chase email that says 'I don't accept - call me' so we'll see if they do. I would rather book him on a SW flight the next morning if he can get his URs back from the united flight, especially since we are not sure the trip in May will even happen.

I say the same thing about the super Walmart now. I’m scarred and afraid to go back there!!

Success! Although there was a line to get into Aldi when they opened. (I got there 15 minutes early and there was already 10 people waiting. By the time they opened, there was 50.) However, I found that Aldi was well stocked, and put limits on most of the items which I was happy about. So I was able to get 2 packs of fresh chicken, a bag of frozen chicken, and frozen ground turkey. There were no paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins) to be had. Cashiers said they had no idea when they’d be getting more in. The cashiers looked noticeably stressed. I can’t imagine working in grocery stores right now 😭
The owner of my gym sent out a note that he would loan out equipment during this shut down, first come first served. So I went over and grabbed a rowing machine and a few weights and things so I can do workouts at home. I decided to chance Aldi on my way home - they actually had TP and paper towels, so I got a package for us and one for my parents. Pretty psyched. I haven't been actively looking, because we aren't that close to out yet, but decided that having a little more wouldn't hurt.

I've got United award flights in mid-April that I haven't dealt with yet. From the language on the website, I should be able to change them and not have to pay a change fee, but when I tried to do that, it was trying to charge me $100 per ticket as a "redposit fee" because the new flights were slightly fewer points. The "cancel" button wasn't working at all, or I would have just cancelled and then rebooked. I didn't have the energy to call, but am interested in how it goes for you @gottalovepluto .

I've seen people have to call and then sometimes they're getting the re-deposit fee waived. I really don't feel like hassling with that right now so I'm inclined to annoy them with DOT but now that I see response time can be 1-2 months I'm back tracking and may just call. If they think I'm waiting until 72 hours LOL.

I double dipped in December 2018, both CSP and CSR. I downgraded my CSP to a Freedom Unlimited in December 2019. Apparently it was after a year, but I forgot to wait for the AF to post. But I upgraded that card to a CSR in November of 2019, so was less than a year from downgrade.

I have a new-ish Capital One Venture card. Will travel eraser work for Undercover Tourist hotel reservations?

I've never used UT for hotel reservations, but I bought Universal tickets through them and it coded as travel for the travel eraser. My understanding is that anything bought through UT will code as travel as long as they're the ones running the CC.

I just saw a news alert that gas hit $0.99 at a station in Kentucky. Between not driving anywhere and dirt cheap gas, fuel points are not very valuable!

I filled up at a little over half a tank earlier for $1.96. I had 80 cents in fuel points to use but it wasn't worth wasting it for how much I'm putting in.

Plus I have this tiny Nissan Sentra rental car now with only like a 12 gallon tank lol

Are you trying it on a computer or on your phone? I don’t know if it matters, but when I changed my award flights from last weekend to November it allowed me to do without the redeposit fee (the new flight was 2000 pts cheaper). I was on the full website on my laptop. Maybe I got lucky on the laptop, but when I tried on my phone it kept asking for a credit card for the redeposit fee.

I posted about this a couple of days ago but I did call in to United when Lufthansa changed a flight we had booked using United miles so that we would have arrived in Frankfurt from Glasgow four hours *after* our next flight was still scheduled to depart Frankfurt for Denver. I was on hold for 1 hour 40 minutes but it wasn't that bad because I just had the call on hold on speaker on my cell while I was working and just carried it around with me if I needed to get up. It might have been luck of the draw on reps or because the change to our flight was so egregious, but the rep I got was super accommodating about redepositing the miles without a fee. The miles were returned instantly and the taxes and fees were refunded to my credit card in a few days.

I may go that route in a few days as I know I won't want this hanging over my head. I have another flight in Europe in May that I think will get nixed and maybe I can take care of both with one call.

But now they can use some of their precious dollars to respond my DOT complaint in a couple months lol

My award flight with United is in June and international. I'm thinking those flights might be cancelled outright rather than changed and consolidated. My conundrum is do I pay the smaller redeposit fee before April 10 or take a chance they will cancel. Then if they don't cancel, I'm stuck with $250 redeposit fee.

One theory is that migraines are a result of dehydrated cells. Cheeseburger and fries (along with added salt) apparently contain a good combo of vitamins, minerals, etc to rehydrate cells. All I know is that it does work for me and has worked for the past year+ since I learned

This explains why I often crave McD's fries when I'd get migraines or just a weird headache. It also proves my theory that both salty foods and burgers and fries are better race recovery than those stupid bananas and bagels they pass out.

So far I have canceled our hotel for our April DL trip but can't make myself pull the trigger on canceling our SW flights.

And now I hear Australia has closed their borders. This is the trip I will be heartbroken if it needs to be canceled. Please, please, please let things be better by 7/30.

I feel the same about our August trip. :(

My sister went to Stop and Shop this morning at 6:30...they opened at 6 for 60+. She said it was a mess with lines to the back of the store, worse than going in the middle of the day.
She walked in and walked out.

It's crazy. I'm trying to get everything for my DM, but I can't do the senior shopping hour. Still I don't want her going out and exposing herself (we have community spread here). And now it's actually harder for me to get stuff. I still think it's good they are doing this.

So for two weeks I've been looking for a can of Lysol (no where to be found) and yesterday I saw one through the window of a parked car. I joked to DH to go get a crow bar...I'm breaking in. ;)

I always have a little thing on hand sanitizer that I leave in my car, and have for years. I realized last week that I had to hide it because suddenly it's something worth breaking into my car for. :sad2:

Thanks for the DP - I was on my computer, so not sure what the difference was between what you did and what I was trying to do! Will try again and see if it works.
