The redirects on this board are getting to impossible levels. If I turn off java on the phone (iPhone), it stops them but then it’s a multi-step effort to like a post, i can’t multi-quote, and a bunch of other websites don’t work correctly. I hope the tech department of the Dis is working on all these tech issues.

I just spent a week in NC on the beaches. I don't think my kids would like Asheville. Boston is CRAZY expensive (almost as much as LA). I'd love to do Boston seeing as my 5 boyfriends are from there, lol. I think I just need to figure out a local vaca.

I can't really do straws any more but still do with my tumblers for water. I had to stop chewing gum too. I was swallowing too much air and it collects in my throat in my chest. Went to the dr because I was getting short of breath but it was just built up gas. Yay for aging I'm guessing? So now I keep gas relief chewables around and will need one tonight but without the gum it's way less often of an issue and now that I know what it is I treat when it starts.

That’s not necessarily aging. Straws make everyone swallow more air, gives you more stomach gas too.

I have metal, glass and reusable polycarbonate straws. Metal are my fav for retaining the temp of the drink and you can boil to clean. Glass can be boiled but doesn't retain heat/coolness of drink. Poly ones cannot be boiled but are usually the cutest. I even bought Disney ones with mickey heads all over them years ago at wdw.

Aren’t the metal ones hard on your mouth? There are reports of people cutting the roof of their mouth where the straw poked them. I can’t imagine if a child tripped while drinking out of one.
We clean our straws with a baby bottle brush. I don’t sterilize my dishes, uneven had a reason to sterilize straws.

I agree. I’m glad Disney stopped using plastic straws. I don’t mind the paper. At other restaurants I will also just drink without a straw. Even my germaphobe SO does that so it’s not that bad lol

Haven’t been to WDW since they started this but on DCL I had no issues with the straws. I had one in my cocktail for probably an hour during dinner and it never got mushy or fell apart.

We're supposed to have pretty high humidity coming up from Barry. It's 77 this morning and it feels hot...I'm inland about 10 miles. We're going down to the city tonight . I might bring a long sleeve tshirt for our boat trip.
If it was me, I'd bring one of your cardigans for the a/c at the seminar. Dual purpose that if you feel cool outside at night.

I'm probably going to get a timeout from the spam filter for this cause it'll be my 2nd post this hour but I really don't enjoy the angry reaction. I get that people are angry at the subject and not what I actually said but when you have multiple of them in your alerts it's disheartening until you realize what it's from. Actually makes me happy facebook hasn't put on a thumbs down. I also generally don't see people use angry reaction on there when it's a friend posting but do on news, companies etc.

I can only do iced coffee with a straw. I have cups that have lids where you can either sip from them or open a hole for a straw. I mainly used them for water. A guy at my work drinks his hot black coffee thru the plastic straw...

My weird germophobe OCD co worker drinks her coffee thru a straw stuck in the lid of her foam take out cup from the cafeteria at work. The paper cup doesn’t keep her coffee hot enough, but she must use a straw so her teeth don’t discolor.

That went viral but in metal straws defense the lady was disabled and I think that played more into her stabbing herself in her fall than anything else. If the straw is pointed upward and a person/child falls, the drink is not likely to stay straight up, it's going to fall with the person rendering everyone safe. That particular version of the story left out what I think was the most important part "...Mandy said in a statement read aloud to the inquest, adding that her wife was prone to collapsing "like a sack of potatoes" at random intervals due to underlying health conditions..." No but as a child my sister tripped while drinking soda from a glass bottle and chipped her tooth. So I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility to happen to someone without a pre existing condition

MDE question that I’m hoping some of you can help me with:

I currently have all three separate reservations on my MDE for in laws, my mom, and DH and I. I will be the one booking all ADRs and 60 day FPs. However, I know that my mom and BIL would like to have the app on their phone to look up wait times and order food, and they will also branch out to some different parks some days and may want to make some FPs. Can they have their own MDE account with their reservation number plugged in and it not mess up me making FPs for them for the days I know we’ll be together? I just don’t want them to create their own account and suddenly I can’t book FPs for all 6 of us at once.

My husband and big kids have their own acct. They all show up in mine and I handle everything.

My parents have had hotter weather lately in Iowa than us here in Florida. Next week we are supposed to be at 90 and they are getting all the way up to 98

Yes I use silicone and metal straws at home. I'm not hauling around straws that need to be cleaned on vacation though. I draw the line there.

Right there with you. I have enough to pack and deal with and I'd worry I couldn't get it clean enough.

I have a 15yr old learning to drive too. She's pretty good but I still feel like i'm going to have a stroke after 20mins. I let DH drive with her most of the time.

When DD was learning to drive DH said he really, really wanted to be the one to drive with her and I was so relieved. Best thing ever!

We're almost half way through our 12 day trip to Washington. I'm making great progress on my CIP MSR.

Mt Rainier was amazing. We had two great days of weather and one very cloudy day. Finally on the last day we got to see the very top of Mt Rainier. Now in Port Angeles, focused on Sol Duc and Lake Cresent today. Had beautiful weather today. Hopefully it will hold up. Tomorrow is whale watching.

Oh in churning news, DH's citi AA biz statement closed and I see the 40k bonus miles. That was his 2nd card and used the dummy booking 2k spend for 40k miles + 250 statement credit. I'll buy a gift card next. I was waiting to see if his bonus miles posted.

I am still mad at Amex with the whole MR point claw back so I used my CSR tonight at an expensive birthday dinner at Buca di Beppo. Of course now it just dawned on me that I had the spend $50 save $10 offer on my Gold. Aack!!!

And I met my spend on the Delta Gold Biz on Wednesday. No points yet. Which is way too soon to worry but I can’t help it. Already starting to obsessively check. I feel like Amex these days is just a huge source of stress!
