Thank you everyone for the positive vibes. My car seems to be okay. We aren’t going to get a good look at it for a couple of days at least. It just started snowing about an hour ago and it’s already snowed a ton. DH met me at school and followed me home. The highway was TERRIBLE! Worst road I’ve ever driven on in my life. I went 25-30 on the way home and still felt myself sliding. I was so scared I was gonna crash again.

I’m laying on a heating pad right now. My neck and back really started hurting and right now my lower back feels really sore. I told Dh I’m not driving for 4 weeks lol. I’m almost positive we will be talking seriously about moving south come September.

ETA: I forgot to mention I did stay pretty calm in the ditch eating my lunchable

yeah, i still think its shady as well, but it good that he responded to it. Reddit is currently saying the sites probably was just trying too hard and made it now look in a negative way, i still think its shady as hell too, should of just posted like a dog picture instead or something... lol.

either way, my other group has actually met some of them and vouch for them... lots of success stories... but at the end, still weird to me.

That kind of makes sense. As a web developer, I was going to say the person that built the site probably put those photos in place while waiting for the real photos. That's what we do. Intention being to replace when the actual photos are ready.

Agree it's weird, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt based on my own (partial) DP, and I'm glad to see the feedback above. I decided I wanted to engage someone to help me book my Japan air for 2020, because I definitely want biz or first (4 seats), and I will be in Africa when ANA releases award space for our outbound flights. I started a chat with Juicy to find out how their booking service works and felt like I was getting good, responsive info from James, who is the booker who ended up responding to my chat and answering all of my questions. Based on that, I've partially engaged with James (partially, because we won't actually be booking my flights until June of this year). But I've emailed with him (multiple times over the course of several days, and he has been very responsive) and have spoken with him on the phone (and I have his cell number), and all of our interactions have been very positive. The info he's given me is consistent with and lines up with what I already knew about timing of award space releases by the various players, that realistically we would have to split cabins on JAL and do two in biz, two in first, etc. He's provided potential routing info via screen shots (for dummy dates right now, of course). He definitely feels legit to me. And he has made it clear he does not want access to my Amex or Chase accounts and that he would much prefer me to transfer the points to the partners before he steps in and handles the booking on the airline site (or by phone). I could be wrong, but this does not in any way feel like a scam to me.

Lol love that you were eating a lunchable!! Tip from a friend of mine who’s a massage therapist- put a damp towel between you and the heating pad. She described it as preventing your muscles from turning to “jerky” from the heat :)

Glad to hear you are ok. Hopefully the muscle soreness goes away in the next day or two if not after a week def see a MD as it could be something.

Also wanted to post to say that I was pleasantly surprised today that I found it super easy to use my Bonvoy 35k free night cert to book a weekend stay in Seattle for the Cal/Washington game this Sept. There were quite a few Bonvoy hotel options that are still category 5 (I honestly didn't research whether they might be changing with the recent announcement of category shuffles). I thought for sure I would have to call in to attach the cert to my reservation, but it gave me the option to use it online when making the reservation. I used the cert for one night and points for the other night. And I was able to book at a Residence Inn with a queen/queen/sofa bed room. Right now, it is just DS and me going (I booked our air using my Alaska companion fare for him), but if DH and DD decide to come, we can just cram into that room since it has the sofa bed. This still doesn't change how I feel about Bonvoy. No regrets about recently cancelling my Marriott Biz, and I plan to cancel my SPG biz when that AF hits, but nice to have had a positive booking experience.

:offtopic::offtopic:Other travel help needed. In May we're going to Colorado Springs. Using my 7 night cert from Marriott and at first I picked the Springhill Suites. It got good ratings but I google earthed (not sure that is correct way to say it) and it is right by the CS airport. Is it too close? I didn't see anything in the reviews about noise. I do want free breakfast and I picked the suites as a little more room was nice. Thinking of moving closer to Garden of the Gods if possible (Residence Inn). Anyone with personal experience to help me pick one way or the other?

I think it would be a lot nicer being closer to Garden of the Gods. There's not much of interest out by the airport (I learned the hard way).

PEOPLE!
I (ok, DH) just got INSTANT APPROVAL for a CIU. What the what? pixiedust: A Chase Biz instant approval was a unicorn in my household.

I was in sort of a slump because I have been sick with the flu since Thursday and it's disgusting weather (@afan you know what I am talking about!) and then this sort of perked me up. Big thanks to @SouthFayetteFan for opening my eyes to this possibility.

We stayed at I want to say the Stafford Apartments (it might be Rendezvous Hotel now) but we checked in for our honeymoon and my gentleman said wait until you see your view. And we were like ok. Got to our room and we had a totally unobstructed view of the Opera House. It was just amazing. I got some fantastic pictures with the sun rising and setting over it. We can't wait to go back.

Nice! We had a great view of the Opera House from a pretty high floor when we were in Sydney. I remember trying to get good night shots with it all lit up. I was in college and tagging along with my parents. A few days in Sydney were part of a business trip so we got to stay at a really, really nice hotel for that portion of the trip. ;) Much harder now since I have to actually PAY for stuff LOL. But we'd walk down to the Rocks for dinner most evenings and I really liked it there, and that's where the Hyatt is.

Well, just filled out the application for SPG Personal and immediately got the pop up that I was not eligible for the SPG Personal card welcome bonus. Only cards I've had are SPG Biz and Marriott Biz, so I should be fine. I don't know what I've done to anger the Amex gods with my two whole cards, but whatever it is, they're ticked at me.

Well... just BOO! :(

Hyatt moving some up to Cat 5 and some down to Cat 4, most notable to me is the Centric SF Wharf and Seattle Grand Hyatt moving up to 5. Centric is where I stayed last Sept and it was a great location and redemption, the property here because that was my backup for a staycation to use my free night cert. A couple in Chicago moving down to 4 and the Centric Waikiki moving down to 4 as well. Could be good options now.

Per MMS because it's slightly better than TPG and DoC hasn't posted yet.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll go check out all the links posted.

Well I went in the ditch for the first time in my history of driving. I was on my way in between schools for subbing and there was a patch of snow on the highway. I started swerving one way so I pulled back and turned completely around into the ditch. My car almost tipped on its side but luckily landed flat. My neck, back, and wrist hurt a little but I’m very lucky to be as safe as I am. Dh came to get me and dropped me off at the school so I could still sub. AAA is supposed to drop my car off here if they can get to it in time. We are supposed to get 3-5 more inches of snow and have 20-30 mph winds tomorrow. I’m so over this stupid winter

Oh no! I am so glad you are ok. How scary. Glad you had your lunchable with you. I have found that taking a hot hot shower or a bath really helps with those aches and pains, too.

Yes, I've been obsessive about putting spend on all my Amex cards.

I don't like it.

And if Amex is gonna do me like this, we're not gonna be friends much longer.

Yeah it's getting to be a pain. We bought more furniture this weekend and when it was time to pay DH and I weren't sure what to do. I have the Hyatt MSR I'm still working on (so it ended up on that one eventually) but I'm worried AMEX will get upset if I don't use my cards. Our spending is way down from 2018, too, which is a really good thing for us, but now I'm thinking that even if we put 100% of our spend on an AMEX card I'm not sure we'd still be friends. :(

I agree with @platamama. The CS airport area is not really where I'd want to stay. The west side of I-25 is where the touristy things tend to be and I'd much rather stay close to Garden of the Gods (which means you are pretty close to lots of other things as well).

I got off the heating pad awhile ago but I’ll have to remember that for next time.

I would love to take a bath but I’m so tired. I’m barely staying awake right now

Still waiting for the switch to rain... though it'd be better if it stayed as snow safety wise.

wait. what? MMS hired TESLA GUY!?!?!? That is completely unacceptable. The dude should be hiding in a cave somewhere. MMS will never get a click from me. Adding them to my business boycott list.

I think he was writing for them prior to but no one cared because he wasn't an something hat but @Lain would know for sure.

Was just coming to post that link. DoC was later because he was more thorough and included the above link -

  • 259 hotels are changing category
  • 130 properties are increasing in price
  • 129 properties are decreasing in price
well dang, that coconut point resort was on my radar. Maybe I could book it now for easter weekend...

Both maui resorts are going up too.

Annnndddd both Charleston properties that I was eyeing as a portion of my 2 month summer residence.

Yeah, Tesla Guy has been writing for MMS for years. I think he’s one of their editors. No one cared until he started exposing Plastiq as his go-to trick to earn tons of UR for every big expense.
