My only other viable use for MRs is to get a Schwab and AMEX doesn’t like me right now. This is the right call as much as it hurts.
Oh MRs...I misread that. Thought you were cashing out URs. I was thinking today about MRs and using them for not such a great redemption due to the amex drama. They have a bonus to transfer to Hilton right now. Or I could take a statement credit towards a Disney resort. (terrible value I know)

@Haley R - What a scare! Glad you are safe.

@ lost count how many are sick and with sick littles - but wish everyone a speedy recovery!

My AKV contract just passed ROFR!!!! I'm excited and nervous. Guess I need to start collecting more discounted GC's to pay dues! Can't believe I'm an owner!

:welcome: Home! AKV was our second DVC home resort and is my favorite resort out of all of the Disney resorts! As much as I love the lobby at Jambo, I am partial to Kidani. The Pembe Savanna at Kidani is where the Okapi reside. I absolutely adore Okapi, they are my favorite animal. Enjoy coming home to AKV!

Went to look at Dishwashers tonight...found one that we like - all in total = $784...now I just need to convince myself to part with 80,000 MR pts to get $800 in Home Depot gift cards...It's the right call but it's always hard to part with points (especially when I'm trying to catch @calypso726 :P :P)

LOL-I went to high school in Chesapeake and then was in internship/residency in Portsmouth.

There for a second I was confused and thought you were talking about Portsmouth, Ohio.

And then I thought we were from REALLY close parts of the world.

I agree with @platamama. The CS airport area is not really where I'd want to stay. The west side of I-25 is where the touristy things tend to be and I'd much rather stay close to Garden of the Gods (which means you are pretty close to lots of other things as well).

Thanks, looking to move my reservation closer to that area.

I know right where that is. You will be able to walk over one block to King street and then head south to all kinds of shopping and dining. Or just head south on Meeting street and you will come upon the old city market....great for browsing. When you get to the end of market street, take a right on east bay and more shops/restaurants as you approach waterfront park. From waterfront park, just follow the water down Rainbow Row to the Battery and white point gardens.

Really close to your restaurant is Jestine's kitchen...amazing fried chicken. I also really like 82 Queen, magnolia's, FIG, home team bbq (they catered our wedding).... yuummmmm, I want to go home!
Thanks for the details. I am already drooling over those restaurants. I am hoping that mid March weather is a lot nicer than Ohio!

I upgraded my old couponing trapper keeper with baseball card holders into a churning binder. I have a section for all the main banks and a baseball card sleeve holder for myself and DH in each section. It works really well especially cause we both have the same cards with lots of the banks..factor in "employee" cards for each other and we can have basically a zillion nearly identical cards.

The first time my BFF saw the binder with its pages full of cards in little slots you should have seen her face :earseek:
I have the current cards in this wallet

Old cancelled cards in a rubber band in the drawer lol

LOL-I went to high school in Chesapeake and then was in internship/residency in Portsmouth. I had a Jeep Cherokee 4 WD since I knew it snowed once a year and EVERYTHING would shut down. My bf at the time (from Ohio) totally mocked me...until we got the annual snow and everything was a mess and we used my Jeep and 4 WD. I felt quite vindicated!:rotfl: To be fair, I wouldn't drive now in ice/snow unless there was an emergency-it's been 20+ years and I'd be a menace.

Ha, my DH is from Va Beach. I hate it down there :rotfl2: We were long distance for six years and I never figured out when the right time was to leave so I didn't hit d@mn tunnel traffic. Either the base is getting out or starting a new shift or it's regular rush hour or somebody just doesn't understand how to drive into a tunnel without braking!! And lorddddd, don't let it snow. I swear my mother in law about sends herself into a panic attack over an inch of snow like it's not going to be 75 degrees in Virginia two days later and melt everything.

LOL! I grew up driving in tunnels but everyone who did not will slam on their brakes at the bottom and slooooowly creep up out of the exit. So frustrating! It was much worse back in the day (when I was in high school) and there were toll booths. So it can always be worse!

"this one EASY trick to lose weight!"
You mean there’s not?!

We were in Charleston maybe 15 years ago. Ate at 82 Queen, Magnolias, Fleet Landing, Poogan’s. Jestine’s I can’t recall if we had fried chicken but I think we had fried green tomatoes, okra and banana pudding. All delicious. I can’t remember having any bad food in Charleston.

Congrats! I bought at AK too. We are neighbors! Hopefully @AmyAnne passes so she can be our neighbor too.

@Haley R I'm sorry about your car. Driving on snow/ice is just about my top phobia (save for FALLING on said ice) and I just don't do it anymore. I make DH drop me at work if the weather is bad. I go in way early and stay late. It started snowing here yesterday and there were cars in ditches all over the place.

I broke down and went to minute clinic this afternoon. Another double ear infection. I got two kinds of medicine and this should help my laryngitis too - the gunk is stuck on my vocal chords apparently. This has been such a crappy winter. Everyone I know has been sick for weeks it seems like and I keep getting this ear thing over and over.

37 days until spring!!!! :flower1:
First, I hope you feel better, double ear infection is no fun.
I'm glad to see so much love for AKV. At first I thought I wanted an Epcot resort, but the Boardwalk pool would probably scare DD (really me), and BCV has a short deed. I really started liking the idea of AKV and it's such a good price. Good luck @AmyAnne !

Thank you!! I've read more people like Jambo but I'm glad you love Kidani because I'm leaning toward Kidani for my first trip home. I love the look of the pool and kiddie area. I've actually only been to Jambo. I'm definitely staying Savanna view, I made sure to get enough points for that and can't wait! I'll be sure to ask for Pembe Savanna, thanks!

Heading there this weekend for youngest DD's birthday. Looking forward to eating lots of good food!

I love the Charleston talk. I've always wanted to go there...

Thanks for the Hyatt info. The one I'm looking at in Chicago (to visit my BFF) went up :( but the one I'm looking at in NM (to see MIL) went down :) . So I guess I'm kind of even steven on this one.

we didn't use any pools but we liked Kidani over Jambo the staff just seemed friendlier and it didn't seem as crowded even though both resorts were sold out when we went.

We greatly prefer Kidani over Jambo because of the extra bathrooms in the 1- and 2-bedrooms. They really make a difference when traveling with a family of young adults!

We prefer being on lower floors, closer to the animals. The Jambo rooms feel too high up for animal watching.

I did my student teaching in Chesapeake (20-odd years ago). I liked it down there (Hampton Roads area in general) other than the fact that it’s a bazillion square miles of suburbia, and it took forever to get anywhere. The worst traffic was in the summers surrounding the tunnels on the weekends during the day with tourists coming and going. It was a nightmare if you had to be out then. Is it any better now? I’m guessing no. Lol :crazy2:

Since I didn’t chime in on the convo a few days ago about the Williamsburg/Va Beach area, guess I will now. I had an annual pass to Colonial Williamsburg and loved going there. I’d go on Sunday afternoons and it was just perfect about late October to early November. April was also wonderful. If I wanted to go to the beach I’d head to Sandbridge. Otherwise, I’d just as soon head to the Outer Banks. Being a poor college student though, I couldn’t really afford that.

Asking because I forgot - is it the CIP I should use on gyft? Never bought anything from them before, but they sent DH a $10 off coupon.

I love this wallet, I'm so glad I got one. I broke down last week and got a 40 card one of Amazon, for sock drawers cards and such.

Next I want to go thru my Samasung Pay wallet and add all the AMEXs with a cheat sheet as to which is which, for offers and random spend
