I'm so sorry for the vent and thanks to those who take time to listen.

In 2009, I was laid off permanently from my wonderful $20/hr job. With the economy starting to get really bad, I was unable to find a job that paid anything at all.

Eventually I took a job at Kroger as a pharmacy tech, and then I job hopped one more time to my recent job. Neither job paid alot and I currently have NO benefits. No holidays, sick time, insurance...:scared1: Luckily my dh has picked up the slack and is now carrying insurance on the family AND working an extra job.

I am trying to find a better job, but it is so scary with the Craigslist scary things that happen to people.

I interviewed yesterday and got called back for a 2nd one today with a district manager. Now tomorrow I have another interview with a different company. I'm excited and scared to death at the same time.

Anyway, I just needed some company while I wait. I knew I could turn to my DisBuddies when I need support.

Thanks for listening. :littleangel:

Good luck in your job search and interviews. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Perhaps I'm just not following your train of thought (or your job application/interviewing process), but I don't understand what this:

I am trying to find a better job, but it is so scary with the Craigslist scary things that happen to people.

has to do with you finding a better job? :confused3

(oddly enough the accused teen & man in the recent CL killings are from the town I grew up in -- right next door to my current town)

Many thanks!!!

The Craigslist thing, I'm pretty sure there were two incidents where people had applied for jobs and "disappeared". EEK!!

Aww, don't be too worried over it!

First, they were job ads placed on Craigslist, not on Monster or Careerbuilder or anything like that. Second, if you read the details about this most recent one, there was a whole bunch of warning signs that something was "amiss".

Common sense dictates that you wouldn't abandon your car and let two perfect strangers drive you to a secluded area where this ranch or farm is supposed to be.

I hope you find that wonderful job! My DD is currently searching as well.
She has applied at a local library, but no calls back. Here is hoping for a new year with a new job.

Good luck. Drop a line here and let us know how it went.

:thumbsup2

Best of luck with your interviews. I will be re-entering the job market in anothter year and am already scared of how hard it will be to find a job.

Best wishes for your interviews. One big mistake is that people don't think companies hire around the holiday season. I started on Dec 23, 2003. My wife also landed a job Christmas week.

There really is nothing to worry about on Craigslist. If the respondent said to meet for a job interview in a park or room 333 at the Holiday Inn, then a red flag might be raised. Millions use Craigslist daily with no problems.

I have used Craigslist for hiring in the Lexington, KY area exclusively over the past 2 years, always meeting at a convenient restaurant (Panera Bread, Bob Evans, etc) since I have a home office. My wife found her current job at a major hospital in Lexington the same way, she's making over 50K a year now.

I also grew up in the Canton/Akron Ohio area, where the Craigslist killings occurred. I don't even think twice about advertising that way or hiring from the site. As always, if something doesn't seem legitimate, it's probably not.

The interview and the first 2 weeks of a job are the hardest. Keep thinking about how happy and relaxed you will feel after a month! Remember your good qualities and be thankful/grateful for what you have instead of mourning what you don't have. This will be over soon and you will feel differently in the future. Good luck!

Pixie Dust :wizard: indeed.

Its so tough - its like "walking on water" keeping the faith!

To kydisneyfans - wow! I had no idea (legit jobs on craigslist) - guess I'm really old! Thank you for taking the time to post! I get to agree with you about the hiring before Christmas! DH just got a job! and started Monday! Its been so long since we've had a job with benefits!

:wizard:

Good luck! Hope u get one of those jobs - what a great way ti start 2012! I'm glad u are able to get insurance thru your husband and that he is working a p/t job as well....hopefully he will be able to quit when u get a job!
