I'm definetly going to the doctor ASAP.

At Noon today

I cant see how you saw a DR and a Psychologist today, got labs back from one and posted all about it by noon today.:confused3

Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life. I normally nap 2 hours at the most

It was 10:00 am ..

So I wake up and automatically reach for my cell phone to look at the time and my heart fell out of my chest . When I tell you I freaked out..I mean I really FREAKED out. It was 7:15 P.M . .

Maybe it was the Carbon Monoxide?

by ........ at 4/7/2011 8:33:39 PM

My carbon monoxide detector was going off like crazy so i called the fire department. Its not the first time my detector has gone off and usually it will do the usual beeping sound a smoke alarm would make ...but this time was diffrent it was way louder than usual and a contuinous non stop beep and the red light flashing so i got the creeps...What if i took the batteries out go to sleep and never wake up ? I just didnt want to take that chance especially having kids so I tried to find the non emergency phone number for the local fd and there is literally no number on the internet for the fire department. So I called 311 who told me it was a 911 call and transferred me. I did NOT want any dramatics with a huge truck ...I told them exactly what was going on so i figured they'd send someone in a car with a co detector . NOPE......That fire truck came barreling down the street full lights and siren blaring Within seconds of seeing the truck and of course the nosy neighbors peeking ...4 fully dressed firemen with extinguishers are banging on my door like my apartment is burning down ***...So i tell them and than i feel bad because its a false alarm...co is detected but its not a very high level . They tell me to open all my windows and thats pretty much it

Not that I'm giving credence to this story, but depending on what they ran (probably just a CBC) it could be back in matter of hours if they have an in house lab.

Yeah, but a CBC is only for a white blood count and some other minor blood deficiencies like anemia, b12, etc. I have neutropenia so have CBCs a ton. I usually get those results back in 15 minutes at my oncologist.

But to do a full blood panel to determine what might be wrong, usually takes a minimum of 24 hours.

Exactly. Yes, you can things like CBC very quickly, but the OP would have had liver function tests, kidney function tests, autoimmune panels (which take at least a week), thyroid, etc.

Not to mention testing for sleep apnea or other sleep disturbances.

The OP said that "everything came back fine" and that this proved that was depression - that would take a lot more than a CBC.

Be careful when you start taking the Lexapro. You'll be falling asleep in the afternoon for sure for a few weeks.

.... I was prescribed lexapro and abilify. I have not taken the medication though because I dont want anything screwing up my mind making me feel loopy ...

Unless you've been on lexapro before (or at least prescribed since you've stated you won't take the meds and lied to the doctor about being on it and it not completely working) they're not going to prescribe both Lexapro and Abilify for the first go-round.

From Abilify's websitethey state that it's an ADD-ON to anti-depressant treatment when the antidepressant you've been on for 6 weeks or more is not quite enough, and you need a boost.

Does anyone else find this to be one of the weirdest things said about this whole story. I've never heard this, has anyone else?

Yes it is weird.
It's also weird that in a country that is experiencing a huge shortage of mental health professionals that she got an appointment so quickly with a psychologist (even if she is established).
Even weirder is that she was given lexapro and abilify because abilify is an "add-on" drug.
Not to mention that psychologists cannot prescribe medications.
Not to mention that most PCP's would be concerned about starting you on one - much less TWO - mental health drugs at the same time.
Weird, weird, weird.

I think she got mixed up, she probably means "Le Petit Mort" (french for "the little death"), it's an orgasm that's so transcendal that it makes you pass out. ;) woot!

I've been going to docs for various things for quite a while and have never had a diagnosis of anything that quick.

I'm with you!!! Though in all honesty, most posts from this poster strike me as bizarre at best and sad if true.

The other thread was closed, and I bet this one ain't long for the world...so all together now!!

I dont have to make anything up . I honestly don't so the fact that alot of you are assuming that I am just makes me feel like the biggest train wreck. I was definetly prescribed both Lexapro AND Abilify and told to take them together. I dont know anything about those medications other than they are extremly expensive . I saw therapists in the past and I was never prescribed anti depressants and thats why im nervous about taking them. I also heard you gain weight and I've been working hard on my figure and i dont want to take something that will have me hungry . Im trying to be alot smaller by summer so i can actually enjoy my summer for once .

If everything you say is true and if you are falling asleep because you are depressed and your kids have been taken to the police station because of sleeping away the day, and you are depressed because your ex ruined your life, along with everything else then take your doctors advice and take the meds. I don't understand why you wouldn't try the medication if it could help you.

It's just a guess on my part, but I don't think that she is a reliable reporter. IF she did go in (personally I don't believe it, but that doesn't really matter), I think that what she is telling us is probably not anywhere close to what really happened, or what was said. My guess is that they did not do a full blood panel on a woman who comes in, in a clearly depressed mental state, complaining of taking a nap that went too long.

OK, let's believe that you were prescribed these meds. I am OK with believing this--what I'm not OK with is if you have them and will not try them.

And--did they tell you along with the meds they'd want you to have counseling? Surely no doctor in their right mind would say you are severely depressed and not suggest you see a therapist.

What about going for help, sitting down & sharing your feelings, emotions and thoughts out with someone trained to listen and help?

Im doing that as well. If you do not keep your appointments with the psychologist than the psychiatrist will not prescribe you meds and they'll close your case. I was prescribed the meds for the first 30 days and I will see the psychologist on the 23rd. I dont have alot of faith in the psychologist . I've seen a couple as a teen and they didn't help at all. I just want to sort out my thoughts and get my life back. I used to work full time and i'd walk to work 2 miles each way every day and I stood on my feet all day and it was not a problem. I was so in shape and I had friends and was happy. I just want to be that person again. My friends disappeared. They got tired of me . I was the ultimate debbie downer. I don't even blame them .
