I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

I hear ya! I love making our countdown calendars, but it does take some effort. And I have never tried to make one for someone else - how cool! Of course, yours is much more fancy than mine what with all your fancy Mickey heads! ;) :scared: I suppose I will make myself try to Mickey-head up mine next time now! :scared1: :rotfl2:

My fancy Mickey Heads.....:lmao: I am fancy like that! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Trust me, if I didn't have my handy-dandy Cricut machine.....I would not have a calendar that looked like that. :rotfl:

You guys are both ahead of me. I just did a dry erase board!

Ain't no shame in a dry erase board. I may have done that a time or two myself. :rolleyes1

Amanda, do you have a Cricut? Or did you draw out all of those Mickeys?

If I drew out all the Mickey heads, they most certainly would not look like that! :lmao: Yes, I have a Cricut machine. Love that thing!!! I have a Mickey Font Cartridge which I used for the letters & the big Mickey Head @ the bottom that says "Oh Boy!". And I have a Mickey & Friends cartridge which I used to make all the Mickey Heads & the characters.

:rotfl2: Thank you - that was the first good laugh I have had in a while! You crack me up, girl!

I agree - that was a good one! :lmao:

Um, okay, I need one of these whatever-the-heck-you-are-talking-about things. PM me some kind of link please? I need to be FANCY!

You are killing me! :lmao::rotfl2: You need to be fancy! :rotfl2::lmao:

What I have is called the Cricut Expression. There are different versions of the Cricut. Some are smaller. I like the expression because you can do 12x12 sheets of paper. Nice when you're cutting out something big or a lot of something (like 45 Mickey Heads). You can buy them pretty much at any craft store, Wal-Mart or even Amazon. But, I will tell you that for the last few years Wal-Mart has had them on sale during Black Friday & they were usually pretty good deals. I got mine on Black Friday back in 2008 or 2009....can't remember. And they come in different colors & such. Mine is red! Anyway, here's the link:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cricut-Ex...machine-Customer-Choice-Value-Bundle/15523485

I'll tell you one more thing, Miss Fancy Pants: if you get a Cricut, the cartridges can be expensive. Definitely look for sales at the craft stores and shop on eBay. Most of my cartridges have come from reputable sellers on eBay & all were new.

Wow! I am going to have to find some other ways to make myself crafty so that I can justify the expense of this just to make my countdown calendar more fancy. GAH!!!!! Dangit! I have tried to avoid being crafty for so long - mostly because I am NOT crafty. But I want those dang Mickey heads, and there is no way I am going to cut them all out. :scared: Hmmmmmm I have quite some time to Martha-Stewart'ize myself before the next calendar, I guess. :scratching I will come up with something.......

I'll give you 2 options for your next calendar:

1. Splurge on the fancy pants machine to make it. But, then you'll have to take up scrapbooking or something to justify the cost.

OR

2. Ask a certain DIS friend to make you one. I do believe they have mailing tubes for posters. Or if you wanted to do the poster yourself, you could tell me how many Mickey heads you need & how big. Also what characters, etc. you want & I could make them & mail them to you.

:rolleyes1 I am totally placing an order! :cool1:

I have to defend myself and say that I hoped you were using a Cricut, but as a person who's willingly cut out thousands of 1"x1" squares only to sew them back together, I wouldn't doubt anything. :lmao:

My SiL has a Cricut, I always buy her the cartridges for Christmas--they go on sale then. Amazon usually has some great deals too.

Cricut is one rabbit hole I can't let myself fall down. The quilting and sewing is already too much. ;)

Once you know you're travel dates & know what you want, just PM me. Tonight when I was talking with my friend about making calendars for her & her sister, I jokingly told her I need to open up a Countdown Calendar shop on Etsy. :rotfl:

If I didn't have my Cricut, we woud definitely be using our Dry Erase board as the countdown calendar!

I'm glad you told me that! I'll have to check them out.

I wish I could sew. My friend Jana is so good at it & is always making neat things. Today, she told me that she has an idea for a Tooth Fairy pillow so she's going to make it for Reid.

I do have to say that I use my Cricut a lot. I use it for scrapbooking, countdown calendars, gift bags, gift tags, stuff for Reid's classes, invitations.....goodness I sound like the Forrest Gump of Cricut. :lmao:

Check out Amazon-you can usually find good stuff.

Have you guys seen the Tooth Fairy picture thing on Pinterest? It's a website where you send in a pic of your kid sleeping and they superimpose the Tooth Fairy on the pillow! I can't wait to try it.

I love sewing, the detail of it calms me. 3 years ago my NY resolution was to teach myself and I'm so glad that I did. Maddie's dress up clothes are what I learned on!

As soon as I get back into scrapbooking, I'll check out the Cricut. It looks really cool. My SiL makes really good stuff with it.

You've done a great job teaching yourself! Maddie's clothes are always so cute! You make her Disney outfits, right?

I'll have to look that up on Pinterest! Sounds cool!

If you get back into scrapbooking, definitely look into buying a Cricut. Totally worth it!

I make some of them. Mostly just princess dresses and skirts. I think I'm making a skirt for a DIS mom. Maybe you and I should launch a joint venture--countdown calendars and custom princess clothes. :rotfl:

I will for sure. I really do want to get back into it. I'm already behind on my sewing though. Haven't started either Merida dress that I promised Maddie, and I owe my lil bro a quilt from last Christmas.:rolleyes1

That's a good idea! We could make all sorts of Disney crafts for people. You could take of the sewing projects & I'll do all the paper crafts. I bet we could do quite well! :thumbsup2

It's so easy to get behind on craft projects. :sad2: I had been doing so well keeping up with Reid's scrapbooks. This year, I have fallen very behind. Luckily, I'm going to my friend Jana's house this Saturday for a scrapping day. Well, we'll be working on my costume from about 11 to 4. Then, there is a group of about 8 to 10 of us that will be scrapbooking from 4pm to midnight. I really need to start catching up!

Yes the bears are at Merida's meet and greet!

I would totally order a countdown calendar!

I thought I remembered that from your TR but wasn't positive. Reid just may go to that meet & greet then.

Hmmmm.....maybe I should open up a Disney countdown calendar store. :scratchin

You should! I know I would get one and I'm sure there are quite a few people who would.:thumbsup2

LOVE LOVE LOVE the countdown calender!!!!:cool1:

I too have no one to dine with at the castle. Although maybe when we try for our next bundle of joy maybe it will be a girl!

I think ya'll will really enjoy breakfast at CP. MK always deserves a 2nd full day ;):)! The nice thing about a early ressie there means you can usually beat the crowds to all the rides depending on the time of rope drop.

Y'all are definitely make me consider it.

Thank you so much!

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only Disney lover who has yet to eat in the castle. That would be so fun if you got a little princess. It would allow for lots of new Disney experiences.

I can't imagine going on a long trip & not going to MK twice. Even on our short trips, I've always put in 1 full day & 1 half day at MK. I really hope we'll be out of CP right before rope drop.

Love the calender. I think boys who eat at crt get a sword?!? i could be wrong tho but i know they got something when the girls got wands in 2010. The food isnt spectacular but the princesses are worth it. We only ate there once so far but have plans to eat there again in a few weeks. Ots becoming our tradition. Lol

I am so jealous of your villains shirts! I love it!

Very cute countdown:thumbsup2 I thought about making a countdown calendar but no one else seems to care:sad2:

Mmmm, Crystal Palace is my favorite breakfast ever. I love having the 8am adr but I have a feeling MK will be open at 8am everyday for President's Week so we are going to skip it this year.

I would love to get a cricut. I thought about it last year when making FE stuff for the Dream but decided it was probably going to start another costly obsession which apparently DH thinks I already have too many of:rolleyes1

Thanks! Yeah, I think I've heard that boys get swords. I think that's a fun tradition to have with your girls.

Thank you! I was so excited when I saw it.

Aww, thanks so much! You should make one for you. Even if it's something simple. I've done simple ones on a dry erase board in the past when I was the only one who cared.

I don't blame you for skipping it in Feb. I probably wouldn't do it if I couldn't get in before the park opens either.

It really can be quite costly. If you use it a lot (which I really do), it can be totally worth it though.
