I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

Hi!! I hope you love 'Ohana as much as we do....yes the food is yummy but for us it represents the start of our trip!! We always eat there our first night...(okay this is only our 3rd trip :rolleyes2) and it starts everything off for us!

Every now & then I run across a bad review of 'Ohana. But, for the most part, it seems like people love it. Hopefully, we will too!
:rotfl2: Well, my TR was one of those semi-bad reviews! :rotfl2: But I think that was more our circumstances and the particular entertainer that we had - I am sure you guys will have a blast! :woohoo:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE 'Ohana:)

I woke up bright and early today to book 'Ohana for the night of the Princess Half as our celebration dinner.:thumbsup2

I can't believe Sept. is right around the corner. I haven't really been thinking about our trip much, no idea if I have clothes for the cruise, haven't printed the documents, brought up luggage, nothing:confused3 Hopefully once Caitlin goes back to school next Wed. I can get organized.

Ohana is one of my favorites!!! One thing I learned on our last trip (thanks to dh) was that the skewered meat can be "ordered to your liking" Dh asked if there was any way to get the steak rare and sure enough.. voila they brought us a much more rare piece. When I went with dd, we just took what came around and honestly... the meat was very well done. (not my favorite) So in the event that you prefer steak one way or another... try letting your server know. :goodvibes

I hope Ed really likes the food at 'Ohana since he's really looking forward to it. It does seem like it's the kind of meal to get a trip started or a good way to end a trip.

I know...but you were just being honest. I'd rather hear what people really thought and not just candy-coating everything. There are some places we like that I know other people don't care for. Hopefully, we'll enjoy 'Ohana. We'll find out one way or another in just a few weeks! :cool1:

What a great celebration dinner! That's going to be such a fun trip!

Yeah, you should be able to focus on the vacation once Caitlin is back in school. You can always get so much more done when you're alone, right? I'm so excited that it finally feels like it's getting close!

You can picture me doing the cheer can't ya :lmao:

I really can!! :rotfl2:

That's a great tip about the meat! :thumbsup2 I'm definitely going to let Ed know that because he likes his steak done medium. Thank you!

So happy for you to try O'hana! LOVE IT! We have not been back in years and I can't wait to go again. Last year while waiting for them to open for dinner Nicholas had a complete meltdown in line.. the kind where everyone looks at you like :confused3 Yea he met his Disney exhaustion limit so we left the SIL BIL and DN and went back to get him to bed  But there is always March!

I have not seen the fireworks from the beach there but saw them while still eating at the table. We had the perfect view of the castle and it was amazing! I can only imagine it to be even more amazing on the beach! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I think they will find a awesome and special drink for Reid and he will love feeling like a big boy with a treat beverage!!!

I think we've all experienced those kinds of meltdowns....whether they're at Disney or at a store or a restaurant....:sad2: They are never fun, that's for sure. I hope you can get back there in March & have a nice meal! :goodvibes

I bet it's pretty cool to be able to watch them from your table as well. Of course, to me, Disney fireworks are magical from just about any vantage point. :rotfl:

I'm really glad to know that. I know he'll be happy to have his own special drink.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Ours is going well so far. Thought I'd stop in with a few little life updates while I had a quick moment.

First up:

Our cruise for 2013. Well....there's been a change! Shocking, I know! :lmao: A couple of weeks ago, Ed told me that a certain project he's working on for a company may run up right until our cruise time. So, I was starting to wonder if we should move the cruise. Then, on Friday, I had to go to Reid's school for Parent Orientation. I was looking at the holiday schedule & saw that the last day of school is May 22nd. We would be leaving May 17th. Now, I know it's only PreK4 & it's not a big deal if they miss school. But part of me did feel bad for him missing the last few days of school since (a) he'll already miss 6 days for our upcoming trip and (b) the last few days of school are so fun for them. Soooo......yesterday I ended up moving us to the 6/1/13 Eastern Caribbean sailing on the Fantasy. Only problems were:

1. It's a little more expensive. Everyone say, "BOOOO!!!!"
2. There were no more aft verandahs. But, we still got a verandah on our same deck, so that's ok.
3. Early dining was all booked! So, we had to go with the late dining. But, we have been wait listed for early dining. Let's hope some dining pixie dust blows our way! pixiedust:

Also, my aunt & uncle came through town yesterday & stopped for a visit. They are thinking about going on the cruise with us! I really hope they do but we'll see.

Next:

I think I've mentioned here about Reid being born with a hearing loss in his right ear. He couldn't hear very high frequencies in that ear. Back in May, we went to a new ENT & the audiologist in her office did a hearing test on Reid. Well, he passed. Great news, right? Both the doctor & myself were a little unsure about his passing the test. Then, she looked at his old records of tests he's had since he was about 5 weeks old & she thought there was no way he could truly be passing this test. So.....we had to go to a different audiologist on Thursday to have a more in-depth hearing test. It's the kind he's always had to have.....it looks at how your brain responds to different frequencies. Well............he passed. :confused3 It's all very good news, especially since he'll be starting school next year. But, pretty much everyone is confused how the nerve healed itself. We were told that is usually seen when the child is still very young.....like 1 or 2 years old. Supposedly, they've never seen a 4 year old who all of a sudden has healed nerves. We'll go for another check-up & hearing test with the ENT in November....so hopefully it will all stay the same.

Last but not Least:

This morning, Reid had to go test for his next level karate belt. I was a little nervous since it wasn't at his studio & it was with some unfamiliar faces (students & teachers). I have to tell y'all.....he did great!!! I was so proud of him. In his age group, he was probably one of the better ones testing. Here's a few pictures:

That's him receiving his new belt.

Hopefully, I haven't bored y'all too much with this update! :rotfl: Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend! :goodvibes

Way to go Reid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the nerve healing...let's chalk it up to RC pixie dust :lovestruc

BOO! for a more expensive cruise, but YAY Reid can graduate preK with his friends

Oh my gosh, Reid is so terribly cute in his karate outfit!

I'm late to this party, but I've read other TRs of yours, and I always enjoy seeing your little cutie.

AWESOME JOB REID (on the karate belt) :cool1::cool1:

That's also great about passing the hearing test. Lots of pixie dust that things remain the same for his test in November!!

Oh goodness! I just love the karate pics of Reid. Amazing!

And how cool about his hearing! Isn't that something? The human body is truly inexplicable sometimes (and, like now, occasionally that is in a good way!)!

Yay Reid!!! He is the cutest thing ever in his karate outfit!

That's amazing that he's passed the hearing test again! He must be a pretty special kid! :goodvibes

That's too bad about having to chance the cruise. I hope that everything works out well in the end-I have no doubt that it will.

Another belt for Reid. That's awesome! :cool1:

I am glad you were able to painlessly move your cruise. that's great! Reminds me that I want to book mine this week.

Aft verandah? What is the advantage. I know nothing. I even forget if aft is front or back. :rotfl: I think its the back of the ship. :rotfl:

Oh - and yeah for passing the hearing test, too. That is really great news!

Oh he looks like such a little man concentrating on his test....you must be so proud of him! CONGRATS REID!!:dance3::cool1::jumping1:

All caught up...at least for today!!! :yay: Love the calendar. I have never done one since my family already thinks I am a little crazy! I do keep a countdown on my phone...and come to think about it, they think that is crazy! :confused3

I will not say anything about the Ohana reservation due to I am almost there in my TR and don't want to give away my opinion....I will say 9 or 9:30is a little too late so hooray on getting the earlier. And the bar (as others have said) will get anything for you, even water.
