We stayed at OKW for 7 days prior to the week before Christmas. Crowds were good and we had fun.

Can I admit we were actually bored? We have gone every year for 8 years now and we feel like we've seen most of WDW. At least the parts we are really interested in. It's not that it wasn't fun, it just didn't feel as special. Christmas decoration seem little compared to years past. I just didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling.

So we've all agreed we wont be using our DVC for at least 2 years to build up some excitement and get that magic back.

I didn't think I'd ever make such a statement!

You've lost that lovin' feeling, eh? Don't worry, it'll be back!

You can always throw in a Hilton Head and/or a Vero Beach trip now and then to help keep things new.

We will go to WDW about once every 3 years. Otherwise, it is usually VB for us and then HHI once every few years also.

Nothing wrong with taking a break and mixing in some new trips. When you come back in two years, there will be new parades, new rides and even new characters.

Use your points and trade into II or rent them and book a reservation where you just have to go visit.

We still find our annual trips very enjoyable and look with anticipation to them. But I could see taking a break down the road if we feel "Disneyed-out".

If we get to such a point, we might do a DCL cruise or something else with our points.

If you were bored with all the extra goings on at Christmas time, then you're probably right to take a break. DVC Mike is right when he says you'll get that lovin' feeling back for sure! :)

Thanks everyone!

I was worried that I had this feeling. I didn't think in a million years it would happen. I love Disney. Also could be the boys are teens now and the absence of the magic in their faces could be a part of it. Those darn teen years!

I do look forward to going again in a few years when we'll pretty much be empty nesters then.

Even going every year there was always something new, so it wasn't so much boring but not so magical. We got to see Laugh Floor this time and we all loved it! So there will be more to see in 2 or 3 years and then it will be time to obsess when we can go again....lol I'm okay with that!

Try going out to Disney Land, or anywhere else in the USA at all the other hotels and resorts that are offered through the DVC owners program. DVC is usually all about Disney, but it is more than just Disney........Just find a nice place kick back and enjoy the surroundings.

Have fun and see you at Disney in a few years!

Maybe try interval international to have a new experience. :)

I'm sure the disney magic will return within 2 yrs. ;) :wizard:

As others have said...it'll come back (and maybe even sooner than you realize!).

And if you are looking for the magic...I strongly recommend DCL or Disneyland...both will be wonderful and different, yet still Disney and magical!

Well of course you were. 8 years of the same thing will get to anyone. FWIW we've felt that way before. Last year I spent my winter working on a huge project then planning the big London trip for the summer. By the time I got to Orlando in April I had forgotten why I was there. I mean how often can you watch Spectromagic or ride Small World before you've noticed the same sparkling treasures a thousand times. What restored our faith was finding a new spot to see Wishes and actually listening to the music for a change.

Now we go with less of a desire to do rides and more to just notice the landscaping and talk to the people. We love going to the hotels mid-day when it's slower and people are bored enough to talk. Our last two trips we've taken relative newbies. That'll change your focus.

Travel elsewhere for a bit. Something not remotely Disney. II trades are excellent for that. Then come back at a different time of year. WDW in the Spring looks and feels very different from the Fall and nothing is quite like the Winter.

Most everyone agrees that the best bang for your DVC points is with DVC properties. In your case the best bang for your "Disney Spirit" is to use your points and try out the other options through DVC.....then report back to all of us on all the other neat places you have been able to see!!!!

After 4 straight years at WDW, we just returned from a HHI-VBR-DCL combo. What a fantatic week we had. Going back to WDW next January will be great after taking a year off from it.:goodvibes

pssssst...Disney Cruise Line...you won't be sorry...:rolleyes1

...and don't forget all the exciting new things happening at DLR! You're so close, I'm envious.

I agree, that is why I chose VB as an add on. Since we only do 2 trips in a year, and maybe 2 in 1 1/2 years, only going to WDW once in that time frame, keeps everything in a balance. And this is also why I like the changes that DVD is making. Everything in moderation.......:goodvibes

I've been to WDW about 5 times in the last 7 years. It's starting to get a little "old hat" but here is my strategy for our next trip this December. All of our past visits have been basically the same: hit one park per day, two days at universal, back for more WDW parks. One park per day doing as much as possilbe, not comando-style exactly, but rush rush rush a lot of the time.

This next trip is going to be different. We will hit the parks, but we are also going to explore some of the other areas that we have never been to. Mostly I'm going to slow everything way down. Here are some of my ideas so far:

1) more resort exploring. Never been to fort wilderness.
2) more resort only days. use the pool, try to catch an evening pool side movie
3) maybe I'll learn to golf and wife can visit spa
2) downtown Disney. Only been there once many years ago.
3) water parks. We've never been either one yet.
4) Fantasia mini golf
5) take some tours
6) going to see every country, show, movie, display in Epcot World Showcase
7) going to let the boys have as much time in imaginations as they want
8) ...still adding ot the list.

Those boys will find girls one day, and the cycle starts again-believe me I know-and it's wonderfull taking new faces that have never been there before.:wizard:
