We had a custom Disney wedding so ours was high. Not WAY over but over. In my defense I spent much less than I would have at home. My grandfather paid for most of it. He died about a year later. I was his only grandchild and was his princess. It was as much for him as it was for me, as he knew he'd never see my children. I think he was just grateful to have lived long enough to see my wedding. Financially it wasn't more than a drop in the bucket for him so I don't feel guilty of have any regrets about spending that much.

We paid for the honeymoon, the rehearsal dinner and our attire.

DH & I got married in '90 and I'm not sure of the exact cost but I DO know that my Dad had open bar for the wedding party and family members and that bill alone was about $5,000 (yikes!). Is that crazy or what??? My mom & dad would never tell me what it actually cost, but when I add things up in my head I know it was at least $15,000 once you factor everything in. It was a GREAT reception (and wedding of course ;) ) and I am so grateful to my parents for all they did.

Well, the sheet with our final total says $7801.01. Plus there would have been another $500 for the rehersal dinner, which DH's parents paid for.

That was in 1997. My parents paid about $5000 of it, and DH and I paid the rest.

That was just for the wedding. We took two honeymoons. One immediately after the wedding at DL, which was about $1100. And then 6 months later we spent 10 days in WDW, which was another $5000. We purposely waited a year extra to get married so we could save up.

my dd got married last april, we spent about 1500.00 $ ( not including rings or honeymoon ), we did just about everything ourselves , the invitations, flowers, programs, the cake was from walmart and before you laugh let me tell you my dd took a picture of what she wanted and they did it perfectly for 150.00 it was beautiful, no one ever knew . It was really the most fun, we did as much as we could seeing how we ALL really didn't have money to spend on a wedding, we all sat down and did what we could do. The wedding really ended up to be beautiful, with just the little bit of money we had in it, ebay really became a friend :teeth: we wish we could have let her have a huge wedding, but we just didn't have the money. Looking back I wouldn't have changed anything, it brought us all close and she had a really fun wedding ( this was for 50 people ). And when they drove off all happy, we knew it was all payed for, and done ! :thumbsup2

We got married about 2 years ago and it cost about $40,000 not including rings, honeymoon, etc. Our wedding was in CT and that was the norm in my area.

I look back and it was the best day of my life, wouldn't have changed a thing!! I think any wedding, no matter of the cost is such a beautiful thing..I love weddings!!

We're getting married this summer and my wedding is costing around $40,000 (for a Long Island wedding, it's pretty average). That figure truly makes me cringe, but I'm the only daughter and my parents really wanted to give me my dream wedding. Luckily, they can afford to do so, and both DFi and myself feel blessed.

ETA: That doesn't include the rings and honeymoon - DFi and I are paying for those. Rings are around $2,000 and honeymoon around $4,000.

Mine was just about 7K 13 years ago. The place we were married only held 75 people, so we were limited on the number of people who we could invite. We were married on a Sunday and had a party for everyone else on the Friday before at our house. We paid for everything except the open bar. That includes our honeymoon which was about 3K.

Under $1,000 back in 1992. 4 kids later we are still married.

We did a custom wedding in Disney with 60 guests. It was back in 1997. Then the price for a wedding like that was $12,500. I think when all was said and done we were at exactly $15,000 (not including my dress, rings, tux rentals, travel, things like that).

Had we gotten married back in NY where we were living at the time, our wedding would have been WELL over $40,000. But that gave me panic attacks. So we "ran away" with our 60 people. And got married in Disney World.

If you add all the other things (dress, travel, etc), we were at $23,500. But the actual event was only $15,000.

Unfortunately, yeah. I keep telling my parents they should have bought the ladder, LOL.

Thanks, I hope so! :goodvibes

1K for the ring, 3K for two weeks in Playa del Carmen at an all-inclusive. we got married on the beach at sunset, and that was 13 years ago. our bridal party was entirely people we met on the trip.

Ya'll make me worry! I've got a precious 21 yr. old dd and I worry that when she gets ready to marry we won't be able to give her the wedding of her dreams because weddings these days just seem so outrageously expensive. Of course we do live in the south were weddings cost MUCH less on average than they do on either coast but still...my dd has never had inexpensive tastes in anything and I've got a feeling that a wedding will be no exception.

Including dress, service, pictures, video, flowers, hotel in Vegas, honeymoon, week at Disneyland, etc, it came to around $4000.

We got married in 1997 and our wedding was somewhere between $20.000-30.000.
Iceland is a very expensive country, so we might have gotten away with far less for the same standard somewhere else. My parents paid for everything.

I don't know the exact figure (FIL paid for most of it), but it was somewhere in the range of $30K, everything included (except honeymoon and rings).

I'm not sure, but it probably wasn't a whole lot -- maybe between $1500 and $2500. DH and I got married in 1994 and we originally wanted just a small ceremony outdoors -- very casual. My mom talked me into a regular church wedding and she would pay for it. I got my gown at cost because my maid of honor managed a bridal shop. :teeth: I got a much nicer gown than I would have otherwise been able to afford. We had a reception with a buffet dinner at an Elks club (nicest club in our small town).

It really was the happiest day of my life and it worked out beautifully.

I got married in 1997 here in ny we paid about for everything from church donation to alaska honeymoon cruise probaly 50,000.00 . I loved my wedding but i think of the cost and i want to vomit, but here that is what you pay.We saved for two years and paid for the whole thing,

Our 2003 wedding cost between 6-7k. It was a NC church wedding and reception for 300 guests. One attendant for me, best man for DH, and 4 ushers - we bought their suits and the dress for my MOH. The reception was around $2500, that was catered but still a bargain for 300 people (finger foods, lots of very nice choices). The 6-7k includes absolutely everything. And I am still very happy with how it turned out, it was the most fun we have had in ages!

$35 dollars and that included $12.50 for some flowers and the marriage licence. Borrowed a wedding dress.

Just a word of advice for those comtemplating a wedding - if you aren't willing to still get married for a $35 wedding, then perhaps you shouldn't get married at all. Party lasts one day, marriage is a lifetime.
