It varies from year to year for us but typically one- week or longer trip and a few shorter trips. Already planned for 2007- A long weekend in AR for a wedding (we've never been to AR so we are looking forward to it), a week long ski trip to Colorado, a 5 day trip to Seattle (1st time there as well) for business/ fun, and a long weekend a few hours from home in June for a piano competition that will be combined with a trip to Six Flags and Medievil Times. So that's four already planned for this year and it's still Jan.

Last year we did a week in NYC, the long weekend Piano thing, and a few days in Vegas. We also did at least one trip to visit family.

If we go to Europe it is always for at least 2 weeks since the flights are so expensive.

I read travel books like novels and am always planning the next trip.

We mainly do Wed-Sun camping at Knoebels in August. Actually, it's a MUST DO vacation.

Oh, who knows, and what is considered a vacation?

We try to tag along with DH on business trips for free travel and he usually will have a day or two to have fun.

We drive for a long weekend to meet family.....very obligatory, so not a restful "vacation."

I have a 4 day beach trip with my girl friends once a year that does not include husband or children! Now THAT is a vacation, but not a family vacation.

So, I have no idea.

We try to go away three or four times a year, usually once north for skiing for 4 nights or so, once south for beach (or a cruise) for 7-10 days, and at least 10 days off from work during the summer to enjoy at home (well, really at the beach -- we live on Cape Cod) -- then there's the two outlet shopping trips we make, one the day after Xmas for two nights and the one in August for one or two nights. This year, I managed a 17-day to Hawaii in November, Myrtle Beach planned for May (Girls Only) and planned trip to the Southern Caribe AI in the fall. Yep, friends at work ask me how I get away with it:rotfl2: Financially, we eat simple while at home, lots of soup and sandwiches, burgers and salads, etc. with few snacks or soda, buy our clothes at outlets, and just watch our spending.

It is good to see that Knoebels is still around. I remember going about 4 years ago and it was fun. My in laws are drom Shamokin and we made a side trip.

Back on topic- we take about 3-5 vacations a year. Just depends.

People at work tease me about that too. They always ask me to book their travel because I seek out deals.

Last year I did 4 trips that were about a week long each. Three beach trips and 1 Disney Trip.

This year will be diferrent for me. My best friend called and asked about the UK. So I have a good chance of that trip working out (it was cancelled last year so wish me luck). I also have the opportunity to add 10 days to the front my adoption trip to China.

So I am thinking 2 trips for 07 but 4 is more the norm.

Definitely add the extra days to China if you can. It goes by so fast and once you have the baby you won't get much sight seeing done. It's all about her at that point!

Lately, two week-long vacations each year. I'm a SAHM, but DH gets teased at work about how many vacations we take.

We're pretty frugal in other areas so we can afford our vacations.

We usually have one weeklong vacation where we actually go away-usually centered around theme parks and roller coasters. We also volunteer at a Christian camp each year. That's definitely NOT a vacation but it's a lot of fun to work with the kids in a beautiful place-and I don't have to cook or clean!

It's just my husband and I and we both work full time. We also take 5 + vactions a year last year we did 6 vactions ( at least a week long) and then some smaller road trips. we love to travel though.

We never used to do much, then we increased to 1 per year. These past two years we have increased to 1 WDW and 1 camping trip per year. I guess I would fall into the 2 per year even though the camping trip is pretty cheap, WDW is not.

3 week-long trips to WDW this year....see the vacation tickers below, counting them down!! Can't wait! :cool1:

we usually do 1 disney trip a year. we missed a couple of summers ago. we go by amtrak train, so i figure 1 to 1 1/2 days travel down and back , so its usually 8,9,10 days for that. then my youngest sister has a house down the cape, which we either go for 1 week in the summer whenever we want. sometimes we will do a long week end after summer .

In the last five years we have been to disney every year with the grandkids for 10 days and sometimes include a cruise. DH and i go on a couple of close by one night get aways for just the 2 of us.

I am so jealous. We don't have a trip planned to disney for this year not sure yet what we are going to do. Thought we might just take a couple of weekend vacations. The house could use some painting and carpet. So we might use our longer vacation time taking care of that.

We are in the 2-3 category-- and were even when I was a SAHM. My house is small, I have 12 dollar cable, shop at Salvation Army-- but have more vacations than family members who earn twice as much! Interesting that so many on the budget board take more vacations-- I like to think it's because we have our priorities straight!:thumbsup2

We usually do one 2-3 week vacation, one 5-7 day vacation and several long-weekends.

This year we´ve got one 3 week (actually 22 days) vacation to the US (road trip from NYC to Orlando) planned, I´m going to Lithuania for one week in July and we´re hoping to fit in a couple of days in Copenhagen, Denmark towards the end of the year. Additionally we´ve planned a couple of domestic trips, long-weekends and such.

We do a one week beach trip every July, that is always a given. Then we do a few long weekends, either at the beach or somewhere else where we have family. Last year, we did two 4 day Disney trips, this year, we are probably going for 5-7 days in October.

we always have a trip in the works...but I'm a travel agent, so its to be expected! :thumbsup2 I tend to break down our vacation by "flying" vacations, where we need to fly to get where we're going, and "driving" vacations. We take about 6-8 "flying" vacations per year, plus another 4-6 "driving" vacations. DH and I get away alone some times, but we've discovered that taking the kids along is wonderful now that they are a little older.

I'm just happier when I'm planning a trip!:cool1:

We always have a trip planned. I really do live for vacations. I just love seeing new places and meeting new people.

We are also a one income family. We are the type of people who could care less about "stuff"....in fact I just recently got a new cell phone ...last one was 11 years old but still worked. (DH bought it for Xmas). The latest and greatest gadgets just don't thrill me...I'd much rather go somewhere.

We usually do 10-12 days at Disney (offsite) . 10-12 days camping - a week or so at the beach and a cruise or two if I can get a good deal and fit it in to the schedule and budget.

My friends think I must have a trust fund stashed somewhere, but we really hunt down deals (SkyAuction is one of my favorites) and book VERY early for things in order to pay for them. Case in point...I just booked next February's trip (cruise) and we haven't even left for this February's (Disney.) But they are always paid for before we go and have no debt other than our mortgage.

I must be insane!!! It's all because my parents let me take a class trip to Mexico and then Ireland in high school. I am still suffering from that travel bug!!!! And my dh and kids now have it. What's a girl to do!!!

Happy planning!!
