My friends at work joke that I live for vacations. I always seem to be planning one. We typically only take one week long vacation in a year and several shorter 2 -5 night vacations to local places (within 3 - 5 hour drive). Those include trips to see my SIL which often include day trips to local things in her area. I have always told DH that I want to make it 2 weekly trips a year plus some weekend trips as well. Just for 2007, I am going to Vegas this week (3 nights), the whole family (including my IL's) are going camping along with a trip to Niagara Falls in June and I am trying to plan a trip to Disney for either Sept or Dec. Plus I am sure there are going to be a few weekend trips along the way as well. I really think I do just live/work for vacations :lmao:

So, how many vacations do you typically take in a year?

Well every other year we do 2 week long trip with several weekend ones thrown in... On the other years we do one week long trip with more day trips thrown in... This year is a 2 trip year:cool1: (shh maybe even a 3 if I can save for it!)

We're doing one two week vacation (this year to Italy) and probably two or three other long weekend type trips. We enjoy the two week vacation and find that we really relax more more than going away for a week. Plus, when going to Europe these days, airfare is about 25% of the cost of the trip, so we like to stay as long as we can when there.

We've been doing one a year recently, but I voted "two" for this year, because we're going to WDW in February, and on an Adventures by Disney trip in September. Hopefully, we'll be able to continue to do that as time goes on... I need the escape that frequently.

People at work tease me about that too. They always ask me to book their travel because I seek out deals.

Last year I did 4 trips that were about a week long each. Three beach trips and 1 Disney Trip.

This year will be diferrent for me. My best friend called and asked about the UK. So I have a good chance of that trip working out (it was cancelled last year so wish me luck). I also have the opportunity to add 10 days to the front my adoption trip to China.

So I am thinking 2 trips for 07 but 4 is more the norm.

I would've voted for once a year but check out my signature - the WDW addiction is getting worse! :earboy2:

lately ive been going to disney at least once a year with my grandparents which is awesome. i love it!

We do 2 extended trips every year.

1 with the kids that is usually 10-12 days long and 1 week that is Mom & Dad only!

I am always planning a vacation! DH and I leave on Monday for our week in the south and I have already booked some of our rooms and activities for our summer trip to the East Coast of Canada.

I am a compulsive trip planner - and I love it!

Well usually we take one longer trip (10 Days, Disney) every year. And we try to squeeze in as many short weekend trips as possible. We just got back from the Wisconsin Dells last week, and I just books another weekend trip for March this morning. I would really like to do something over Easter break, but nothing planned right now.

We usually take 1 trip a year out to visit the in-laws. That is about it.

As a kid we never took a vacation until I was high school age- seriously-it was a big deal to go to the next town 30 minutes away! Well I did go on some day trips with school- but other than that-nothing.

I married someone in the military- so I made up for lack of travel for a few years (I should have just entered the military myself and NOT married him!)

In the last 7 years or so we have tried to take atleast a 2-3 trips a year- only short 4-5 days though. A year ago we took a cruise though- and we were gone for 10 days and we loved the longer break. Unfortunantly we can't afford to do that again for a couple years..but I see us going to 1 week a year every year plus a few smaller trips. Our DD plays travel ball so in the summer we are gone for the weekend atleast every other weekend...not a vacation to most (running back and forth from the ball parks!) but as a family we all really like it. Our younger son and daughter can't wait for the season to start...we may add on a couple days to a couple weekends..but thats pretty much our vacations for this year.

If we could afford it...we'd be gone all the time!

I used to average one or less a year. But now I've decided to live a little and have 2-3 a year. This year it's 2 WDW trips and maybe a couple of 4 day weekend trips to other places.

My 93 year old Grandmother kept asking me about where I was going on vacation and I never had an answer for her. :( I realized I was spending all of my vacation time in dribs and drabs and never actually going anywhere. So I decided it was time to live abit thanks to her reminders.

We take 2 vacations a year.

It's good for my health. :)

Last year I took 3 almost weeklong trips and 4 long weekend trips. I guess it depends on where I go and how many days I need in each location. I love going places and getting away!

I couldn't decide how to vote in the poll. I generally consider our "vacation" our once yearly trip in the summer that is 10+ days - so I would say one vacation a year.

However, we also do one five day trip to visit family over New Years, our annual Labor Day camping trip with friends, and maybe two more weekend trips - camping, a quick trip to see family, or a night or two at a beach cabin.

I voted for one a year, but we do go out of town for kids' sporting events and stay in hotels for that. I didn't count those as "vacations" though. We may also take a weekend trip somewhere, but I also don't count those as vacations.

I always have a trip a month planned. It just seems to work that way. Big vacations that are a week or more add up to 6. The others are 3-4 days each. Poor DH doesn't get to go to all the places but I don't work so I do!

We try to budget for one big vacation (week long-ish) and a couple of weekend getaways - even if we don't stay overnight we'll take a day trip to places we like nearby that we don't visit very often just to have a day away from the usual grind. :laundy:

Last year was a week to WDW in March and two weeks in Aug. And a long wknd to NH over the 4th

This year Im booked at WDW one wk in APril, one wk in Aug and one wk in Nov.

Well I "move" to the lake/mountains from the end of March or so until the 1st of November or so - and that basically serves as my "vacation".. Last year I took a vacation over to the east coast during the summer though - and went to WDW in December..

This year I hope to get to Florida for awhile before I head up to the lake, so that will be a vacation - and "maybe" I'll go somewhere else for a week or so when the weather warms up..
