While planning my first adult trip to Disney World, the most common advice I've come across is "Relax, you won't be able to do it all!" Obviously there's enough in the World to keep people coming back, but I want to know...

How many rides do you average on an average day at Disney World?

I read an older article that stated that the average was about 9 rides. While I know that your averages will widely vary depending if you have children, are early risers, are break takers, are show seekers, or if you are ADR foodies, I wanted to know from the people who really take Disney-ing seriously!

There are 4 theme parks. So
It depends. And are you including re-rides?

At MK, with RE-rides, we had 8 done in our first 2 hours of an EMH morning, plus Tom Sawyer (does the raft count?), plus 3 fast passes. We majorly slowed down after the first two hours, so that would have yielded 11-12 rides for our large family. (Take away one to disregard the ride done has a baby swap.). Definitely more than 9 on a ride focused day.

So for us at MK, that would somewhat represent a typical day since on others we go at a slower place playing Sorceror's and such.

DHS, we hit the 4 main rides and may repeat 1, so typical is 5 rides.

AK, we usually hit the 4 main rides, but not always--so I would say 3 rides on avg.

EPCOT, we usually hit SE and either TT or Soarin' and maybe a secondary ride, so 2-3. But we aren't trying to hit all of them.

It depends on a few thing honestly. What park are you in? Obviously depending on which park you are in determines how many rides you can do.
Do you have a park hopper? that will definitely increase your options of how many you can ride during the day since you can hit multiple parks in one day. How early you get to the parks? What are the crowds/weather like? And most importantly, how do you feel? The amount of rides you do during one day is up to you. I personally do one park a day and always go back to the Magic Kingdom at night to ride my favorite rides, but during my Magic Kingdom day I make sure to do everything I skipped the previous nights.

Def depends on the park. MK we got in Splash Mountain, The haunted House (forget the name) Great Thunder Mountain in an hour and a half when we first got there using FP+ and squeezing in a ride we were right by already from the FP+ set ups. We ending up riding/seeing everything we wanted to that day by using the FP+ system efficiently and watching wait times. Including Space Mountain twice and seeing Elsa and Anna at PFH, we got in 15 rides in one day at MK. Epcot, not so much.

the average is different depending on the park i'm in since the parks don't have the same amount of rides and attractions in general.

i've also been enough to know what i do and don't like so while time would permit me doing more attractions i choose not to.

an average day at MK i probably do about 20 attractions which includes doing a couple of them twice. (takes all day)
an average day at EPCOT i probably do about 12 attractions which includes doing a couple of them twice. (that still leaves me enough time to just wander around WS)
an average day at HS i probably do about 9 attractions which includes doing a couple of them twice (i'm usually out of there by 3ppm.)
the average day at AK i probably do about 5 attractions (i'm out of there by noon. i don't care for AK that much)

I voted 0-5. There are often days when we don't do any attractions (at WDW they are not "rides") at all. We enjoy just wandering around and seeing what's going on. Especially at Epcot where we could spend hours just enjoying World Showcase.

It really depends on the park, how late it's open, and the crowds. I just got back from a four day trip and I had pretty typical touring for us. Breakdown is:
Day 1: AK (2 shows/2 rides)/ MK (6 rides, 1 character greet, and Wishes)
Day 2: HS (3 shows, 4 rides)
Day 3: EP (4 rides)/MK (1 show/7 rides)
Day 4: EP (1 character greet, 7 rides)

It does depend on what park you are in and also what time of year you are there. At the Magic Kingdom if I am there the entire day in the off season I would say 6-10 rides. As for the Animal Kingdom also in the off season I would say 0-5 rides since there are really several must rides for me to do there. Epcot I would say 6-10 rides if I am spending time in both Future World and World Showcase. World Showcase is mostly shows in the countries so I don't really count them as rides. As for Disney Hollywood Studios I find this park the hardest to navigate time to go on rides and see shows. Also most of the attractions at this park are shows so I find you have to time them well to get to see most of them. Of course at DHS I have the must do rides in The Tower of Terror and The Rock N Roller Coaster. So at DHS I would also say 0-5 rides.

Wow, y'all tour way differently than us. we usually do as many rides as humanly possible. We do rope drop and ride until the lines get too long, use fp and then take a break , come back at supper and stay late, again riding as much as we can.
At MK we did like 9 before lunch, three fast passes, then came back and got in a few more.

At Epcot, we did 8, I think? Soarin, test track, mission space, spaceship earth, living with the land, Mexico ride, sum of all thrills , nemo

DHS we did rnr twice, tot, star tour, great movie ride, toy story

Ak we did dinosaur, exp Everest twice, Safari, triceratops spin , primeval whirl. We don't do as many rides at AK or DHS

After going there for 32 years, I can honestly say that I do not actually know the answer to that question. I have never counted or targeted. I have always just gone there and, since FP+ chose those and other then that I just wandered around riding whatever was reasonable, enjoying the scenery, watching people, relaxing and when tired I leave. I have never looked at WDW as a marathon that needed to be rushed and pushed with some random target in mind. What I saw, I saw and what I didn't I made a mental note to try and see the next time. Probably why I have never had ulcer problems.

We probably hit 20-25 per day if you count re-rides. We stay until close every night when the lines are the shortest. My kids like to ride the headliners over and over again with no waiting.

We ride less most the time b/c we have one LO that is not tall enough for a lot of things so we use ride swap. If you count each of those time individually it would be quite a few. (I put down 6-10). Like PP said it also depends on the park. Magic Kingdom is really the only park that has more then 5 or 6 "true" rides. We could never hit all of them in one day, but for the most park can get them all in the 2 to 3 days we spend at MK. The rest of the parks we can hit all the main rides in one day.

This is more us now. :worship::worship::worship:

Disney is not a thrill ride place to us so, I really don't know the answer you want op???? It varies from trip to trip and park to park. If your counting repeats which we do alot like tot or splash mountain 5 times in arrow. (yes those where during offish season with fp+ in effect).

so op what are you looking for? info on what avg?, because disboard is not avg. Disney goers.

Full day at MK from RD to 1am with a 4 hour break in the middle - including re-rides we had 17 rides in one day and did not feel we were rushing. We also ate 3 meals, watched Wishes, had a few snacks, stopped for many photos and shopped a bit.

At any of the other parks I would say 6-10 rides max but more due to lack of options than lack of time.

I really think a lot of it depends on when you go in addition to how much time you plan to spend in the park.

On my last trip (January 2011), I managed to do the following:
EP- 13 rides/attractions (if you count Soarin twice)
DHS- 9 rides + Fantasmic
MK- 15 rides + MSEP/Wishes (again if you count POTC twice)

11-15 for us but this is largely dependent on the parks. My strategy has always been to get there right for opening, do as many rides as we can before the crowds get really thick and then after lunch just take on a few more at our leisure. Epcot and AK would be less than this but at MK we usually manage to get in about 8 rides before lunch.

Heaps of thank yous to all who replied! :grouphug:

For those who are asking- I know it depends on the time of year, what park you're in, if you have park-hoppers, and many MANY more variables. I'm looking for what YOU personally average on past trips. If you don't count, but still want to answer with an estimate, that's fine too! I personally would count re-rides. I guess this is more aimed towards MK because it's the more ride-heavy park, but if you normally use park hoppers it's not limited to rides in just one park.

so op what are you looking for? info on what avg?, because disboard is not avg. Disney goers.

My goal is to track enough people's averages to reveal a natural curve to use while planning. If the highest point of the curve lands in the 6-10, I know that I can easily hit about 8 rides on a random day without stress. (Obviously it would be a little less for heavily crowded days and a bit more for less crowded days) I know this is not the cleanest way to track this data, or anywhere near the most accurate, but I think it'd help me with my planning. (Specifically, have a maximum for the rides I want to ride most!) I especially wanted the opinions of Disboard members because I wanted a well-planned trip, and you folks tend to be well-planned people!

Thank you again for all of your input! I'm really enjoying reading about people's different touring styles!

It depends. I'm the type of person who will try to do as much as humanly possible, with little breaks. For example, I'm heading back in July and plan on riding every single ride in MK. The only thing that can really be capable of stopping me are the lines. Whether I accomplish that or not, I'll try to do as much as I can within the day without focusing on the trip in its entirety. I'm not much of a planner, I'll just do what I feel like in that moment and let it go from there. I think on average, I would ride about 11-15 rides per day but I'm sure a big portion of that are re-rides. Especially Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. The general rule of thumb for me is to just have fun, and do as much as I can per day, without rushing.

Here's just an example of what we were able to accomplish in a 4 hour period early last summer at MK from 8 pm to midnight. This was a crowd level 8 day and happened to be an EMH morning at the park. 16 rides in 4 hours if you count re-rides.

Big Thunder 3x
Splash Mtn 2x
Space Mtn 2x
Mine Train (10 min wait right a closing time)
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Pooh
Peter Pan
Speedway
Barnstormer 2x

We also watched the parade and fireworks and had a couple of Dole Whips.

Just rides, not attractions? It depends on the park I suppose if that's the case. MK probably 10-12. Epcot, AK and HS maybe more like 5.
