How many rides do you average on an average day at Disney World?

Here is our breakdown with an almost 4 year old and a 5 year old, their first trip to WDW. We arrived before RopeDrop and left soon after dinner, say 7pm on average. We didn't see ANY of the nighttime entertainment. We didn't rush at all (other than the RD rush to Mine Train twice!) with plenty of eating/snacking and a bit of shopping too.

AK - 6 rides/2 shows/2 meet&greets/3 animal trails/1 playground (45 minutes of our day so I'm including it!) =14 attractions
HS - 2 rides/4 shows/3 meet&greets/1 playground (60 minutes) = 10 attractions (but we left around 3pm)
Epcot - 5 rides/1 show/4 meet&greets/world showcase 4 countries =14 attractions
MK - 24 rides/3 meet&greets/dance party twice, tom sawyer island for 60 minutes in TWO DAYS or an average of 15 attractions a day

I agree with everyone else, it really depends. Some days we are ride heavy especially in the beginning of the trip and towards the end we slow down. I know at Christmas time a few years back we rode RnR and Tot 6 times in 2 hours in the evening. If I were to avg it out, 10-15 rides per day. Some days are more and some are less. This will be my first trip with the FP+, so I am curious if we will be able to ride as many rides as we did under the old FP system.

Here's just an example of what we were able to accomplish in a 4 hour period early last summer at MK from 8 pm to midnight. This was a crowd level 8 day and happened to be an EMH morning at the park. 16 rides in 4 hours if you count re-rides.

Woah. You've given me new confidence that I'll actually be able to do every ride in MK, or at least a good chunk! Especially for a level eight crowd. Way to go!

What do you consider a "ride"? Any attraction as listed on MDE? Anything you stand in line for? Anything that takes time? Anything that has a Fast Pass+ queue?

Sometimes I don't do many rides .. (had a two year old on last trip .. we didn't get there for RD and he needed a midday nap and we didn't stay past 8:00). I think we went on 9 actual "rides" (attractions that you stood in line for and "moved").. Buzz, TTA, Mermaid, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Carousel, Small World, Aladdin, Jungle Cruise)
But I felt we had a full day .. especially if you include seeing those "non-ride" attractions like watching a clown show and marching band in Storybook Circus. Heck .. watching the parade takes about 30+ minutes depending how much time you spend setting up your viewing location.

I don't think a lot of people count those ... but they are definitely an attraction .. that takes time to watch .. and provides more entertainment (time-wise) than a ride that you are on for 3-5 minutes.

Yes, I agree. In my mind, anything is an attraction. So I would count just about anything entertaining you do in the parks towards this question. At least in my opinion.

At first I was just counting physical rides, but now thinking about it, it would make sense that it could extend to anything with a line really. For example- Although I'm not personally interested in Meet n' greets, I would count them because these are set up just as a ride queue would be. AK trails, parades, shows, and fireworks might count too, but they tend to be much longer than a standard ride. Things I wouldn't really consider would be eating, street entertainment (If you're not actually stopped to watch the whole show), and shopping.

Just because it was an 8 day doesn't mean it was an 8 night. You can always count on guests getting hot & tired and leaving early which means that the parks are generally much less crowded at night. On this particular day, it was bumper to bumper traffic leaving the lot when we arrived at 8 pm. You also have to understand the crowd patterns, posted wait times, etc. for maximum ride time.

I voted 11-15. We prefer using hoppers and on days we go to parks with fewer rides, we often finish up at another park to ride more. I included all attractions as "rides" however. I believe that average of 9 the OP refers to was for "attractions" per day.

We're probably in the low end of the 11-15 bracket now. That's including all attractions. Our first two years it was probably higher, because we wanted to try EVERYTHING, but now there lots of attractions that just don't draw to them anymore.

To the OP, if you are interested in information to help you plan your trip, I think you would get more useful responses with some specific information about your trip. For example:

1. What dates are you planning to visit?
2. What kinds of rides are you most interested in?
3. Are you interested in doing as many things as possible once, or do you want to do certain
things multiple times?
4. How do you intend to spend your park days? Do you plan to arrive at rope drop, stay until closing, spend all day in the park or take a midday break, or any kind of point in between?
5. You said you aren't interested in character meetings, but what about things like shows, parades, and fireworks?
6. How quickly do you move around the parks?

I don't mean this as an interrogation, but it highlights some of the variables that will dictate what someone can reasonably expect to do in a day. There are a lot of very helpful people on the Dis who can help you to develop a plan to get the most out of your WDW visit.
